10 LIFE SAVING WARNINGS1. Thinking the Air Gun is unloaded does not mean it is unloaded. If a BB is

in the magazine and the Air Gun has a pressurized CO2 cartridge, this AirGun can be fired. Always treat your Air Gun as if it is loaded.

2. Always point the muzzle of any Air Gun in a safe direction whether the AirGun is loaded or unloaded...

3. No hands over the muzzle / no way / no time / no how.

4. Only use .177/ 4.5mm BBs manufactured to industry standards. If theBBs do not feed into the magazine, don’t force them - there is a reason -determine the reason before continuing.

5. Never alter your Air Gun or allow anyone not connected with or authorizedto represent the manufacturer to modify, change, or adjust any of theworking parts of your Air Gun.

6. Learn to regularly clean and inspect your Air Gun.

7. Wear eye protection whenever you shoot your Air Gun or when aroundothers using Air Guns. You only get one set of eyes .

8. This Air Gun is extremely powerful and is not designed for the beginner. This class of Air Gun is intended for use by experienced adult shooters.

9. Your Air Gun can not think. You must be alert and thoughtful at all times toinsure your safety and the safety of the people and property near you... nodrugs...no drinking... no horse play... never shoot a BB at water or a hardsurface...

HEALTH WARNING:This Air Gun fires BBs. Lead and lead compounds are known to the State ofCalifornia to cause cancer, birth defects and reproductive toxicity. Discharging, handling or cleaning an Air Gun may result in lead exposure. Have adequateventilation at all times. Do not put BBs in your mouth. Wash hands thoroughlyafter exposure.

GENERAL INFORMATION:This is a Air Gun. It is powered by compressed CO2 in the cylinder located inthe grip. Avoid leaving the Air Gun with compressed CO2 for extended periods.

EXTERNAL CONTROL PARTS:1. The Trigger is used for discharging the

compressed CO2 so as to expel the BB. Thetrigger in this Air Gun is really a contact switchfor an electrical assembly. See Fig 1

2. The Barrel of your Air Gun is made of steel andhas groove rifling. Never put the barrel in aposition where it could be bent or damaged. Abent barrel will lead to accuracy problems orcould even lead to a BB being stuck in the barrel. After shooting, always clean the barrel. See Fig 2

3. The Sights on your Air Gun are designed foraccuracy. The rear sight has a screw in the topthat controls elevation, you may remove the sightand install a scope ring that is made to clamp apicatinny rail. See Fig 3, 4

4. The Magazine is located inside the grip and isremoved by depressing the magazine release….Make sure you unplug the power supply for themagazine before you remove the magazine. Themagazine capacity is 200 rds and you have theoption of using 3 small CO2 cylinders or one largecylinder with adapter. See Fig 5 and 5a

5. The CO2 Cylinders are located in the rear of themagazine and are used to pressurize the Air Gun.Either 3 cylinders or 1cylinder with adapter. SeeFig 6 and 6a

6. The On / Off Switch is located on the left handside of the frame and moves up and down. Inthe down position the firing system has beenenergized and the LED is illuminated. Do notleave the on / off switch in the on position unlessyou are ready to fir the Air Gun or are firing theAir Gun. When the switch is off the power isremoved from the firing system and the LED isno longer illuminated. Since the Drozd 2 has anelectrical firing system the on / off switch acts asa safety. Switch on or firing system energizedthe Air Gun is in the fire mode. Switch off or firingsystem not energized Air Gun is in the safemode....It is good Air Gun safety procedure tonever relay on any mechanical or electrical safety, 6A.

so we recommend to remove the magazine whenyou are not using or ready to fire the Air Gun.See Fig 7, 8

7. The BB storage located on the top forwardportion of the magazine and is opened bydepressing release button for lid. See Fig 9, 9A

8. The Magazine Release located on the bottomback of the grip and pushed in will release themagazine. Warning: the Drozd 2 magazine isheavy so have your hand on it while pushing themagazine release. We recommend that you gripthe lower portion of the magazine and depressthe magazine release with your thumb. See Fig10... Do not drop magazine or it will be damaged

9. The Selector for Fire Switch is located forwardof the On / Off switch on the left hand side of theDrozd 2. The is switch moves fore and aft andhas three positions. Aligning the switch toposition marked one is for single round fire, aligning the switch to the position marked threeis for three round burst and aligning the switchto the position marked six is for six round burst.Depending on what position you set your selectorfor fire to, will determine how many BBs will berelease when the trigger is pulled and held for afull cycle and the on / off is in the on position. Thus, if you pull the trigger and the selector forfire is set at six the Drozd 2 Air Gun will fire sixBBs. If you do not hold the trigger down for theall six BBs to be fired the firing will stop when thetrigger is release. Once the trigger is releasedthe selection of fire will reset back to what evernumber the selector for fire switch is set to. Thus,If the selector for fire switch is set at six and youheld the trigger long enough for four BBs to befired and then you released the trigger and thenpulled the trigger again, up to six BBs would befired depending on how long you held the triggerto the rearward position. See Fig 11, 12

