Anotheradvantage is that since you'll be requiredto kill numerous mobs, you'll have betterchances of increasing your funds byselling normal junk you get from them orif you're lucky enough, sell weapons andequipment you'll find.

    Private Store

Players can set up shop and peddle theirgoods for other players to buy. The goodthing about this is that players can leavetheir stores running even if they'reinactive. When you start the game, you'llnotice that there are private stores set up inthe entrances of towns and cities sincethese are the busiest parts of the turf. You

    The Unofficial Aion Kinah Guide

can manually set the price of your goodsand since you don't have to pay anythingto set up your store, you'll be confidentthat you'll get your full income.

    Warehouse

These establishments lets you dumpitems for storage free of charge. You canaccess your items from any warehouse inany city. You can expand the number ofslots in your item bank by paying for it.There is also the Account Warehouse(found in the same window as yournormal Warehouse screen) which enablesplayers to exchange items in between anycharacters on the same server on youraccount. This is pretty convenient ifyou'll ever create a new character andyou want to exchange items with thatcharacter without much of a fuss.

    Influence Ratio

This option displays the current factionbalance in the server. It also indicates thecurrent prices being offered for sellingyour goods, the price when purchasinggoods and the percentage of who ownsAbyss Fortresses in the Abyss. Thehigher your faction's influence is, thehigher the price and the lower the taxes.

    Crafting

You may already know there areendless possibilities in earning kinah viacrafting. However, its not just all about

making items and selling them. You canalso offer your services as a crafter forhire. Due to the time and investmentneeded to master a profession, mostplayers turn to master crafters and pay fortheir services. The process is simple: thecustomer gives the design (if the crafterdoesn't have it yet) and the necessarymaterials, the crafter creates the item andgives the finished product to the customer. This transaction can be done via trading orby using the game's mailing system thoughchoosing the latter may just lead toadditional expenses.

Since you can only be a master for oneprofession, choose the one where yourcharacter will benefit the most as well.Sorcerers and Spiritmasters are expectedto become master alchemists, Tempars/Gladiators as masterweaponsmiths/armorsmiths and so on.You can still tackle other professions butcan only get them as high as you possiblycan.

    Refining

This is the method of processing rawmaterials into their higher quality form. You can also refine a material further withthe help of additional reagents andmaterials. You may refer to the basicdiagram below:

    Raw material + reagent = RefinedProduct 1Refined Product 1 + reagent =

    The Unofficial Aion Kinah Guide

    Refined Product 2Refined Product 2 +reagent = Refined Product 3

... and so on. There are also times that:

Refined Product 1 + Refined Product 2= Refined Product 4

Refined materials are combined toproduce the final product. Rememberthat since several processes are involved, you are also increasing the risks offailing. Basically, as you refine moreitems, the demand of raw materials alsoincreases - especially those refinedmaterials that require two refinedpre-requisites. Refining is better done bybulk and when you have more thanenough capital to buy large amounts ofnecessary reagents, just to save time. You can also use this chance to leaveyour character in the process while youdo something else. The market is limitedonly within the Artisan's Hall or Templesince your target consumers will only beinterested in the product you sell withinthat area.

    Hunting

Hunting comes in two different forms:material gathering or equipment farming.Materials that can't be gathered can befarmed from mobs. The best examplesare Rawhides and Fluxes. Some mobsdrop green rare materials that can beused to create unique armors or weapons.Since they drop it randomly, constantly

hunting the known mobs that drop them isthe only solution.

Equipment farming in the other hand, ishunting mobs because of their valuableloot, normally high level equipment thatcan't be created through crafting.Normally, the target for these kind ofhunts are elite mobs (look for the numberof white dots in the orb to the left of theirnames. The more dots, the higher the rankof the mob) and named, semi-boss/heromobs (best examples are Chief Kraka andChieftain Kumaron). These guys are reallytough and hard to defeat. It will takeseveral people to take them down. However, they do drop high levelgreen/blue accessories and equipment sofarming them is worth the trouble.

    Equipment Extraction

You have the option to break up yourunneeded equipment using Extraction Kitsthat can be purchased from shops andobtain enchantment stones that can beused for crafting and upgrading yourgears. Extracting an equipment in oftenyield one Enchantment stone but if you'relucky and it proc's, you'll get either anenchantment stone at a higher level, higherquantity of the same level enchantmentstone, or better yet, a higher quantity ofhigher level enchantment stones.

You can make a profit out of it byselling enchantment stones in brokers. Just

  • -13- www.killerguides.com

    All rights reserved.

    The Unofficial Aion Kinah Guide

consider the selling value of theequipment you're planning to extract inTB (Trade Broker) plus the cost of theextraction kit. So if a LV20 gear costsaround 20,000 kinah in TB plus theextraction cost of 1,100 kinah, you cansell your enchantment stone above thatrange.

For more details about extraction andenchantment stones, see the section withthe same title.

    Gathering/ Vitality Extraction

This takes an awful lot of time and will really test your patience. The required extraction points of gatherable materials increase per area so its a good practice to spend some time farming nodes until you're at least 5-10 levels ahead of the extraction point requirement of a node in the area you're in. For example, if the area has 110p nodes, keep gathering them until you increase your extraction level to 115 or 120. This way, you'll have the assurance that you'll be able to extract from new nodes that you may find in the next area. If you're gathering a material from a node which level is 0-9 levels equal to you, you're gathering skill will increase by 1 after gathering 8 materials. It is also recommended to break your character's victory animation after a successful extraction by slightly moving him/her, so you can start gathering again. This will save you a

half-second or a second in gathering, which can accumulate in the long run.

