Barnett/Collins Reading Goals due 12/15

All seventh grade students are reading the classic Christmas story A Christmas Carol, by Charles Dickens.

Spelling BeeCongratulations to the winners of the school spelling bees. In the 8th grade bee, Kathryn Reardon won

first place, Anna Donnell took second place, and Maggie Pruitt finished in third place. A big thank you to our 8th grade officials: Pronouncer: Donny Lee, Head Judge: Shari Adcock, Judges; Tyonia Beard and Becky Hall. In the 7th grade bee, Hayden Mauldin won first place, Anthony Osborn took second place, and Ava Simpson finished in third place. Our 7th grade officials were Pronouncer: Donny Lee, Head Judge: Shari Adcock, Judges: Heath Carpenter and Becky Hall. A big thank you to all our officials who graciously gave of their time and expertise. The winning students will represent our school at the White County spelling bee in January. Congratulations!

EAST NEWS: A big congratulations goes out to Lydia Fleener! Lydia has made it past Round 1 of the EAST Tech Support Olympiad Competition. She is one of 160 students moving forward to Round 2! Cumulative scores for Rounds 1 and 2 will be tabulated and the final six contestants will be invited to participate in the final round at EAST Conference which will be held in Hot springs in March. Way to go, Lydia!

Band NotesThe annual Christmas band concert was held on Sunday, Dec. 4 in the Searcy High School PAC. The seventh and eighth grade bands, along with the high school band, performed a selection of Christmas melodies for a packed house! Congratulations to the hard working band members for a wonderful concert!

All Region tryouts were held on December 5th. Searcy bands congratulates the following 8th grade students who made All Region: Lydia Fleener- clarinet, Greg Supratman- clarinet, Natalie White- clarinet, Kathryn Reardon- clarinet, Payton Harp- saxophone, Emily Baker- french horn, Lillie Lee- baritone, Megan Homeier- clarinet-alternate, Juliana Perez -clarinet -alternate, Zeke Wallace- percussion- alternate. These students have shown a serious dedication to their musical endeavors and we recognize them for their achievements.

Book ClubBook Club will perform travel to Little Rock on Friday, December 16th, to visit the MacArthur Military Museum, the River Market and the USS Razorback.

Quiz bowl placed 3rd at the Mountain View HAQT Invitational Tournament on Saturday, Dec 3rd. Participants were Jordan Benight, Cloe Cook, Carter Jones, Amon Nguyen and Ryan Nguyen.

TOYS TOYS TOYSAhlf Junior High Students collected over $9,800 toys to donate to Operation Homefront. These toys will go to needy military families in Arkansas, and were presented to Operation Homefront on Friday, December 2. Thank you to all the students, staff and parents who donated toys.
