“PASTOR PAUL’S PARAGRAPHS”
Dear Members and Friends of Sweetwater Baptist Church:
The Momentum Conference that was held at Sweetwater last month (9/7-9/8) was awesome!
It was certainly an honor and a privilege to have Dr. Ken Hemphill with us. He is truly one of the
great statesmen of our Southern Baptist Convention. Thank you for your attendance and tremendous
support of this special weekend. A special word of “thanks” goes out to Brian Ayers for planning
and coordinating the event.
Also, the Summer Musical Project that our adult, youth, and children’s choirs shared with us on
Sunday evening, September 22nd was outstanding! It was a wonderful evening of worship and
praise! Thank you Gary Powell, choir members, instrumentalists, and technical crew members
for such an incredible evening!
As you know, we love missions here at Sweetwater. I would also like to say “thank you” to eve-
ryone who contributed to the Janie Chapman offering for state missions throughout the month of
September. Our goal was $2,000. We far exceeded this by receiving a total of $5,738.00. Thanks
Sweetwater for your overwhelming generosity and investment into the Kingdom of God.
Speaking of missions, the “Tater Toters” will be going back to Romania during the dates of
November 12 – 20th. The team consists of Linda Gillespie, Beverly Reece, Kathy Ferguson, Cindy
Stephens, and Deena Latargia. Please, be much in prayer for these ladies as they prepare for their
mission trip. Once more, they will be delivering food parcels, ministering in homes, speaking in
churches, sharing the gospel, and providing shoes, rice, and potatoes in villages. If you would like to
help purchase shoes, rice, potatoes, and staple food items, you may do so by placing your contribu-
tions in an envelope and marking it “Romanian Missions!”
October is going to be an extremely busy month here at Sweetwater! There are numerous spe-
cial events planned including the Day at the Barn (10/20), the Fall Festival (10/27), and the Associa-
tional Fall Meetings (Edgefield – 10/20 and Aiken – 10/29). Also our Senior Adults will be busy en-
joying a Day at Connie Maxwell (10/10) and the Celebrators’ Conference (10/28-10/31). Please,
consult your newsletter and NETMA for more details concerning all these and other activities
throughout the month of October.
Fall is such a beautiful time here in the CSRA. The leaves are turning colors, the air is crisp,
and football abounds. As you enjoy this beautiful season, let me remind you of Psalm 19:1 which
declares, “The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handiwork.”
With a Pastor’s Love,
Brother Paul Philippians 1:3
