HRV (Heat Recovery Ventilation)IIf you use a heating system more often than air conditioning, you need an HRV. Heat recovery systems have been designed to recover the heat contained in the extract air.

ERV (Energy Recovery Ventilation)If you use air conditioning more often than heating, an ERV is recom-mended. The enthalpic core of the ERV transfers heat and moisture from the intake air to the extract air. The air brought into the living area is cooled and the humidity is reduced for maximum comfort. The load on your air conditioner drops and you save on cooling costs.

TRV (Twin Recovery Ventilation)TRV has the benefits of both HRV and ERV. You save heating in winter and air condi-tioning costs in summer. Moreover, you enjoy air with balanced humidity for maximum comfort.

4 VENTS. Air handling units | 04-2014

HRV (Heat Recovery Ventilation)

The fresh incoming air absorbs the heat from the air being extracted. This fresh warm air is then circulated back into the home or building.

ERV (Energy Recovery Ventilation)

In the winter months the core captures the humidity of the extract air and cir-culates it back into the home or build-ing. In summer the humidity is captured and exhausted outside. No drain pan is required.

How do HRV, ERV and TRV Systems work?

Contains both HRV and ERV recovery

cores inside.

Both HRV and ERV cores of the Twin Recovery Ventilators provide "sensible" heat transfer. The HRV core makes Twin Recovery Ventilators suitable for cold climate zones and the ERV core increas-es the unit’s efficiency by extra moisture transfer.

Independent System installation

In this application the ductworks are used to supply fresh air to bedrooms and living areas and extract stale air from the bathroom, kitchen and laundry room.

Types of installation

Exhaust and supply combined

Exhaust at the source and supply in the return

This application uses a separate duct system to extract air from the bathroom, kitchen and laundry room.

The fresh air is dumped into the return air duct of the forced air system and is distributed in the house together with supply air.

Casing

Steel casing is covered with high-quality multilayer aluminium and zinc alloy to prevent corrosion. The casing is equipped with a switch to turn the ventilator off when the service panel is opened.

Filter

Washable G4 air filters in exhaust and supply air streams.

Heat recovery core

Specially designed aluminum plate core ensures excellent heat recovery ef-ficiency. Whenever heat recovery is not required, the heat recovery block can be easily replaced by a "summer" block. The ventilator is also equipped with a drain pan for condensate drainage.

Defrost system

To protect the heat recovery core, the freezing electronic protection system is applied. It switches the supply fan off as the temperature sensor requires. Warm extract air defrosts the heat recovery core, then the supply fan switches on and the ventilator continues operating under rated conditions.

Motors

German made high-efficient motor combined with backward inclined impeller delivers exceptionally powerful airflow and high static pressure. Built-in Thermal Overheating Protection with Automatic Restart makes the motor operation se-cure and reliable. Permanently lubricated ball bearings inside the motor provide long (40000 hours) trouble- and maintenance-free operation.

Fans

The ventilator is equipped with supply and exhaust centrifugal fans with backward inclined blades and built-in thermal overheating protection with automatic restart. The electric motors and the impellers are dynamically balanced in two planes.

Control

The ventilator comes with a thyristor speed control.

Casing

Steel casing is covered with high-quality multilayer aluminium and zinc alloy to prevent corrosion. The casing is equipped with switch to turn the ventilator off when the service panel is opened.

Filter

Washable G4 air filters in exhaust and supply air streams. Optional supply: anti grease aluminum filter.

Heat recovery core

Two aluminum cross-flow cores (HRV 100Ds and HRV 150Ds) ensure the most efficient heat recovery.

Two enthalpic cores (ERV 100Ds and ERV 150Ds) provide both heat&energy recovery. Unique combination of aluminum and enthalpic cores attains the best heat&energy recovery efficiency.

Defrost system

To protect the heat recovery core, the freezing electronic protection system is applied. It switches the supply fan off as the temperature sensor requires. Warm extract air defrosts the heat recovery core, then the supply fan switches on and the ventilator continues operating under rated conditions.

How the TwinFresh S Works

CYCLE I. Warm stale air is extracted from the room passing through the ceramic

accumulator, which captures up to 91% of the thermal energy of the air being ex-

tracted. As the accumulator gets heated, the ventilator switches to air supply mode.

CYCLE II. As the fresh outside air passes the opposite way through the accumula-

tor, it absorbs the heat and moisture which was extracted from the room air that

was exhausted. As the temperature of the accumulator decreases, the fan switches

back to extraction mode and the cycle starts all over again. The ventilator changes

its operation mode for supply or extract ventilation every 70 seconds. This time

interval can be adjusted during installation from 30 to 120 seconds.

How it Works

Fresh air from outside moves through the filter and core. Warm stale air from the room moves through the filter and core and then is exhausted outside.

The thermal energy of the extracted warm inside air is transferred to the fresh outside air that is being drawn in.

The intake and extract air flows are fully separated.