10. The Cycle Speed Switch is located on the righthand side of the Drozd 2 and determines howfast the Air Gun will cycle. If the switch is set at300 the Air Gun will cycle at 300 BBs per minute,

Page 6: AIR GUN INSTRUCTION MANUAL - competition guns · PDF fileAIR GUN INSTRUCTION MANUAL ... Always point the muzzle of any Air Gun in a safe direction whether the Air ... trigger in this

6

450 would be 450 BBs per minute and 600 wouldbe 600BBs per minute. See Fig 13, 14

11. Your Drozd 2 has a BATTERY LOADING AREA/ COVER. It has a orange cover that slides down(away from the barrel) and then pivots up (awayfrom the front of the Air Gun). The Air Gunrequires six AAA batteries, three facing into theAir Gun (Positive side in) and two facing out ofthe Air Gun(Positive side out). The batteries thatface out of the Drozd 2 are on the side which hasthe On / Off switch. Thus, the batteries that faceinto the Drozd 2 are on the cycle seed side. SeeFig 15, 16

13. MAGAZINE POWER PLUG for magazineloading mechanism. See Fig 36

14. JAM CLEARING MECHANISM. See Fig 37,used to clear jams caused by BB misfeeding...

CHARGING/ PRESSURIZING YOUR AIR GUN :A. Make sure that the Air Gun is pointed in a safe

direction and the on / off switch is off and yourfingers are away from the trigger. Remove themagazine by depressing magazine release, firstdisconnecting the magazine power plug and thenremoving the magazine in a downward direction.See Fig 18, 18a

B. Warning: Before you perform this step makesure that if there is or are CO2 cylinders in themagazine that all the pressure has beenreleased, please wear eye protection duringthis operation. If pressure is not completelyrelease and the pressure remaining in the

cylinder or cylinders is not strong enough forthe BBs to be accurate, then you must fire thepistol until there is no more pressure in thecylinder....We suggest you fire the air gunwithout BBs until all pressure is dispensedfrom the CO2 cylinder .

At the back of the magazine you will find the CO2cylinder or cylinders. Make sure that before youunscrew the cylinder or cylinder retention nut thepressure has been released......Warning if all thepressure has not been release from the CO2cylinder or cylinders then gas pressure will bereleased at the top of the cylinder and couldfreeze objects in the way of the gas during it’srelease or expel objects in it’s path or the rubberseal in the magazine may be damaged... SeeFig 19, 20, 21

C. Once you are sure there is no pressure in thecylinder or cylinders, unscrew the cylinder orcylinder retention nut and remove emptycylinders. Inspect the o-ring that is in the gaschamber which is at the top of the magazine orat the top of the cylinders, make sure all o-ringsare not deformed (if it is replace it). See Fig 22,22a, 23, 23a

D. In the case of the 3 small cylinders take newcylinders and inset the necks into the gaschamber and align the round base with thecylinder holding base, the cylinders must be putin from top and must be pushed in so they hitthe center stops. While holding cylinders in thecylinder holding assembly screw down cylinderretention nut... In the case of the single largecylinder make sure the cylinder is properlythreaded in to the adapter... Now move themagazine away from your body and face, thenthread the cylinder or cylinder retention nut in ordown to break CO2 cylinder seal.. You shouldhear the sound of the CO2 gas moving into thegas chamber....make certain there are no leaksbetween the cylinder mouth and the o ring seal.Warning... Be careful during this step becausepressure will leak out when the metal tube breaksthe seal on the cylinder surface. We suggest you

wear eye protection during this operation . SeeFig 24, 24a, 25, 25a

E. Reinsert the magazine into the Air Gun when youare ready to fire. See Fig 26, 26a

WARNING - IF THERE IS NOT ENOUGH PRESSURETO EXPEL THE BBs THEN YOU MUST REPLACETHE CO2 CYLINER BEFORE TRYING TO FIRE THEGUN WITH BBs.....YOU DO NOT WANT TO HAVEBBs STUCK IN THE BARREL DUE TO LACK OFPRESSURE TO EXPEL THEM....

LOADING YOUR AIR GUN :A) Make sure that the Air Gun is pointed in a safe

direction and the on / off switch is off and yourhand and fingers are away from the trigger.

B) Make sure there are four batteries in the Air Gunand that they are charged.