When gathering, there are two possiblethings that may happen: you get theregular material or a proc'd version of it.For example, when gathering Titanium, there will be chances that you'll get a HighGrade Titanium (green) instead. There willalso be times that you'll gather an evenhigher output of those materials (blue). Itdoesn't happen too often but if you keepgathering several nodes, it is notimpossible to collect a number of theseproc'd items. Proc'd items are priced fortheir rarity thus you'll be able to make aprofit from them or even use them incrafting high-level blue items.

Though time-consuming, there are manybenefits that you'll enjoy by being a fulltime gatherer:

    - You'll have access to both commonand uncommon materials needed forcrafting

    - You can easily complete quests thatrequire gathered items and materials

    - You can sell collected mats (materials)needed for quests

    - You can sell proc'd and hi-quality matson your own price

There will always be players that won'tbe that patient enough to grind severalhours to gather materials and raise theirextraction skills. That's where you come

    The Unofficial Aion Kinah Guide

in. By having the ability to collectwhatever you want, you won't have anyproblems turning over quests that requirecertain materials. In turn, you can open aprivate store in front of the NPCs givingthe quests so players that wanted tocomplete the quests will have easy accessto those required materials. You'll alsofind players looking for hard-to-findmaterials via Trade Channel. Most of thetime, they'll be looking for proc'd itemsand rare fluxes, randomly dropped byvarious mobs.

Raw materials can be a good source ofsteady, low/average income. In demandmaterials such as metals (titanium, adamantium), aether and gems (garnet, topaz, lapis lazuli) can be sold in bulk orper quest requirement. You can startselling high level materials since not allpeople have the patience to increase theirextraction level.

    Aether Extraction

Aether can only be extracted fromlocations where you can fly. Forexample, for Elyos, that would be inVerteron and Ardus Shrine (HolyGround of Miraju) and for theAsmodians, in Altgard and Impetusium. These odes are airborne, making it harderto collect them. Fortunately, compared tocommon gatherable materials, it takeslesser number of them needed to collect

and increase a level. It is recommended tohave a good stock of Wind Serums whenyou're planning to spend some timegathering these odes. Low level odes canbe found in lower altitudes while higherlevel odes will require you to fly higher, thus further increasing the difficulty andrisk of gathering it. Before gathering, always look for a safe landing place thatyou can immediately land on whengathering. You can gather up to 5 timesper ode. You can also get proc'd aetherpowder/crystals.

Aether is also needed as a catalyst incrafting armors and weapons, and also araw material for morphing so the demandfor it doesn't go down. You can even makeprofit out of it, by selling your aethercrystals in bulk, and by keeping the evenrarer, high-grade aether crystals you mayextract and selling them above marketprice.

    Morphing/ Conversion

Additionally, you can convert aetherinto more raw materials. Conversionconsumes DP (Divine Points) and ofcourse, some aether. By default, you canonly convert lower level materials such asiron. To be able to morph higher qualitymaterials, you'll need high quality aethers.More recipes can be bought from thequartermasters in Abyss fortresses that youcontrol. Since DP is earned by killingenemies and aether is gathered in the field,

this process is best done alongside withhunting and aether gathering.

    Manastone Conversion

This is one of the skills alchemists cantake advantage off. They can combinevarious manastones and convert theminto more powerful forms.

    Cube

This is your personal storage space.Every type of item occupies one slot;items of the same type are groupedtogether in a single slot. You'll start witha meager number of slots which can beexpanded by cube artisans in major citiesby paying a small fee. The same thinggoes with your warehouse space. Youmay want to consider expanding bothyour cube and warehouse spaces toensure that you won't ran out of space incase you need to store some valuableitems.

    Trade Broker

    Trade Broker

Trade Broker are places where you canplace your item for other players to see.The good thing about this is that you canregister and leave your items in the TradeBrokers and just come back for yoursales later. If other players purchasedyour registered items, then you'll get themoney once you settled your accountwith the trade broker. In contrast with thePrivate Store, placing items in TradeBrokers won't require your constantattention so you can go off and do yourthing. However, TB's require aplacement fee, in percentage if the itemyour are registering. Obviously, registering a high-priced item will costyou a reasonable fee. You will benotified once your item(s) getspurchased. You can only consign 10items at a time; you can pull out itemsthough the placement fee you've spentwon't be refunded to you so don'thaphazardly put items up for sale. This isalso a good place to monitor the price ofitems, especially stigmas, materials, fluxes and enchantment stones.

The Art of Buy and Sell

This is an old-age trade system. Theprocess is simple; scout for cheap items,

buy them and sell them. To do this, you'llhave to check the trade broker regularly, atleast twice or thrice a day. Since the itemssold there are posted by other players, theitems' individual prices will varyindefinitely, even for the same type ofitem. For example, you see high-gradetitanium ores. The highest price is around8,000 kinah each while the lowest is 3,000kinah. What you can do is buy the lowerpriced ores, then resell them a bit lowerthan the next item's price. In this example, you can sell those ores for 7500 ot 7750kinah each. It won't always guarantee sureincome but it can yield decent profit ifdone correctly, at the right time and rightitems, especially for in-demand equipmentand materials. Keep an eye out for privatestores as well since most of these guys justwanted to clear their inventories and earnkinah along the way so they'll sell theiritems below the market price. You cancheck the item in the trade broker'sinventory and compare its market value. Ifthe private store price is cheaper, thenobviously you'll want to buy it and post itin the trade broker, with a competing priceagainst the same item you used as basis.Start doing buy and sell from small stuffonly like pots or quest items. Questmaterials that are rarely dropped by mobs(example: Expert Fluxes) should be a goodstart. Sell them not in bulk, but per set, asneeded to complete their respective quests.

