The AIB Online MBA (Master of Business Administration) degree is internationally recognised and is seen as a passport to a successful management career.
It is the world’s most popular postgraduate degree, with around 200,000 MBA graduates produced in the USA, and almost 30,000 Australians* studying for an MBA each year.
MBA degrees provide students with knowledge of how people and processes operate within organisations and the wider environment affecting those organisations.
MBAs were first developed in the USA in the early 1900s. They were designed for graduates within technical disciplines who had little or no business education.
“Studying by distance was the only way I could conceivably do my MBA, but fitting the degree in around my roster was never too difficult, since I could take my course notes and journal readings with me wherever I go and work from my iPad between work days.”
Stuart Dunn First Officer B737, Qantas AIB MBA Student
MBA BENEFITS
As the world moves toward a more corporate and service-oriented economy, earning an MBA has become an effective way of not only ensuring your employment, but also ensuring your success and marketability in an ever-evolving job market.

KEY FEATURES OF THE MODEL
INNOVATIVE MODEL – AIB ONLINE MBA
1. Flexible Study The AIB Online MBA is offered via Online Learning, a flexible learning option for students who want the ability to study whenever and wherever they choose. 24/7 access to online learning materials and both online and offline teaching and administrative support are provided to facilitate this.
2. Flexible Delivery AIB offers 12 intakes per year, which allows students to commence their studies at their convenience. Students may also elect to study in an intensive mode of four weeks per subject or take up to eight weeks per subject, or switch between the two modes. With the ability to take breaks when they need them, students can complete the MBA in as little as 12 months, or take up to three years.
3. One Subject at a Time The AIB Online MBA allows students to undertake one subject at a time over four to eight weeks, whilst working full-time. This approach is superior to the semestral or trimestral approach adopted by most traditional MBA programmes as it provides working adults with the capability to balance personal and professional commitments, while focusing on just one subject at a time.
4. Workplace Application AIB believes that to produce effective business graduates, business programmes must blend theory and practice. AIB encourages students to apply their learnings to their workplace, which is reflected in the subject assessments approach. Assessments typically require the application of theory to real situations a student has encountered in a work environment. The final subject is a Project, which allows students to identify and address an issue of strategic and functional importance in their organisation.
5. Relevant Content AIB’s wide range of elective subjects allows students to concentrate their study on what matters most to them, such as finance, entrepreneurial management or marketing management. AIB’s subjects are all taught by highly regarded academic staff with PhDs or masters qualifications, as well as relevant industry experience to provide students with both theory and practical insights.
Studying one subject at a time made it quite easy to break the programme down in bite sized components that you could manage. I think that was material in my success.

HOW TO FIT AN MBA INTO YOUR LIFE
YOUR STUDY AND WORK WILL COMPLEMENT AND BENEFIT EACH OTHER – SO SOME OF YOUR STUDY AND LEARNING CAN OCCUR ON THE JOB, REDUCING THE TIME REQUIRED FOR AN MBA
We understand that with work, family, and social commitments it can be difficult to juggle the 3 – 4 subjects traditional universities require over each semester.
AIB’s delivery model is the preferred solution for busy, working adults who also want to study full-time. The amount of independent study you will complete each week will depend on your individual circumstances.
When would you find the time to study? Read on to hear real examples of how our graduates fit the MBA into their life and a few of their study tips.

GRADUATE STUDY TIPS:
Give your kids one special weekend a month to do something you wouldn’t usually do as a family (e.g. go-karting, ice-skating, etc.).
Join in on homework time with your children by studying your MBA.
Wake up one hour earlier to study so you can spend the evening with the kids.
Study for one-to-two hours each weeknight after dinner and family time with your children.
Make dinner dates and breakfast dates with your family and stick to them.
Take advantage of the office after hours and avoid peak-hour traffic by studying for one-to-two hours each night after work.
Take public transport to work and study while commuting.
Use study leave near exam or assignment days to give you more time to revise and prepare.
Negotiate study time during your working hours with your manager.
Create a workable schedule that fits around your commitments.
Use an iPad to read your study notes while travelling.
Study from your hotel room, and photocopy the textbook beforehand if needed.
Complete exams overseas if necessary through the Australian Consulate.
Make use of local facilities including libraries, coffee shops or the beach rather than only your hotel desk.
Wake up half an hour earlier than your family to hit the books before the day’s excitement begins.
“I ended up being very diligent with the kids. I would get home, we would have tea, and then I would have my homework time. So at a certain point – say, 7.30pm, I would say ‘now it is my time’ and I would start my studies. While it was hard, I wanted to be a good role model for my children and show them that in life you have to work hard to achieve something.”
“I’m one of those lunatics that generally work for over 80 hours a week – I just seem to naturally be able to manage that strain, and I’ve never had a coffee in my life! All of my studies were pretty much done at night time. I knew that I would not be able to find time within my busy work schedule, so I made the effort to study after hours. I found that worked quite well for me. I would get home, have dinner and then throw myself into it.”
“I used to read on the way to work or on the plane, studying for at least one and a half hours every day and playing catch-up on the weekend if I needed to put in extra time.”

ALL GRADUATES ARE INVITED TO CELEBRATE THEIR ACHIEVEMENT AT THE PRESTIGIOUS AIB GRADUATION CEREMONY.
The Australian Graduation Ceremony tends to be in November each year where Graduates are formally conferred their degree in the presence of their family, and a community of fellow graduates, faculty, industry guests, and Members of Parliament.
The ceremony is attended by faculty, academic and advisory board members, and high profile guests, many of whom have presented inspiring and thoughtful graduation keynote speeches.
In recent years, these proficient keynote speakers have included Janine Allis, Founder of Boost Juice, and Glenn McGrath, former Australian International Cricketer, and Co-Founder of the McGrath Foundation.
Their speeches are aimed at motivating and inspiring our graduates with their successful business stories.
As graduates of ‘The Practical Business School,’ graduates recognise the value their qualification has to the industry, due to its emphasis on practical application of each skill to the workplace, and know that this memorable achievement will be valued for a lifetime.

No loan fee applies to FEE-HELP loans for the MBA, and the Commonwealth Government pays the amount of the loan directly to AIB on the student’s behalf.
Your eligibility for FEE-HELP is not affected by your income and assets.
Interest is not applied to FEE-HELP debts, however an index amount is applied each year and this indexation amount is in line with the Consumer Price Index (CPI).
For further information regarding FEE-HELP, please visit www.studyassist.gov.au.
UP-FRONT PAYMENT OPTION
If you are not FEE-HELP eligible and you are not studying in Australia, you may enjoy considerable savings by paying for your course fees up-front. Paying up-front also protects you from future course fee increases.
FUNDING SOURCES
In addition to FEE-HELP, funding sources vary from student to student. The vast majority utilise personal funds for their studies, while others prefer to spread their payments into manageable amounts over a period of time with a low-rate credit card, personal loan, or incorporating this in a home loan.
PAYMENT MODES
Payments can be made by (Visa/MasterCard) credit card online through our payment gateway which attracts a small credit card surcharge. Other accepted modes of payment are: cheque, direct debit, and bank transfer.
TAX BENEFIT
If you are accepted into the course, you may be able to obtain a tax deduction of your course fees as a self-education expense. Please visit www.ato.gov.au for more information or consult your accountant.
Contact one of our Course Advisors by calling 08 8212 8111 or via email at [email protected] to find out about payment options available to you. Other fees are listed in the application form.
