Editorial Team

Rita Dimasi is ArtsHub's Executive Editor and has been involved in ArtsHub for 7 years. Rita started her career in events and communications management for elite sport across Europe. After ten years she returned to Australia to work as Regional Editor Asia Pacific for Wcities, a travel and entertainment content publisher based in San Francisco. She has worked as an online producer for Telstra Bigpond and regularly consults for Melbourne University Communications projects. Rita leads a team of experienced writers and reviewers across the country. Richard Watts artsHub’s Review Editor as well as a writer, broadcaster, critic, and the host of the arts program SmartArts on Melbourne’s 3RRR FM. He was the Chair of Melbourne Fringe from 2007 - 2010, the Artistic Director of Express Media from 2000 - 2005, and is Acting President of the Green Room Awards. Richard is the founder of the Emerging Writers Festival, and a member of the Australian Film Critics Association. He has twice been a judge of the Victorian Premier’s Literary Awards, including chairing the drama panel in 2010. Fiona Mackrell is a Melbourne-based writer, reviewer and researcher and is the Sub-Editor for ArtsHub. She spent five years in television production with the ABC in Sydney and Melbourne, before studying Professional Writing and Editing at RMIT and moving into freelance writing.

VIC Writers

Suzanne Yanko has reviewed for the Herald-Sun, the South China Morning Post, HMV VOICE - as well as programming and presenting radio programs in Papua New Guinea, Hong Kong and Australia. Suzanne currently presents Wednesday Intermezzo at community radio station 3MBS 103.5 in Melbourne, supporting classical music and Australian musicians.

Ronald McCoy is a Melbourne medico and educator with a passion for the arts. He is a singer and musician of classical and traditional music, and is the National Library of Australia, National Folk Fellowship Fellow for 2007-08.

James Ayers currently holds a Bachelor of Creative Arts with a Major in Cinema Studies as well as a Post Graduate Diploma of Journalism.

Amelia Swan is a Melbourne-based arts writer. She studied History of Art at Edinburgh, Scotland and came to Australia in1994. Contemporary art has been her focus in recent writing, in particular Australian multi-media work and sound art.

Bron Batten is a Melbourne based theatre-maker, choreographer and performer. She trained at Deakin University and The Victorian College of the Arts, graduating with a Post Graduate Diploma in Theatre Making (Animateuring). She has made work for festivals including The Melbourne International Comedy Festival, Melbourne Fringe Festival, Next Wave, The Village, The Big Day Out and The Falls Music Festival.

Smiljana Glisovic studied Cinema (Melbourne University), Acting (WAAPA) and most recently graduated from a Masters in Writing (UTS). She writes about, and for, film, theatre, and the printed word.

Siobhan Argent completed an Arts degree at the University of Melbourne and is currently undertaking a postgraduate diploma in editing and communications. Siobhan is currently a reviewer for ArtsHub.

Paul Knox is the Artistic Director of PMD Productions and a reviewer for ArtsHub.

NSW Writers

Gareth Beal has written for FilmInk and Encore and most notably as an article writer and reviewer for Good Reading magazine. Currently he spends his time teaching Creative Writing at Macquarie University and writing/producing for his production company, Utropea Films.

Victor Kline started his working life as Sydney's youngest barrister. He is now Editor of the Federal Court Reports, and an award winning playwright, director and actor who has worked extensively in theatre in Sydney and off Broadway in New York. He is also author of the novel 'Rough Justice'.

Lynne Lancaster recently returned to Sydney after living in London for five and a half years. Lynne is an Ausdance, SAMAG, Sydney Dance and Australian Ballet member. Lynne has an MA in Theatre from UNSW. In London Lynne completed the dance criticism course at Sadlers Wells linked in with Chichester University and was involved in the review panel for Resolution at the PLace and worked at Battersea Arts Centre and the Theatre Museum Covent Garden.

Marika Bryant is an artist and writer living in Northern New South Wales, graduating from Southern Cross University. Marika has worked as a writer for magazines, advertising agencies and is now focussing on her career as an abstract expressionistic, poetry based artist with a twist.

