Air Zimbabwe expected to resume operations in October 2012 Finally, some pleasant news for the large UK Clientele hailing from Zimbabwe! Air Zimbabwe is expected to resume flights. The carrier has obtained two new Airbuses despite its bleak financial condition. Air Zimbabwe’s official press release through the state ZBC News reported that the regional operations shall resume first and subsequently the carrier shall have to exhibit compliance with all international standards laid down by the authorities by November 30, 2012. Air Zimbabwe has been inoperative for a very long time now and was suspended by IATA (International Air Transport Association) last month. It has been announced as an airline needing approval for safety standards by 30 th November, failing which could result in indefinite or permanent ban. Mr. Innocent Mavhunga, the CEO, was quoted as saying that Trinidad and Tobago engineers are helping Air Zimbabwe setup stage for successfully meeting the safety requirements. Victor Hunt, the Manager Operations at TravelHouseuk has advised clients, “As much as Travelhouseuk is pleased for the Zimbabwean community, it is imperative to clarify that the airline will still be susceptible to financial constraints before it has successfully operated the flights continuously for a period of at least 6 months. Passengers must still be cautious that their flights with Air Zimbabwe are not secured by Airline failure insurance”. He further added, “It is a welcome sign that there is finally some hope for recovery of money as the chances of refunds for the cancelled flights are moderately good provided the airline succeeds in maintaining its operational standards.” TravelHosueuk reportedly has prepared a consolidated list already for all affected passengers who reported their flights as suspended or cancelled and were unable to use their tickets. TravelHosueuk has strongly advised that if clients have not contacted their agents yet, they must ensure it is communicated and reported to the agent for their refund claims.

Passengers must still be cautious that their flights with Air Zimbabwe are not secured by Airline failure insurance. He further added, It is a welcome sign that there is finally some hope for recovery of money as the chances of refunds for the cancelled flights are moderately good provided the airline succeeds in maintaining its operational standards. TravelHosueuk reportedly has prepared a consolidated list already for all affected passengers who reported their flights as suspended or cancelled and were unable to use their tickets. TravelHosueuk has strongly advised that if clients have not contacted their agents yet, they must ensure it is communicated and reported to the agent for their refund claims. This is important for all such clients who are waiting for their refunds from the previously suspended flights. However, it will be a time consuming and slow process as the airline must first resume and successfully complete its flight operations to earn some revenue before it can start paying back for the refunds. This is still un-official. It is yet to be determined whether the airline will be able to honor the claims for the affected passengers or not.