    Controlling Supply/ Demand

Hoarding is a bad practice in real lifeand you'll be condemned for it. Howeverin game, it is a good way of controllingthe demand. For example, FineWeapon/Armor/Accessory fluxes arenecessary for crafting the required itemsto pass the expert test. You can expecteach of these fluxes to sell around 8,000- 10,000 each. Since these are notproduced but dropped by mobs, you canhoard them by checking the broker dailyor twice a day, buying the low pricedfluxes and hold them to drive the pricesup due to limited supply. Then you canresell them at least 5-10% less than thenearest competitor's price. I suggestavoid doing this in common andgatherable materials such as aether, elemental stones, rawhides, etc.

Selling more than 10 items at a time

The trade broker will only allow you toregister up to 10 items for sale at a time.Instead of waiting for your items to getsold before you can post a new one, youmay create multiple, alternate charactersthat can post the items you want to salein your behalf. All characters on thesame server share the same accountwarehouse. This is the cheapest way oftransferring items between charactersfree, instead of sending them via mail.Remember though that characters canonly have access to the trade broker and

warehouse upon becoming a daeva(LV10). You can create up to 8 charactersin one account.

    Filtering Items the Easier way

Tired of manually typing the wholenames of items you're trying to find in theTrade Broker? There is an easier way ofdoing it. You just need to enter the firsttwo or three letters of each word of theitem you're looking for. Make sure to havethe category "All" selected on the left sideof your pane.

For example, you're looking for GreaterHealing Potion. You just need to enter "GrHe Po" or "Gre Hea Pot" then search. Allitems related to the entry (designs, finishedproducts) will be displayed. So, you caneasily search for Worthy Noble DurableAdamantium Plate Greaves without thetyping the whole thing. Try it!

    Private Store

Aion allows you to peddle your goodsanywhere you wish, in case your TradeBroker registry is full and you don't wantto sell your goods to cheap merchantNPCs. You can sell pretty much anythingand price them any amount you wish. However, to effectively earn kinah and toattract costumers, you need to considerthe following factors:

    - Location

This the prime factor you need to lookinto. The best place to set up shop wouldbe places where most people converge.Obviously, you can set your shops intowns and cities, near the flighttransporters, obelisks, teleporters ormajor streets. You can also set up shop inthe entrances of major dungeons duringpeak hours. Remember that if there isn'tthat many people in the town you'recurrently in, try switching channels. Also, please note that the goods you'reselling will affect the location you shouldconsider setting your private store. If youhave a lot of crafting materials you wishto sell, you can set up shop in your city'sTemple/ Hall of Artisans. If you havesome tradeable quest items, sell themnear the NPCs giving those quests. If youwant to sell potions, scrolls, arrows, etc,you may want to peddle your goods near

the entrances of dungeons or along a pathaway from any major settlements.

    - Price

The reason why some people can't makekinah from private stores is that they tendto go overprice their goods. For example, apepper is needed for a quest in a village. You can buy the pepper from the foodmerchant in the major city, a long walkfrom the village you're in. That pepper canbe bought for only 150+ kinah. Then youreturn to the village, set up shop beside theNPC that gave the quest and sell thepeppers for around 15000 kinah each. Theproblem here is that people wants to earneasy cash. You should consider yourpotential costumers too. Is your pricereasonable enough? Will they considerwalking all the way to the merchant thatsells the goods I am selling or will theyjust choose convenience to buy from me?Be considerate. A 5% or 10% increasefrom the default price should be fair.

    - Store Message

Its your very own advertising. Since thestore message is limited to a set number ofcharacters, you must be creative in tellingpeople what they'll find in your store.Generic messages like "Various Stuff" or"Cheap Items" won't spur that muchattention. However, if you say somethinglike "Cheap green gears and weapons!"that should give them the exact idea whatyou're selling. Just be creative. Keep your

  • -19- www.killerguides.com

    The Unofficial Aion Kinah Guide

    message short but concise.

    - Goods

With the game's limited store message,it will be a challenge to sellmiscellaneous items and tell people whatyou're selling. So that's why it would bebetter to sell one or two types of goods ata time. If you have potions, then sell onlypotions. If you have equipment, sell onlythose equipment. This way, you can meetwhat people are looking for. Besides, itmakes it easier to create an interestingstore message if you have one or twotypes of items to sell only.

How to start your Private Store

    - Find a suitable place and press Y toopen your Private Store window.

    - Right-click the items your want tosell in your inventory and a "SellingPrice" window will appear. Usually, theitems' AP (auto-price) value will bedisplayed, which will give you the ideahow much the item initially costs. If youhave multiple copies of the item and youwant to sell them individually, holdSHIFT + Right-click.

    - You can only sell up to 10 items at atime. Remember that items "locked" inyour private store can't be used, traded orsold to NPC merchants unless youremove them from your private store's"items for sale" list back to yourinventory.

Remember that due to the recentchanges, you can't just leave yourcharacter in PS mode for more than 30minutes since the game will consider youidle/afk and will automatically kick youout.

    Community

The game is not entirely made to beplayed alone. There will always be timesthat you'll need the help of other peopleto survive or gain mutual benefits. Thissection will give you brief overview onhow the social/ community feature of thegame works.