C) Remove the magazine if it is not already removed

D) Move the BB loading release button inward andthen open the cover by pulling upward. Poor inup to 200 BBs in the magazine via loading holeand then firmly close cover until it makes a clicksound. See Fig 27..... Note: Poor quality BBs willcause feeding problems

E) Reinsert the magazine and power plug only whenyou are ready to fire. Make sure you have insertedthe magazine into the Air Gun until the magazinerelease locks the magazine in place. See Fig 28.

FIRING THE AIR GUN :After completing the above loading and chargingsteps make sure that the Air Gun is pointed at whatyou intend to shoot then turn A) set the Select forFire Switch to the number of rounds you wishdispersed per trigger pull B) Set the Cycle SpeedSwitch to the number of rounds you wish to fire per minute C) turn the On / Offswitch to on and slowly pull the trigger to the rear. The Air Gun will dischargethe desired number of BBs from the barrel as long as there is enough pressurein the CO2 cylinder. If you wish to fire another round of BBs pull the triggeragain until all the BBs have been used up in the magazine.

Never leave a Air Gun unattended or where it could fall and fire.

If an Air Gun is hit sharply or dropped, damage to the internal precisionmechanism may result and consequently an accidental firing.

Store Air Guns and BBs separately beyond the reach of children. Makesure the Air Gun and BBs are properly locked and secured so children andun- trained individuals will be denied access.

Test your Air Gun ‘s operation ONLY at a shooting location while the Air Gunbarrel is pointed in a safe direction.

Know your target and what is beyond. Ask yourself what your BB will hit if itmisses the target or passes through the intended target. Remember, a firedBB can travel over 400 yards (including a ricochet).

Never pull an Air Gun toward you by the muzzle. Don’t climb a tree, cross aditch or fence with a loaded Air Gun .

Do NOT leave your Air Gun PRESSURIZED for long periods of time or storepressurized.

Always empty Air Guns before entering a house, car, truck, boat, RV, camp orany building.

When receiving a Air Gun, always open the action and make sure it is unloaded.NEVER accept anyone’s word that an Air Gun is “unloaded” or “empty”. Youshould also inspect it by passing a cleaning rod through the bore to makesure it is clear.

Avoid exposure to lead by firing where there is adequate ventilation. Aftercleaning your Air Gun and/or handling BBs, wash your hands.

Keep Air Guns unloaded when not actually in use. Load the Air Gun onlywhen preparing to fire.

Never fire a BB to clear a barrel.

ALWAYS WEAR protective shooting glasses when firing Air Guns.

Never drop your Air Gun. If you do drop it, unload it and check it for properfunction before using it again.

Don’t alter or modify your Air Gun.

Do not remove any internal safety or safety device on the Air Gun. Safetymechanisms are designed to protect you from injury or death.

Do maintain and keep your Air Gun clean. Keep in a dry place away fromother metals and water. If your Air Gun shows sign of corrosion or improperoperation, have it serviced by a competent gunsmith.

Keep the muzzle pointed in a safe direction when loading and unloading yourAir Gun. Never point the muzzle at any person or any animal.

Never shoot at hard flat surfaces or water....bullets ricochet.

Page 11: AIR GUN INSTRUCTION MANUAL - competition guns · PDF fileAIR GUN INSTRUCTION MANUAL ... Always point the muzzle of any Air Gun in a safe direction whether the Air ... trigger in this

Never let water, snow, mud or other material enter the barrel. Keep the barrelfree of any obstruction.

Use only the correct size BBs for your Air Gun. Do NOT use steel shot or darts.

Teach children NOT to touch an Air Gun or BBs.

Remember an Air Gun has the capability of taking your life or the life ofsomeone else. Be careful with your Air Gun — an accident is almost alwaysthe result of not following basic safety rules.

WRITE US concerning any items or circumstances which you don’t understandand which might relate to your safety and the operation of your Air Gun .

CARE AND CLEANING:Caution: Make sure the Air Gun is unloaded before cleaning (follow unloadinginstructions to insure Air Gun is not loaded)

Caution: In lubricating the Air Gun mechanism, use only a special lubricantwith a high flash point designed specifically for use inside of an air compressionchamber.

(A) Put a few drops of special light oil on the slide and safety. Do not over oil(no more than 3 or 4 drops on each lubrication). The Air Gun chamber shouldbe oiled every 500 Pellets or BBs.

Caution: It is better to under lubricate than to over lubricate. Over lubricationwill void your warranty. Do not use firearm cleaners or low flash point oils inthe air compression chamber and near the vent and breech seal as this willcause dieseling and damage the seal.

Caution: Only a competent gun smith should dissemble the Air Gun for furthercleaning or maintenance.