Jessika Steiner is a Sydney-based arts writer. She studied Art Education at the UNSW College of Fine Arts and is a practicing artist and secondary Visual Arts and Design teacher.Jennie Sharpe is a poet, freelance writer and editor. She has published a collection of poetry in the book Australia: Facing the South and is also a novelist and short story writer. Jennie studied literature and theatre and is a classically trained musician. She is currently a sub-editor and contributor for French Provincial magazine.Tim Spencer is a Sydney based writer and director. In 2007 he co-founded Bambina Borracha Productions and is currently working on this year’s season. He co wrote and directed The Genealogy of Victorian Birds, Then we had Adventures and is currently devising new projects.Lucy Goleby has a Bachelor of Arts with Honours in Drama, and has almost completed a Masters of Professional Communication. She has a background in performance, writes, reads, does yoga, makes clothes and is currently a reviewer for Artshub.

Scott O'Hara is the Manager of the Sutherland Entertainment Centre and Chairman of Arts Training NSW. Prior to that he was the Executive Manager of Arts Culture and Events at Sydney Olympic Park, the foundation CEO of CCDNSW, worked in various positions at the Australia Council, and in visual arts and music education and in the community sector. He began his professional life as an archaeologist and musician. He has also lectured at Macquarie University and served as a volunteer on the Boards of various arts organisations and Government committees. He holds qualifications in Arts Management and Ancient History, and has been published as a photographer, poet, music critic, academic and commentator on the arts.

QLD Writers

Kirsten Le Roux (Cairns): With a love of plenty of sunshine and anything in the great outdoors, Kirsten Le Roux lives in Cairns. Her background is working in the marketing communications industry in South Africa, London, Belfast and Melbourne. A ferocious reader, Kirsten relishes being entertained, provoked and charmed by stories in print, at the movies or in theatre.

Laura Hillis’ background is a colourful jumble of performance, arts and events management and freelance writing. She has a Bachelor of Creative Industries from QUT majoring in Performance Studies and is undertaking a Masters in Business majoring in Public Relations. She currently works for a large charity running events and managing corporate partnerships and ultimately aims to marry her love of travel, the arts and culture, by working in international development.

John Carozza is a teacher and artist based in Brisbane. He is presently working at the QLD Academy for Creative Industries where he has developed the (award winning) Film Studies Program for the international Baccalaureate. He has over 20 years of teaching experience, as well as being commissioned to develop units of study and lead workshops in digital pedagogy and visual literacy in schools around Queensland and internationally.

Simon Tate is a teacher, director and performer currently teaching at The Queensland Academy for Creative Industries and Associate Director of Vanguard Youth Theatre. Simon has trained with QUT, The Qld Shakespeare Ensemble, Maitre D'Armes Gary Worsfield, Zen Zen Zo Physical Theatre and The SITI Company (New York).

S.A. Writers

Jade Wildy is an art theorist and historian based in Adelaide, Australia and she is currently studying for a Masters of Art History at the University of Adelaide. Jade holds a Bachelor of Visual Arts, with a major in ceramics from the University of South Australia. Jade's current research interests centre around contemporary art with a particular focus on Environmental Art, but she also has a love for psychology, biology and contemporary culture through art, music and dance.

Eleanor Zecchin is a practising visual artist based in Adelaide. A graduate from Adelaide Centre for the Arts, she is currently undertaking postgraduate studies in visual art at the University of South Australia. An avid viewer and participant of ‘art-like’ activities, she enjoys the challenge of responding to art through text.

Sam Ryan has worked at Radio Adelaide as a presenter and arts reporter, was Chief Co-Editor of Entropy magazine, wrote freelance for the Big Issue magazine, was ‘Culture Vulture’ arts reporter for Fresh FM, and the Arts and Culture Section Editor of national youth media portal Vibewire.net. Sam currently works for Lowdown Magazine, Australia’s only youth performing arts magazine as the Assistant Editor, copy editing as well as writing reviews and features. She is also reviewing the Adelaide Fringe for Express Media’s Buzzcuts program for young arts writers.

Chris Taras supports many of the cultural and music events that Adelaide has to offer such at The Fringe, Cabaret Festival, Womad and the local music scene. Chris is a keen collector of all things quirky, loves blues and contemporary jazz and has a passion for playing and learning the piano.

Erin Keys left Australia to travel to Eastern Europe and lived in Bosnia Herzegovina with anarchist misfits, renegade punks and lost souls; working on leftist projects, punk music festivals. Writing ‘Silent Observations’ an English observational section in a confused anarchic neo communist zine project she returned to Australia and joined the Metal Design Studio JamFactory - Centre for Contemporary Craft and Design in 2008 where she continues to make art.