    Group

Players can form a single group thatcan share quests, experience, kinah andloot. This is the basic form of teaming upwith other players to gain mutualinterests. Groups are really necessary forclearing areas with elite mobs such asinstances and campaign dungeons.Groups are also necessary to complete[Group] quests that yield much higherexp and kinah rewards. The maximumnumber of players in a group is six. Raredrops are often decided by an in-gamedice roll. The player with the highestvalue (maximum 100) during thedice-roll will receive the item. Playersthat are not interested in the item mayabandon dice rolling so the item can bedistributed to other players. Only leaderscan invite new members and they caneven kick unwanted characters from thegroup.

    Alliance

Two groups may team up and form andalliance. With the combined forces of bothparties, alliances are needed to deal withmuch stronger foes or raid fortresses. Theonly laydown is that you cannot do questsobjectives or receive quest drops while inan alliance.

    Legion

Legions are permanent teams whosemembers are essentially recruited. Theseare real allegiances composed of membersthat are ready to help each other. Unlikeordinary groups where members are onlyheld by mutual interests, legions are morelike your "guild" or "crew". You may joinor create a legion on your own, though itwould be better if you start off with somereal-life friends playing the game. Playersthat are members of legions will have theoption to have their legion's name to bedisplayed under their names. Legions arepractically needed in organized boss anddungeon raids.

    Social

You have the ability to keep a friendslist and manually add/remove people fromit. This is good to see who's online or not.You can send "whispers" or privatemessages to them, especially if you needhelp on something.

    Trade Channel

This is a chat channel specifically used for announcing your items for sale or the

ones you're looking for. Its a goodalternative of letting people now whatyou have for sale. You can also announcethe items you have posted in the TradeBroker so potential buyers of the item(s)you posted will be alerted. It isrecommended that you hotlink the itemsyou wanted to sell. It will allow otherplayers to directly click the link youposted in the chat channel and view theactual item's descriptions and properties. You can do this by pressing down CTRLand right-clicking the item you wish tolink. This will save you time in typingthe items' names manually and will alsomake it easier for people to carefullyexamine the item, even without meetingyou. You can also hotlink quests, if youwant let the other players know thatyou're selling the requiredmaterials/items for that quest.

    LFG Channel

This channel is used for players thatare looking for potential members orlooking for available groups to join inGroup quests or grinding. This is thequickest way of finding temporary alliesfor quests, rifting, raiding, boss fightsand many more.

    EnchantmentStones

    Overview

Enchantments are one of the threepossible ways of enhancing your gears. You can obtain enchantments byextracting them from any equipment. Toextract them, you must purchaseExtracting Tools from General GoodsMerchants in major cities. Usually, highlevel gear (indicated by their color whitebeing the lowest, orange highest) yieldshigh level Enchantment Stones.Remember that extracting enchantmentstones means destroying the gearpermanently so I recommend doing thison untradeable equipment (usually questrewards) or rare ones that can't be usedby your character. Enchantment Stonescan only be extracted from Armors,Leggings/ Greaves, Pauldrons, Glovesand Boots/ Shoes. Enchantment Stonesare quite expensive to produce(auto-price value of the item + ExtractionTools) so they can be sold for decentkinah. Higher level enchantment stonesextracted from higher level gears are theones that will give you a nice incomeshould you sell them via trade broker.

    Applying Enchantment Stones

Enchantment Stones vary by levels. These levels don't have any relation toyour character's level but used as areference to the level of the equipment youwish to enhance. For example, a LV20Enchantment Stone can be used toenhance a LV15 equipment with higherchance of success compared to a LV17Enchantment Stone. Your equipment's"required level" is also your equipment'slevel. For gears acquired as quest rewards, the quest's level where the gear has beenawarded from will determine theequipment's level. I recommend usingEnchantment Stones at least 4 levels abovethe equipment's level you're trying toenhance for better chances of succeeding. You can still use lower level enchantmentstones with very low success rates but it isworth doing if you're enchanting anequipment for the first time.

Benefits of enchantment stonesYou can enhance your gear up to 10

times. Failed attempts will reduce your"enhancement" level by one though itwon't fall to a negative value even if you'reunlucky enough to fail several times. Youmay refer to the list below to learn howmuch bonus you can get from enhancingdifferent types of equipment. Just multiplythe bonus stat to the enhancement level toget the actual bonus. So if you can get +6in defense per level, you'll get +60 formaxing it out. An enchanted equipment

    Enchant or sell via NPC?

After extracting an equipment, therewill be times that you'll need to make adecision to sell the stone or to use itinstead. If you really need some kinah, ofcourse selling your enchantment stonesare your best bet. Just remember to checkthe current marker/trade broker price ofthe enchantment stone before selling it.The prices of enchantment stones will ofcourse, depend by level. However, if youare pretty stable financially and you wantyour current gear to be upgraded, then byall means enchant it. Avoid the dilemnaof risking kinah and enchantment stonesby checking the next set of availablegears. Normally, I would say it isefficient to change your equipment every5-7 levels or so. Don't go gaga and maxthe enchantment stones for every gearyou come across with; this is a blatantexcuse for wasting kinah and won't helpyou at all. Just try to enchant them for2-5 levels at most then upgrade normallyas needed.

For example a +3 Plate Armor willhave +18 boost to its defense rating.

    Manastones

    Overview

Manastones are a form of enhancementstones that have fixed stat boosts in themand can be inserted to socketed items. You can equip them to weapons, shields, armors, pauldrons, leggings/greaves,gloves and boots. They vary in statboosts which increases incrementally asyou find them in higher level forms.Basically, you can equip as manymanastones on a single equipment aslong as it has a free socket or slot. Thenumber of slots or sockets depends onthe rarity of the equipment. White gearswill have one sockets, greens have two, blues have 3 and Oranges carry 4 or 5.

