Dust extraction system in-stalled at confectionery pro-duction and packaging line.
During the production and packaging of sugared
confectionery, the release of dust is unavoidable. Dust
particles pollute the air and precipitate on the machines,
the product and the employees. If the dust is not captured,
this can lead to unhygienic situations. In addition, high
levels of dust concentration increase the risk of a
dust explosion.
Kiekens was asked to supply the dust extraction system for a
new production hall for a confectionery manufacturer.
Increased effectivenessKiekens engineered, manufactured and installed the entire extraction system for the new hall, including its operation system. By applying precise engineering, ensuring the adequate encapsulation of dust sources and providing a sophisticated extraction system, we were able to optimise the effect of dust extraction while using less capacity and increasing production levels.
InstallationIn order to capture the released dust particles, we encapsulated various machines and placed extractors where required. The dust is extracted by way of a Kiekens Dustmaster DM20.000
plate filter and subsequently discharged via a piping system. In order to prevent unwanted air flow, the filtered air was fed back into the space by means of an air distribution hose. This also protects the climate control system against overload. As a measure of protection against dust explosions, an ATEX-certified filter with explosion relief system was installed, and the air intake system was fitted with a check valve. This prevents any possible explosion and flame front generated by it from reaching the extraction points.The entire system was delivered by Kiekens on a turn-key basis, in client-specific colours. The extraction system is now fully operational and the customer extremely satisfied.
