Aim: How can we extract an image by

using the force foreground option?

Force Foreground Option

O The force foreground selects images based on color

O It is best used on colors that are fairly uniform in color

O We will be using the eyedropper tool to select the color we want to choose for the selection

O For this project we will be selecting weeds from a picture to incorporate them into the egret image

Steps for Using the Force Foreground Command

1. Open the weeds.psd image in the lesson 7 folder

2. Choose Filter > Extract3. On the right side of the dialog box,

select Force Foreground4. Select the Eyedropper tool, and

click a light area of the weeds5. Select the edge highlighter tool

and set the brush size to 20 or 30

Steps for Forcing the Foreground

6. Highlight the tops of the weeds, where they overlap the dark background

7. Highlight the top 1/3 of the weeds8. In the dialog box choose Display > Black

Matte9. Click Preview button to see selection10. If satisfied click ok11. Add weed layer into Egret layer using

move tool12. Set opacity to 70%Save your work