    Attaching Manastones

Attaching manastones is simple.Simply right-click the manastone youwish to attach and "drop" / click it toyour desired item that has a free slot.Remember that similar to enchanting, manastone socketing can fail to. Thepenalty for failure is that the previouslyattached manastones (for two sockets andabove) will be destroyed, returning theequipment to its original, pre-socketingstatus. To avoid wasting your preciousmanastones, always consider attachingyour least valued manastones first before

attaching the higher value ones. (Considerattaching whites prior to greens first)

    Removing Manastones

Should you wish to remove themanastones previously attached to yourequipment to give way to better ones, youcan visit an NPC that removes manastonesfor a small fee. They are usually found inmajor cities. Unfortunately, you can'tchoose which manastones to remove as theprocess completely destroys allmanastones currently attached to yourequipment.

Here is the list of all availablemanastones in the game. So far, there areonly two rarity levels in manastones:whites and greens. You can also createhigher level manastones by combininglower level ones and a catalyst/reagentthrough Alchemy. The stats they boostshould be pretty much self-explanatory.There will also be a recommendationsection before the end of this section tohelp you decide which manastones tokeep/ equip and which ones should yousell.

Since NPC merchants won't give youthat much for any manastone you sellthem, you should consider sellingunneeded manastones through yourprivate store and trade brokers. If youwish, you can also attach unwantedmanastones to the equipment you want tosell to somehow increase its sellingvalue. Depending on your character'sclass, there are some manastones youmay want to prioritize equipping andsome you can sell.

    Templars

Templars normally stack up HP, Blockand Shield Defense manastones sincethey rely on defending themselves fromenemy attacks and taking most of thebrunt themselves. They can also useMagical Resistance manastones tofurther increase their defense against

spell damage but since magical resistanceis already boosted by accessories, it willbe the player's decision to further boostthis stat or if they want to raise anotherprimary stat instead. Templars also haveskills that require constant use of shieldsso these manastones will improve theirresiliency against damage as well asgiving them more chances of triggeringtheir shield counter skills. Some templarswho sacrifice defense over damage willstack up attack and physical critical hitstones.

    Gladiators

Their main role is to deal high damageto enemies so Attack, Accuracy andPhysical Critical Hit manastones will be ofgreat help to maximize their damagepotential. They can also use HPmanastones to further increase their totalHP and to give them more breathing spacewhen taking damage. They will needaccuracy manastones to ensure that theirdeadly attacks land on the target whileattack and physical hit manastones furtherenhances their already high damagingcapability.

    Assassins

With their average HP and low defense,Assassins rely on their high evasion statsto evade enemy attacks. They are alsoknown for dealing high damage toopponents through critical hits, especiallywhen weilding dual daggers. Daggers are

    The Unofficial Aion Kinah Guide

known for this fast attacks and highcritical damage. They can furtherenhance these strong points by usingevasion, accuracy and physical criticalhit manastones. Assassins will purelystack critical hit stones until they reachthe level cap (440). Once attained, theyare free to use any other manastones, especially evasion and/or accuracy.

    Rangers

As another subclass of the Scout,Rangers share the same limitations withAssassins: average HP and low defense(due to the ability to wear leather armoronly) Since their strength is deal damagefrom afar and to slow down enemyadvance, they need to use Accuracy,Attack and Physical Critical Hitmanastones. This will ensure that most oftheir shots hit their targets hard andaccurately. They may also equip someevasion manastones for extra precautionif ever enemies get in melee range toattack them. Similar to assassins, theywill stack Physical Critical Hit stonesuntil they reach the softcap then stackany manastones of their choice tocomplement their desired build.

    Sorcerers

Sorcerers can further increase theirmagical damage capability by equippingMagic Boost and Magical Accuracymanastones. Since they consume a lot ofMP due to constant spell usage, others

may consider stacking up MP Boost;however, Magical Accuracy is favoredsince it also increases their chances ofsuccessfully bypassing the target'sresistance and easier time to inflict statuseffects on the target.

    Spiritmasters

Since Spiritmasters are also spellcasters, they'll need to equip Magic Boost andMagical Accuracy manastones to makethem more effective in battle. They toohave skills that inflict status ailments, especially their dreaded Fear skill soMagical Accuracy will help a lot inensuring that their spells will always hit.

    Clerics

Clerics may stack up HP, Magical Boostand Shield Block. Unfortunately, MagicalBoost does not improve their healingspells; just the damage of their spells. HPand Shield Block manastones will increasethe cleric's survivability against physicaland magical attacks, giving them moretime to heal themselves and their allies. Some clerics however will opt to stack HPmanastones only, giving them a massiveHP boost that further helps theirsurvivability in group or solo battles.

    Chanters

In addition to the Chanters'auras/mantras, a chanter's main strength ishis/her flexibility. Almost all chanters willstack up Physical Critical Hit stones until

    The Unofficial Aion Kinah Guide

they reach the cap. The chanter's mainoffensive strengths lie on theirknockdown, stuns and other procchances, which is further complementedby high critical hit probabilities. Afterreaching the cap, it will be their decisionto further enhance their offensivestrength by socketing +attack manastoneor go defensive by socketing HP orMagical Resistance stones.

    Godstones

    Overview

Godstones are used entirely forenchanting weapons and by giving themadditional effects. For example, if acertain godstone is attached to weapon, the weapon will have a % chance toinflict "blind" status to the target for Xseconds. Godstones are available inhigher level portions of the game(generally LV30 and above). They canbe acquired the same fashion asmanastones though less frequently. Moreeffective godstones may be awardedthrough quests. Some godstones can bepurchased by exchanging AP to one ofthe administration officers in the abyss.

