African eXchange Leadership and development seminar (AfroXLDS) is the largest conference
organized by AIESEC in Africa. It is yet another year and another month of March after the
organization of AfroXLDS 2010 in Togo. A great initiative sprung up by a group of persons named
the “Re-Founders” under the supervision of Daniel AKEMAMEN, the National President of AIESEC
in Cameroon. This great initiative was to organize AfroXLDS 2011 in Cameroon and a bold step
was taken thereafter to bid for this conference. The result of this bid found this conference
knocking at the door steps of a wonderful country at the Heart of Africa known as Cameroon.
Thanks to its beautiful receptive nature, AfroXLDS 2011 proudly took up the challenge of
organizing this yearly encounter of young leaders who aspire to make the world a better place
through the impact they create in every person, everywhere, everyday. In a bit to bring out the
capacities in us as leaders in AIESEC and in the world together, it was important for us to have a
vision for the upcoming event and to give it a lot of meaning to the society. It is for this reason
the following words; Generating Impact Together was set as the theme for the conference.
The arrival of the big task of organizing AfroXLDS 2011 in July 2010, coupled with the powerful
theme of focus, called for an urgent need of Success. This could only come by setting up a
powerful team with the responsibility of assuring a perfect conference and a great experience for
all participants. To this note, the national committee of AIESEC Cameroon selected a group of
persons commonly called Congress Committee to drive their vision and make their plans and
dreams a reality.

This is an event which gives basic meaning to one of AIESEC’s 6 values known as
« Living Diversity » It is an event that exposes the culture of each delegate/country represented. It took place in the same venue as the opening ceremony (Maison du Parti, Bonanjo) which was decorated with stand for each country. This event gave the opportunity to different countries to portray their cultures in terms of meals, dances, dressing, customs sand tradition as well as partners to showcase their companies. Though we had few delegates, it was however a remarkable event.

Cameroonian Night was designed to give delegates an insight of the cultural aspect of Cameroon.
It took place at Hotel le Paradis, Kribi on the 25th night, shortly after the sessions of the day. This event was spiced with fashion parade, poisson braisé and a wonderful cultural dance group of the south region.
This dinner took place on the 26th of March 2011 at hotel
le Paradis. As it is with AIESEC conferences, partner’s dinner are meant to give our partners a forum to dine with us as well as for the delegates to increase their network. Partner’s dinner was attended by a host of our partners, members, alumnus and guests. Present on this day was a piano group which was there to give the event a touch of melody. We ate, drank and danced as the program went on with speeches from the Regional delegate of MINTOUR, CEO of MTN, CEO of Standard Chartered Bank, and the President of AIESEC International. It was a real opportunity to give our sincere gratitude to all the partners who made a gesture which helped in the realization of this conference as well as the Alumnus for their constant support and advice.

This was the core element of AfroXLDS
2011. Five days was fully dedicated to that. It was also an opportunity for external to come and share with us. A session on PROCESS COMMUNICATION was delivered by Loyce OLYMPIO from Gabon. The Ministry of Tourism worked with delegates on the topics “TOURISM, YOUTH EMPLOYMENT AND LOCAL DEVELOPMENT IN CAMEROON” delivered by Mr. EPOUNE Serge Eric A., Head of Service. AfroXLDS 2011 was also a room for AIESEC International to explain the new global direction and provide the
necessary skills to members to handle these changes. The President of AIESEC International, Mr. Hugo PEREIRA, personally lunched AIESEC 2015. Exceptionally, we had also the President of AIESEC International for 2011-12, Ms. Tatiana Mykhailyuk who was facilitator during this conference. The new AIESEC experience was introduced to members and the business logic (Business Model Canvas) of that experience.
It was yet another opportunity to come together as members of an association to smile over the just ended 6 days conference. This took place on the 28th night, the
eve of the close of AfroXLDS 2011, Cameroon. It a bit to say farewell to all the participants of the conference, the congress committee made it possible for everyone to come dressed and happy for a dinner together. This was one of the most memorable moments of the conference as we all watched the Facilitators serving food to their humble delegates.