Catherine Dorrestyn has a long and dark past hiding in the bowels of far too many theatres, but that’s stage management! She can often be seen at opening nights and art galleries. She also likes to put colour onto canvas, sing and an avid story teller.

W.A. & Tasmania Writers

Bronwyn Lewis lives in Perth, and is a reviewer for ArtsHub. In a 'past life' she worked for the Sydney Theatre Company, Opera Australia, National Gallery of Victoria and was CEO of Monsalvat.

Gillian Clark is an arts practitioner having worked as an actor and with a Diploma in Acting from NIDA. Having diversified into film writing and directing she has been part of film festivals, yet the stage has always been where she has 'cut her teeth' as a performer and also in the capacity as director. Now content to write for the performing arts medium and critique for theatre, she feels Oscar Wilde's words speak volumes for her profession: 'We are all of us in the gutter, but only some of us are looking at the stars' and loves the humanity that is laid vulnerable in art expression.

Sophie Serese has a background as a composer, specifically of opera. Two of her operas were performed at the Victorian Arts Centre, ‘The White Cat,’ and ‘Trilby,’ in 2003 and 2005, with sell-out performances. Sophie honed her writing skills as an opera librettist, member of the editorial committee for youth magazine, ‘Approach,’ by studying Copywriting at the Advertising Federation of Australia, and finally by becoming a reviewer for Arts Hub. In 2007, Sophie gained an Advanced Diploma of Business (Advertising) at Swinburne, and in 2009, gained her AmusA in piano.

ACT & NT Writers

Sally D'Souza is a creative arts & media consultant based in Canberra who has facilitatedin creative arts events and multi-media projects and productions from independent artists, companies to government bodies in Sydney, Canberra and in Melbourne since 2001. Sally has curated exhibitions, edited publications, and managed performances, launches, events and festivals. She holds a Masters in Creative Writing and Graduate Diploma in Community Cultural Development. She has worked as a Curator for Artary Project Space, Senior Writer/Producer at WIN Television, Sub-editor for Multicultural Arts Victoria and Arts Writer for the Canberra Times.

Frank Madrid is a Venezuelan born journalist, actor and arts manager who has lived in Australia for more than a decade. He studied at New York University UTS ,University of Canberra as well as the Multicultural Arts Professional Development Program run by RMIT, Kape Communications and the Australia Council. He is a recipient of the prestigious Asia Link Residency. He has worked with SBS, 2SER and Artsound FM as host of several radio shows in English and Spanish. Frank is also an actor and voice over expert. His latest role was Francisco, the Spanish Red Wiggle, in the Spanish speaking version of the famous Australian television show The Wiggles, shown to an audience of over 200 million viewers in the Americas

Clara Mills is a seamstress and set designer by night and an advocate for things that are good by day. A former lawyer, Clara now works for an NGO in the Northern Territory. Clara marks the days each year until the Darwin Festival and is one of the founding members of the Happy Yess! Markets.

Tamara Winikoff is Executive Director of the National Association for the Visual Arts (NAVA).

Lisa Anderson creates work at Cite Internationale des Arts, Paris to develop ice images and sculpture from the Arctic with the architecture of the City of Light.

Jane Haley has expertise in cultural policy, arts management and private sector arts support. She has managed several arts organisations including Arts Access, the Queensland Theatre Company and the Arts Council of Australia (ACT); directed policy and program initiatives for Arts Queensland, the NSW Department of Education and the Victorian Government; and provided leadership for professional arts industry and advocacy bodies including ArtsPeak, the Arts Industry Council of Victoria, and the Australian Institute of Arts Management. Before taking up her position with the Australia Business Arts Foundation, Jane was Senior Policy Adviser to Mary Delahunty, MP, Victoria's Minister for the Arts.

Gary Anderson is a Melbourne academic.

SpecificationsAll advertisements have a set size and need to be supplied in the correct format for us to place your display advertisement on the website. The specifications are as follows:

• Specifications for Flash creative (SWF) - For the tracking of Flash creative you will need to embed your own click through link into the creative during its production.

• You are required to set the Action Script for your link to open in a new browser window.

• GIF or JPEG -Arts Hub have the facility to track click through and exposure rates on JPEG and GIF creative.

• E Newsletter/Bulletins - Artwork for the email bulletins cannot be flash and must be static at 486 x 60 IMU. All other specifications remain the same.