    Attaching Godstones

Unfortunately, you can't attachGodstones alone. You'll need payGodstone Enchanter NPCs found inmajor cities to do that for you. You canalso remove the godstones the same way.Like manastones, removed godstones arelost forever so you may want to carefullyconsider the weapon where you'll attachyour valuable godstone. Since the expertswill attach your godstones, don't expectany failures.

    Fluxes

Fluxes are one of the key materials forall crafts (except cooking which needsmeats). Fluxes can be obtained from mobdrops like the other raw materials such asrawhides and elemental stones. Fluxesare divided to different levels, which inturn can be used for crafting items fromthe same level range. Also there areordinary fluxes which can be used forcreating white/common items andhigh-quality fluxes which can be used forcrafting higher level or better qualityitems. If you want to gather specificfluxes, you'll need to defeat mobs withinthat flux's level range.

    Quickstart Tips

Before grinding for Kinah, here aresome general tips that will help you inthe long run.

    1. Avoid unnecessary expenses

As much as possible, avoidunnecessary expenses. You don't need toupgrade gear too often; especially whenon your way to Ascension. Decent gearscan be dropped by enemies; especiallynamed monsters that will appearoccasionally in certain spots of the game.Equipment can be pretty priceyespecially when bought from TradeBroker. Besides, almost all services inAion requires a reasonable amount ofkinah and there will be times that you'llhave no choice but to spend (example:teleporting between your capital city andsome major locations) Also, since skillsin Aion are not learned automatically byyour characters, you must buy skillmanuals as well. Just make sure not tospend too much compared to how muchyou earn kinah. Updating your gearevery 5-8 levels should be good

    2. Sell junk, keep materials. After defeating enemies, they may

drop gold, materials, equipment, manastones and sometimes, worthlessjunk. These junk items (when you hover

your pointer on them, they won't have anystats or identifiers in them) can be sold toNPCs for good money. Make it a habit tocollect every single loot you'll find, evenfrom abandoned remains. As you workyour way on higher level enemies, theprice of these junk items increases as well. This is the easiest way to earn kinah by theway. Also, make sure to keep anymaterials you find; this will save you a lotof time, especially when you're ready tocraft items.

    3. Patience, patience, patience

This guide won't help you become amillionaire in an instant but will rathergive you tips on how to efficiently manageyour hard-earned kinah and how to earnmore. You won't get rich by farmingenemies alone; so far, crafting andgrinding in instances are the effectiveways of obtaining valuable items to sell sotake time to defeat enemies, collect theirspoils and harvest any ore, herb or aetheryou come across with. Not only that thiswill help you develop your collectingskills and character levels, it will also helpyou in earning extra Kinah and havingmore junks to sell to NPCs.

    4. Make friends, find allies.

Your job will be a lot easier if you havea partner or two to help you clear certaindungeons in the game. Common enemydrops are alternately rounded to eachmember while uncommon and rare drops

  • -35- www.killerguides.com

    All rights reserved.

    The Unofficial Aion Kinah Guide

are given to players through a dice roll. You can only have a full party of sixmembers and all of you will share thesame quest update if all of have the samequests. That means that if you're requiredto kill a certain number of mobs and yourallies make the kill, it will count to allmembers having that objective. Also, there are group quests that will requireyou to team up with other people, simplybecause the target mobs are elites, ordinary mobs with exceptional strengththat can't soloed, even with a fairly highlevel character.

    5. Tackle repeatable quests.

There are repeatable quests in the gamethat can be repeated for a certain numberof times (at least 100). You will earn thesame reward(s) and experience. However, repeatable quests are notmeant to be a cheap way to grind andraise your character's level and kinah butrather a good alternative if you need aquick kinah or experience boost.

    6. Using potions is better than dying.

If you are a soloing priest, cleric andchanter then you shouldn't have anyproblems keeping yourself alive. However for other non-healer classes, using potions in the middle of the battlecan be a life saver. Dying in Aion willmake you lose a certain percentage ofyour total experience, along with nastydebuffs which can be recovered by

paying a Soul Healer by the obelisks intowns. And believe me, it gets pricey ifyou die too often so its better to buy manypotions instead of saving kinah and notbuying any while having the increased riskof dying.

    7. Rest often

You can rest when not in combat torecover HP/MP faster. This is the mosteffective method of keeping yourselfhealed up before facing a mob of enemies. This is applicable to characters that relyheavily on potions and bandages shouldtake a few seconds to sit down and rest, instead of using up their valuable recoveryitems.

    8. Sell junk to NPCs, valuables toTrade Brokers

Selling junk to NPC merchants is a goodway of relieving your limited cube spaceand to earn extra income. However, avoidselling valuables to them, like "green"equipment that your character can't use. They'll only give you a small amount(around 25% of the item's original worth)for any equipment you sell. Sell theseitems to Trade Brokers, as other playersmay find interest in your item and buy it ata much higher price. Remember thatsoul-bound equipment and equipmentrewarded from quests can't be traded;these equipment unfortunately, can onlybe sold to NPC merchants. Normally, white weapons and equipment are sold in

  • -36- www.killerguides.com

    The Unofficial Aion Kinah Guide

this manner, unless you don't have bettergear.

    9. Collect/ extract whatever you find.

There will be quests that will requireyou to collect certain materials likeherbs, aether and ores. They will haveindividual collecting skill levelrequirements. The more you collect, thefaster your collecting skills improve;thus, it will be easier for you to collectany material you come across. Besides, aside from being used in crafting, thereare quests that will require you to gathera certain number of materials. The moreyou harvest, the more chances of gettingproc'd items which can be sold at aconsiderably higher price or even used inhigh quality items.

