Write down your card's ESN (the ll-digit number on the back of your card) Install the Sprint PCS Connection Manager" software on the Windows PC (if you're using Windows 2000 you must log in with administra- tive privileges) Insert the CD into the Windows PC Go to My Computer and select your CD Drive (0:) (where D is your CD-ROMdrive letter) Follow the instrunctions displayed on the screen.When prompted, insert the card Warning! Note: before you use the card in your PowerBook G4computer, you must do the following on a Windows­based PC (described below):

• Ifyou've received the card from Sprint activatedand locked: unlock the card

• Ifyour card has not been activated: activate it

To useyour Sprint PCS Connection Card, you'll need:

• A PowerBook G4 computer with a PC Card(PCMCIA card) slot, running Mac OS X version10.4.7 or higher. To check your version, from theApple menu ( ' ) choose About This Mac. Ifyourversion is earlier, then visit:www.apple.com/support/downloadsfor upgrading instructions, or, in Finder", chooseGO > Applications> System Preferences

Setting up the Windows PC

You will need a Windows-based PC with a PC Cardslot, running Windows 2000 (with Service Pack1 orlater) or Windows XP.

• Write down your card's ESN (the ll-digit numberon the back ofyour card)

• Install the Sprint PCS Connection Manager"software on the Windows PC (if you're usingWindows 2000 you must log in with administra­tive privileges)

• Insert the CD into the Windows PC

• Go to My Computer and select your CDDrive(0:) (where D is your CD-ROMdrive letter)

• Follow the instrunctions displayed on thescreen. When prompted, insert the card

If your card is already activated and locked:

After Windows installs the drivers for the card, SprintConnection Manager should start automatically, anddisplay "Card Locked." Unlock the card:

• If Sprint Connection Manager is not expanded,click + to expand it

• Click the ~ icon

• In the Enter User LockCode window, enter the lockcode, and click OK.The icon should now be~.

You can now use the card on your PowerBookcomputer

Ifyour card is not activated:

You will additionally need a telephone. AfterWindows installs the drivers for the card, the Activa­tion Wizard should start automatically.

• Ensureyou have the items listed on the screen andcall the phone number listed

• Follow the instructions of the Sprint CustomerService specialist to activate your card. Write downthis information:

To end your network connedion:

• From the menu, choose Disconnect

Toconnect to the Sprint Nationwide PCS Network:

• From the menu, choose Connect. Once you'reconnected to the network, the menu bar showsadditional icons, and the amount oftime you'vebeen connected. The up/down arrows indicatedata being transferred to/from the network

After Sprint sets up your account on the network, yourcard is activated and ready for use on your G4computer. See "Installing your Sprint PCS ConnectionCard" on your G4" below.

Installing your Sprint PCS Connedion Cardon your G4:

After you have completed the activation process:

• Holding the card by its sides, insert the card intoyour PowerBook

• Wait for the New Port Detected window to appear.Click Continue

• Ifyou are prompted for an account name andpassword that you received from the SprintCustomer Service specialist, enter your usernameand password, then click OK.The 3G icon appearsin the menu bar: 1F. When you click the icon, amenu appears:

From this menu, you can:

• Determine the network coverage (ix and/orlxEVDO) and roaming status ( indicatesroaming)

• Turn the card off (for example, when you're inan aircraft)

• Conned to the Sprint Nationwide PCS Network

• View information about your Sprint PCS Connec­tion Card

• View, configure, and use data and VPN connec­tions available on your computer (for example,WWAN, WiFi, Bluetooth, VPN)

To remove the Sprint PCS Connection Card fromyour Mac:

• Endyour network connection, as described above

• Selectthe Turn Sprint CardOffoption from the menu

• Using your Computer's PC Card (PCMCIA card)ejector, eject the Sprint PCS Connection Card fromthe PC Card slot

Warning! When inserting or removing your card,always grip it by its sides. Gripping the card by itsantenna may damage the card.

Care and maintenance

As with any electronic device, the Sprint PCS Connec­tion Card must be handled with care to ensurereliable operation. Follow these guidelines in usingand storing the card:

• Do not apply adhesive labels to the card

• For cards that have an antenna, optimal signalstrength is usually obtained when the antenna isperpendicular to the card. The antenna should turneasily at the hinge. Do not forcefully turn the antenna

• The card should fit easily into the PC Card slot.Forcing the card into the slot may damage connec­tor pins

• Proctect the card from liquids, dust, and excessiveheat

• When the card is not connected to your computer,store the card in a safe place
