They maintain complete sets of financial records, keep track of accounts, and verify the accuracy of procedures used for recording financial transactions. Bookkeeping is a rewarding career path and the reasons to study a bookkeeping course go further than just having a head for numbers and killer organizational skills. The field is constantly growing, isn’t narrow—nor is it boring (let’s bust that stereotype right now!). The noble bookkeeper does everything from maintaining financial records, problem solving to taking on the role of trusted financial advisor. Our programme offers both qualifications on a junior and senior bookkeeping level and is accredited by ICB (Institute of Certified Bookkeepers) and FASSET SETA. Grade 10 (Std 8) or equivalent No prior accounting knowledge needed Admission Requirements What you get This qualification is designed to provide the student with multiple certificates and qualifications, both locally and internationally recognised by industry for maximum employability. On completion the student will earn: Part 1: Foundation Level, National Certificate for Bookkeeping (Junior Bookkeeper), National Certificate: Bookkeeping NQF L3 (SAQA ID: 58375), Total credits: 120 Part 2: Intermediate Level, FET Certificate for Bookkeeping (Senior Bookkeeper), Further Education and Training Certificate: Bookkeeping NQF L4 (SAQA ID: 58376) Total cumulative credits: 130 On successful completion of this qualification, you can articulate into the following: Direct access into the National Diploma: Financial Accounting, Level 1 Direct access into the CIMA programmes On successful completion of this qualification, further studies can be taken with credit for your ICB qualifications into CIMA, ACCA and ChartSec as they will grant exemption to certain qualifications the ICB offers. Articulation Options Duration Full Time 12 months (10 Sessions/Week, 2:00 hours each, +- 2 ½ day/week, class times are between 08:30 & 16:00) All credits are achieved via your study duration at the academy, studio time and project based assignments. *Sessions will be grouped together to lower cost of traveling, however, in some cases classes may not follow this convention and schedules are subject to change. Online & Part Time Part Time = 12 months (2 Hours/week, every 2nd Saturday 08:00 - 14:00) Online = 12 Months (Online live Q&A or structured classes, 2 Hours/week, 18:00 - 20:00) Credits are obtained through a combination of live virtual classes, pre-recorded video lectures and project-based tasks. * NOTE: You can exit after completing a level but it is not reccomended. Part 2: Intermediate Level, FET Certificate for Bookkeeping (Senior Bookkeeper) The Intermediate Level will give you the skills to keep records of financial affairs of the business on a Senior level and also the knowledge to be a Junior or Assistant Accountant.