    10. Channel Jumping

The best way to obtain better gear toequip your character and to sell will befarming regular and uncommon mobs. Some of the mobs that drops blues andexclusive greens takes a few hours torespawn. Jumping from one channel toanother will give you a chance toencounter that special mob you'relooking for. You can also use this featureto jump to channel where most of thepeople are located. Most people areplaying on channel 1, which is good ifyou want to sell your goods via privatestore. Select a higher numbered channelso there won't be that many players in the

area you're trying to farm. To do this, go toMenu - Support - Change Channel.Youcan't change channels in your race's majorcity. There are also maps where you can'tchange channels. As you reach the higherlevel areas in the game (Eltnen, Morheim,Heiron, Beluslan), you wont be able tochange channels since there will be onechannel for these areas.

    11. Competitive Prices

Don't be an opportunist. Avoid pricingyour items too much off their originalworth, unless those are extremely rare orhard-to-acquire items. This will ensurethat you'll receive your income faster, making you spend lesser time peddlingyour wares and giving you more time tobuild your character. You may want tocheck an item's market price and sell it abit lower as people will always choose tograb the cheapest offers.

    12. Extract unusuable/ unneededequipment to enchantment stones

If you have acquired rare equipment thatis untradeable and unusable by yourcharacter, you may consider extractingEnchantment Stones from them instead ofselling them for some cheap kinah. Therarer the equipment, the higher levelenchantment stone you'll get. EnchantmentStones are used to enhance your gears, adding stat bonuses making them moreeffective. If you're lucky, enchantmentstones may proc and give you a higher

    The Unofficial Aion Kinah Guide

level stone or multiple copies of them. You may also opt to sell them if youwish. To extract them, you'll need to buyextraction tools from General GoodsMerchants in major cities.

    13. Always carry multiple returnscrolls

Traveling in between locations is notcheap and not a walk in the park either.Save time in travelling or teleportingoften by keeping return scrolls of yourmajor cities, especially in Sanctum andPandaemonium. You can also sell thesescrolls in far away locations with noflight transporters.

    14. Enable the option to view themobs' names

Toggle the game option todisplay/show the mobs' names so youcan easily spot named mobs or bossesyou're hunting. It is a lot easier thanmanually clicking on the mobs to checktheir names. Besides, some of the namedmobs and mini-bosses in the game lookexactly like their normal counterparts soit will a good way of spotting them froma distance.

    Kinah Grinding

Before starting, I strongly suggest notto concentrate on grinding Kinah whenstarting a new game. The first 9 levels ofthe game is all about characterdevelopment. You'll get access to bettermethods of earning Kinah effectivelyonce you've become a Daeva and gainedaccess to your capital city's artisans. Ifyou follow the generic tips mentionedabove and you'll have a fair amount ofpocket money while keeping yourequipment, supplies and skills up to date.I will also put details regarding standard(side) quests provided by NPCs,especially those that will reward youwith kinah. The main idea here isspending your kinah wisely whileearning it constantly.

Note: Mob drops listed in the guide arenot DEFINITE. The game is notoriousfor its very random drop rates so itsreally hard to keep track of the mobsindividual drop rates and list. The itemsin the list will show you the recordeddrops so far. Also, some of the basicdrops (manastones, elemental stones, fluxes, etc) may be omitted from some ofthe lists to accommodate more valuabledrops such as greens or equipment.Certain mobs that don't drop anythingvaluable won't be listed as well.

You may want to fight enemies until youreach LV2, then do all the quests availablein this area to reach LV3, before reachingthe village.

Kerub's scale, Sparky Carapace and theBone Powders from the Snufflers andSlinks sell for 60 kinah each. You can alsooccasionally get manastones, power shardsand equipment. If you're extremely lucky, you may also get a "green" along the way.(The name of the equipment is coloredgreen, indicating higher rarity and thus, more powerful stats compared to theequipment available at its level) You mayconsider farming the LV2-3 Kerubs andGrain Snufflers as they tend to dropequipment and manastones more often.Kerubs also drop a tiny amount of kinahbut not that high, compared to what youcan earn from selling their junk drops.

Talk to your class' trainer and get somenew skill manuals. Sell any of yourcollected junk loot to the merchants toget more kinah. You can also start yourfirst campaign quest by talking to Kalio. Now complete some of the pendingquests while triggering new ones:

    Cliona Lake

(LV 2-4)The junks dropped by enemies here

still sell for 60 kinah each. Farming Pink Beak Airons and Bigfoot Kerubar will give you more chances in obtaining manastones and the usual ample kerub kinah drop. Tirratirra is a unique mob that drops LV4 green Tiara's Boots, Shoes and Gloves. It looks like any ordinary Airon so it may be hard to spot without pointing your cursor on it. It is usually spotted near and around the small island in the middle of the lake. Paruru Slowlegs is also a unique mob in this area, usually wandering along the "road" in the western side of the lake, accompanied by normal Kerubs. It drops the Carrot Juice of Paruru, which is a potent HP/MP recovery potion at this point of the game. Its price starts at 450

kinah though it is not guaranteed if thereare willing players that will buy it at amuch higher price, should you decide tosell it. Besides, its not that you can farm itfrom him often.

