Introduction Reflecting on 2011/12

As a local committee, AIESEC Osijek has been going through a lot of changes in the past few

years. From an entity that was struggling hard to retain its membership in 2008, our LC has

grown to become one of the leading entities in AIESEC in Croatia. With every term, we strived

to achieve even bigger goals which eventually led to our committee now consisting of more than

50 active members, managing 10 sustainable projects, 27 exchanges, having 9 local

partnerships and realizing cooperation with more than 25 companies and organizations.

The term 2011/12 was all about raising the quality of our existing projects, introducing new ones

and achieving even higher goals when it comes to exchange results. This term was special for

another reason – we celebrated our 50th anniversary!

This has been a challenging and an interesting year in which we learned a lot and put a lot of

effort into making a step further and going beyond our usual ways to ensure AIESEC Osijek

grows even more. We would like to thank our members, alumni, professors and partners for

enabling this growth and supporting us in every step of the way!

This report is an overview of all the important events and activities in the 2011/12 term.

What is AIESEC?

AIESEC is the largest student organization in the world with more than 60 years of

experience in delivering high-quality international and leadership experiences.

About AIESEC Osijek

AIESEC Osijek local committee was founded in 1962, just a year after the establishment of the

Faculty of Economics. In the 50 years of its existence, our local committee was run by more than

400 members. Over the years, AIESEC Osijek was focused on providing its members with enough

challenging opportunities, both exchange and leadership experiences focused on important local

issues.

In the term 11/12, 18 incoming and 9 outgoing exchanges were realized. Incoming

exchanges involved projects such as Action,not reaction, Equal in diversity, cooperation

with SOS childrens village Ladimirevci, NGOs and companies in Osijek. Outgoing

exchanges were realized in countries such as: Poland, Ukraine, Italy and Romania.

AIESEC Osijek continues with its tradition of organizing a large number of projects

based on different social issues. 9 local projects included projects based on exchange

such as Action,not reaction and Equal in diversity, internal projects such as Winter

Leadership Development Congress, projects in cooperation with the Faculty of

Economics in Osijek such as Business Management Challenge etc.

50 years of AIESEC Osijek

In 2012 AIESEC Osijek celebrates its 50th anniversary! Founded by professor Slavica Singer in 1962, over the years, AIESEC Osijek offered opportunities for development to numerous members, many of whom are today alumni. 50th anniversary was held on 20th of April and gathered more than 90 guests: alumni, members and partners.

Our guests had the opportunity to learn more about years when AIESEC was founded, become familiar with AIESEC Osijek's development and history and learn more about our projects and activities today. AIESEC Osijek Board of Advisors offers our members and Executive Board a chance to get an important and valuable insight into our external environment. Our Board of Advisors members are experienced alumni and individuals from different

sectors, always willing to help with their advice and constructive feedback.

Projects 11/12 AIESEC Osijek contined to plan and organize a large number of different local projects and activities.

Successful and sustainable projects from the past terms were continued this year as well and some new

projects introduced for the first time.

Most of our projects were based on exchange as our core work, some were corporate based such as

Business Management Challenge and some were internal such as the Winter Leadership Development

Congress.

ACTION, NOT REACTION

The main goal of this project is to familiarize high school students with

entrepreneurship. 5 interns came to Osijek to hold workshops on

different topics and soft skills in 6 high schools in Osijek. Students had a

chance to meet new cultures, work in a team, improve their English

language skills and much more. Schools that participated in the project:

First Grammar School, Second Grammar School, Third Grammar School,

Classical High School, School of Economy and School of design and

applied arts from Osijek. The project involved 4 interns from Egypt, USA,

Ukraine and Georgia.

EQUAL IN DIVERSITY

EiD is another project based on exchange where 6 interns hold

primary school students workshops about interculturality, tolerance,

non-violent communication etc. Project involved 7 primary schools:

Oš Retfala, Franje Krežme, Antun Mihanović, Ivan Filipović, Fran Krsto

Frankopan, Grigor Vitez and Ljudevit Gaj and 6 interns from China,

Japan, El Salvador, Panama, Brazil and Estonia.

GLOBAL VILLAGE

Global Village is an international fair where students

currently on exchange in Osijek present different

aspects of their culture to the citizens of Osijek.

Students present their culture on country stands

followed by presentations of each of the participating

countries. This year Global Village was held in Avenue

Mall centre with 10 participating countries: Brazil, El

Salvador, Panama, Estonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina,

USA, China, Japan, Poland and Croatia.

BUSINESS MANAGEMENT CHALLENGE

Business Management Challenge is a project done in

cooperation with the Faculty of Economics in Osijek where

students have a chance to work on actual case studies from

real companies as a part of their usual courses. The best

solutions are rewarded and all participants will get a

certificate for participating in the project. This year BMC the

participating company is INA – Industrija nafte.

WINTER LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT CONGRESS

WLDC is the biggest national conference in AIESEC in Croatia

and it was this year hosted by AIESEC Osijek. More than 80

delegates from all parts of Croatia and Europe joined to discuss

important issues about todays leadership and develop practical

skills as well as discuss important world issues. The conference

was held in Red Cross education centre in Orahovica.

Incoming Exchange 11/12

In 2011/12 AIESEC Osijek realized 18 incoming

exchanges in the following organizations and

10 internships were realized in projects Action, not

reaction and Equal in diversity held in 7 primary and 6

secondary schools in Osijek.

This has been one of the best internships ever. If I could do it again I would. I've learn so much and I'm so happy that im sure this is not the first and last time I'l be in Croatia, for sure you will see me again!

Winter Leadership Development Congress

Spring Leadership Development Congress

Autumn Functional Meeting

Members of AIESEC Osijek attended several conferences this term. First national conference was Autumn

Functional Meeting held in Split. Second national conference was Winter Leadership Development

Congress held in December in Orahovica and hosted by our local committee. Our members also attended

the Sellapalooza conference for members of External relations and Incoming exchange teams focused on

sales. Our members also attended Local Training Seminars in November and March. Finally, in May 2012,

our delegation went on Spring Leadership Congress, third national conference in AIESEC in Croatia.
