5.1 Scope

The scope of this section comprises the supply, erection,

testing and commissioning of Air Curtains units conforming

these Specifications and in accordance with the requirements

of the Drawings and of Schedule of Quantities.

5.2 Type

The Air Curtain units are Non Re-Circulating, preferably

installed horizontal to the ground. Installed with anchor

fasteners to the wall or mounted to the ceiling or frame with

proper supports. The discharge nozzle shall be uniform all

through, and the Air curtain shall fully cover the Door

opening.

5.3 Capacity

The Air Curtain should be sized according to the width of the

Door, and Air throw shall be selected as per the height of the

Door, or the capacities shall be as shown on Drawings and

indicated in Schedule of Quantities.

5.4 Cabinets

Cabinets are constructed of 18 SWG CRC iron sheet steel and

powder coated. Corners are rounded without break lines.

The cabinets have good finish and the access panels and the

mountings are so provided for easy removal. All the nuts and

bolts visible are nickel coated.

5.5 Blower housing

The blower housing are constructed of CRC Sheet and are

powder coated, and shall be engineered to provide the

required outlet velocity with minimum noise level.

5.6 Fans

Fans installed in Air Curtain are centrifugal, forward curved

double inlet, lightweight dynamically balanced made in

Aluminum. Impellors shall have Die Cast Aluminum double-

ended Hubs. Ring and Back Plate are made of 16 SWG

Aluminum Sheet and Blades are made in TABLOCK Design,

with 22 SWG Aluminum Sheet. Performance of Impellor is

tested as per AMCA Standards and Guaranteed.

5.7 Motor

Motor are 220 ? 10% volts, 50 cycles single phase, four pole

START & RUN type capacitors. Motors have been provided

with Thermal overload protectors. The Core is made in

.CRNO. (Cold Rolled Non Oriented) Silicon Sheet. Motors

have extended shaft on both the sides, with 15mm as the

shaft Diameter.

5.8 Motor Mounting

Motor Mounting have been so provided that it should have

24 Nos. of vibration isolators between each motor and the

chassis, so placed that it can dampen vibration in all the axis

i.e. X, Y and Z. Vibration isolator are made in silicon rubber,

to resist Temperature rise.

5.9 Painting

Powder Coating is done on the unit. The colour of the powder

used is Ivory from Asian Paints Grade HYG320, else any

other, if specified. Proper treatment shall be done on each

panel before powder coating.

6.0 Noise Level

Frequently Asked Questions Weiber Air Curtains

Should the "Weiber" air curtain be mounted inside or

outside the Room?

• A "Weiber" air curtain will operate with equal efficiency

on either side of there are general rules to remember as

follows: Whenever installing an air curtain the door should

open the opposite without rupturing the curtain. Exceptional

situation can be only when open for a very long time.

• When used over freezer doors or cold room, outside

How far above the doorway should the "Weiber" air

curtain be mounted?

formations.

What happens, if "Weiber" air curtain used is much

smaller than the width of the door?

It is wrong to install an air curtain smaller than the width of

the door unprotected area on the sides. In an ideal situation

the air curtain should completely with one inch overlapping

on either sides of the door frame protection. Competitive

manufacturer sometimes supply incorrect units us. Their

units contain extreme side deflectors to spread the air on

each curtains the air pattern will go across the width but is

irregular as one air looses much of its velocity by the time it

reaches the ground.

How far beyond the edge of the curtain chassis does

the air spread is the depth?

Since the air leaves discharge nozzle at a very high velocity,

the curtain two inches on each side. The depth of the curtain

air is about one foot away from the discharge nozzle.

When would a vertical mount be feasible?

When installation is not possible over the top of the doorway,

the "Weiber" mounted along the door opening and the air

flow run horizontally. Due unit operates efficiently in vertical

position.

How long does it take to install an "Weiber" air

curtains?

The average time required to install the unit is around two

hours. After installation the time can usually be cut to 1 1\2

hours.

When an "Weiber" air curtain is mounted over a cooler

doorway, can removed and the air curtain allowed to

operate continuously?

YES. The "Weiber" air curtain is equipped with continuous

duty motors and many years, trouble free.

What happens to the air when it hits the ground?

When the air reaches the floor level it will divide, sending the

air partially simultaneously and causing a drift both ways at

the floor line. When using the "Weiber" air curtain for insects

and dust control, the directional outlet nozzle should be

directed outward not only to repel the insects allow the least

amount of air to come inward when hitting the floor. If

mounted on the outside of the doorway and used for the

purpose of refrigerated rooms when the door is open, the

directional vanes should outward. Mounted on the inside of

the freezer or cooler the vanes should the refrigerated

rooms.

If the velocity of an air curtain is too great how can it be

slowed

Velocity can be slowed down by using pre-filters at the intake

to restrict suction grill. This restriction should not be used

while using the air curtain and dust.

What happens when man or material goes through an

entrance curtain mounted over it? Is the air curtain still

effective?

When used over warehouse or entrances for the purpose of

keeping insects curtains efficiency will not be affected by the

passage for man or material.

What is a micro switch and when is it used

A micro switch is used to start the air curtain when the door is

open and is closed, to avoid continuous operation of the

curtain. There are various switches used - such as plunger

type, roller type etc. However, it is always the micro switch

opening and closing of the doors, since any and every air

curtain takes RPM to full load RPM, by which time a human

Can a micro switch be used on all types of doors?

NO. They will not work on swinging doors that open both

ways. They doors that open one way, sliding doors and roll-

up doors/shutters.

If air leaving the nozzle does not seem to have much

velocity reason?

a. The cause is probably incorrect rotation of the tangential

flow fan. three phase motors. If this is the problem, two wires

to the motor within the motor, need to be reversed for correct

rotation.

b. The tangential flow fans / pre-filters are choked, hence the

air displacement place sufficiently. If this is the case, blow off

the dust or other material a high velocity industrial blower.

Can filters be used in front of a suction side?

YES. Filters can be used in conjunction with suction grill or