    Daminu Forest

(LV3-5) Bellepig Leather and Worg's Claws fetch for 120 kinah each, while others still fetch for 60 kinah. Shortbristle Bellepigs are worth hunting in this area since they drop various green equipment like the Ranger's Shield and Ranger's Warhammer, both are LV4 equipment that can be sold at a much higher price. If you're lucky, you can also score a green LV7 Cliona Tunic (cloth) and various manastones. Besides, these can be in demand for starting players that are seeking good starting equipment. Fauron is a unique abex that appears in the northwestern part of the forest. It may drop green equipment like Fauron's Chain Greaves and Cloth/ Leather Leggings, which is a must for starting characters. The good thing about this is that you can farm these items from him over and over again and sell your loot in your private store. Just remember not to sell them at a ridicously high price. Remember that other players at this moment are not that rich to afford tens of thousands worth of a single

equipment. Be warned though sinceordinary Grove Abexes will aid theFauron when attacked.

    Melphoreh's Campsite/ Deforested Area

(LV5-7) The Dukaki Woodcutter candrop Cliona Chain Greaves, a LV7equipment which the auto-price starts at1950 kinah. This is a good upgrade foryour character (slightly better thanFauron's Chain Greaves) or a good itemto sell at a much higher price, especiallyto Priests and Warriors. The Kobolds'Rusty Shackles fetch and Claws fromWorgs fetch for 120 kinah each. AlphaWorg Scar, found in their den in thesouthwestern part of the Deforested Areaalso drops some greens and high level, normal equipment. If you plan to farmgreens from this unique beast, youshould be patient since it respawns aftera few minutes; not to mention otherplayers that may be also hunting it.

    Agaric Spore Road

(LV 6-8) The Gatekeeper Kirin is aunique sparkie found in the small spring(with the light dome) along the roadleading to the Tamolia Mine. You caneasily spot it since it is the largest flyingsparkie among the normal group of threesparkies found in the area. You can jumpchannels to farm armors for all class types,as well as some manastones and a greenSparkie Carapace Shield, prized bywarriors at this point. The common junkdrops of the enemies here still fetch for120 kinah each. Shade Fungens are alsoknown to drop greens like Cliona Mail/Chain Boots and Mercenary Captain'sTome while Fearless Fungies may dropMercenary Captain's Warhammer.

    Kabarah Strip Mine

(LV 7-9) There are no quest-givers in this area but several campaign quests will take place here. The large-bodied Tursin Outlaws drop a fair amount of kinah whenever you kill them, not to mention you can sell their junk drops for 120 kinah as well. During the beta, they ones with striped shirts are called Overseers. However, it seems that they were given the same name after the release. The best

(LV8-10) These enemies drop basicitems, with the inclusion of manastonesand power shards, so you don't need tospend too much time farming items andkinah from them. Verteron Swamp

LV10-12 Swamp Slinks and Sharp Horn Starcrabs are worth farming here since they tend to drop greens equipment worthy of collecting and selling to trade brokers in the city or through your private store. Their common junk can also be sold for 120 kinah each. Lesser Elemental Stones and Fluxes should be kept as they can be used as crafting materials. Also, be watchful (and careful) with Paksigue, a giant potcrab that roams the swamp. It is a

    Northern TolbasForest

    LV11-13

Keep Lepharist Crests since it isneeded to complete the quest A Seed ofEvil in Sanctum. Since this is arare/uncommon drop, you can sell anymultiple copies that you'll get for someeasy kinah

Starving and Violent Worgs arecommon enemies found along the roadbetween the swamp and the forest. Theyonly drop basic white gears which youcan extract to upgrade your gears or sellthe enchantment stones for profit.Thieves drop a wide range of greenLV12 chain and cloth gears, includingmanastones: MP+55 and PhysicalCritical Hit. Since the latter is in demand, you won't have any problems selling it,in case your character won't benefit fromequipping it.

Boss Cavil is a boss mob that you'llneed to defeat to complete a quest soexpect a lot of people trying to wait forhim to spawn. He does drop some notablegreens but since his spawn rate is not thatfast and you have a lot of competition, itsnot that convenient to stay in his spawnpoint (Belbua's Farm) to farm him. TheWild Striped Tog drops Minor Accessoryand Armor fluxes, so keep them for futurecraft tasks. They are also known to drop aLV15 green leather Hunter's Hat. At thispoint, common enemy junk sell for 200kina h each so you won't stay penniless bysimply farming them.

    Tolbas Village

    Kinah Earning Opportunity

There is a small business opportunityhere. You can buy Verteron Peppers forless than 150 kinah from Drasia, the foodmerchant in Verteron but since it will quitedaunting for some players to travel back tothe city, you may buy several peppers andsell them beside Eradis. Just don't be anopportunist and sell the peppers at aridiculously, high price. (I even sawsomebody selling the pepper for 50000kinah) Be reasonable. Selling it for300-500 each will be fair enough as someplayers may chose convenience rather thansavings.

Occasionally, a large, yellow chest called a Suspicious Box will spawn in the southeastern corner of the Frillneck Habitat, near the waterfall. This object can be destroyed, though it will take a while since any attack will just deal 1 point of damage to it, no matter what weapon or skill used. It is known to drop several LV16 "Head Priest's" green weapons and will always drop at least 2 of the possible six greens when defeated. Daggers are advised to be used against it since these weapons have faster attack rates. If you are using a character that

can't use daggers, unequip your weaponsand attack it barehanded instead. A singleplayer may take around 3-4 hours todestroy the box while a group workingtogether will make it a bit faster. Besides, the group that will defeat the box willshare the loot it drops so if possible join agroup so you can evenly share the goodies. Its respawn rate takes a long time sochanging channels will help you inspotting one.
