Winter 2012 AIChE Officers
President: Lian Zhu Arranges luncheons with corporate contacts. Handles corporate donations and funding requests. External VP: Vikram Linga Fills in as acting president when necessary. Coordinates Tech Day and CoE Blood Battle. Internal VP: Christine Zugaro Purchases food and supplies for all luncheons. Responsible for relations within the department, college, and university. Treasurer: James Lee Controls AIChE accounts, funding, and reimbursements. Keeps track of dues. Secretary: Christopher McMullen Keeps track of attendance and email list. Sends email notifications to AIChE members. Mentorship Co-‐Chairs: Christine James and Sarah Clark Promote the Mentorship Program to inform Chemical Engineering students of future options in industry, academia, or elsewhere. Outreach and Social Chair: Brieanne Bartneck, Responsible for organizing at least two outreach and two social events each semester. Newsletter Co-‐Chairs: Peter Waszkiewicz and Crissie Zuchora Write the Column weekly for luncheons and write a bi-‐annual newsletter for faculty and staff. Webmaster: Arthur Shih Maintains the AIChE Website, webspace, and facebook page. ESC Vice-‐Chair: Crissie Zuchora Organize successful student program collection and distribution to all Student Chapters and fill in for the Chair when needed Regional Liaison: Crissie Zuchora Maintains communication between all chapters and Nationals.

Intramural Broomball
Throughout January and February, AICHE members competed in an intramural broomball league at Yost arena. Their late-‐night tenacity made up for their lack of skill as the team qualified for a playoff game.
Happy Hour at Good Time Charlie’s
On Friday, February 3rd, from 4:00-‐6:00, AICHE members relaxed and enjoyed appetizers at Good Time Charlie’s. Turnout was much higher than expected, and AICHE ended up taking over the bar. No alcohol was purchased by AICHE, although not from a lack of asking, begging, pleading, bargaining, or blackmail.
Panda Express Fundraiser
In order to raise money to replenish funds, AICHE held a fundraiser at Panda Express. The fundraiser was held on the afternoon of March 7th, and was attended by both students and some faculty.
ChemE Car
The ChemE car team competed in the 2012 North Central Regional competition at the University of Akron from April 20-‐21. Electronic gremlins were the main obsticale at the competition. The ChemE car team will be performing a séance in an attempt to cast out the ghosts that haunt the circuts.

Ice Cream Social It’s a great opportunity to get to network with a Shell recruiter. It’s also great to get free Stucchi’s ice cream. On March 15th, AICHE offered the opportunity to do both! Shell recruiter Kristin Lo met with students as they enjoyed the rare warm weather in mid-‐March.
Intramural Dodge Ball March might have come in like a lion, and out like a lamb, but AICHE ended March like a lion with an intramural dodge ball tournament. Team “Get Pumped” acted with the aggression of students from some other University.
Mythbusters Live at the Fox Theatre
On March 8th, 11 lucky AICHE members drove down to the Fox Theatre in Detroit to watch Mythbusters live. This was made possible because AICHE subsidized the cost of the tickets for these super happy students.
Mentorship Scavenger Hunt
AICHE Mentorship organized a scavenger hunt for the sophomores on Friday, March 9th. Every team did extremely well, but none of them were able to find the items “true happiness” and “Chuck Norris beard hair.”
Kid’s Fair
On Friday, March 23rd, AICHE members volunteered at a Kid’s fair at the Cliff Keen arena and IM Sports Building.
Brown Jug Fundraiser
When AICHE holds a fundraiser, they do it in style! AICHE sold bracelets for exclusive discounts at the Brown Jug on Thursday, March 29th. Classes that Friday has slightly lower than average attendance.

Valentines for Mott Children’s Hospital
On Thursday, February 9th, AICHE members used some of their spare time to made Valentines for patients at Mott Children’s Hospital. The creativity exercised by these engineers would cause an LSA major to question their career path.

Abbot Plant Tour
On Friday, April 6th, AICHE members hit the road to take a tour of the Abbot plant in Wyandotte, MI. A very valuable experience for ChemE’s looking at the pharmaceutical industry.

Relay for Life
From 10am on Saturday, April 14th, to 10am the following day, AICHE members participated in Relay for Life. Members ran around the Palmer Field track and sold water bottles in order to raise money to fight cancer.

Happy Hour at the Blue Leprechaun
AICHE’s last social event of the year was happy hour at the Blue Leprechaun on Friday, March 30th, from 5:30-‐8:00. AICHE members enjoyed appetizers both to celebrate the last AICHE social event in a great semester, and to carbo-‐load for finals. As before, AICHE did not purchase any alcohol.
Air Products Demonstration
Air Products representative Scott Siegmund put on quite a show at the AICHE luncheon on Thursday, February 16th. He demonstrated cryogenic distillation of air, the safety concerns caused by liquid air products, and the current and future commercial uses of liquid nitrogen.
