We tackle the most pressing and relevant issues for Airfields Leaders and Champions today. These highly interactive exercises, deep-dive into case studies and engaging discussions. To promote maximum interaction and value for your investment, the workshops are kept at a small number. You can look forward to lively discussions, networking with your peers and gathering and sharing of ideas and information. Do not miss out on this opportunity, register for the workshops and site tour today! Course material and refreshments will be provided during the sessions.

0900hrs – 1130hrs: Workshop A Developing Ideal Pavement Management Systems at the Strategic, Tactical and Operational Levels Due to the expected increase in air traffic movements around the world, the need to maintain airfield infrastructures using a sustainable approach has become very important. The three asset management levels of strategic, tactical and operational are designed to address business issues such as strategy and financial risks an technical issues such as maintenance, reliability and life cycle costs. Key Learnings:

• Network definition in terms of hierarchy, geometry, construction, age, maintenance history and traffic

• Pavement Condition Index (PCI) calculated based on various survey results • Maintenance strategy based on expected performance and intervention levels • Scheme prioritisation and treatment optimisation, based on available funds, value for money, user’s

impact, social impact, safety, policies, regulations and environmental requirements The above approach can be implemented using computer tools to predict the maintenance treatment, however understanding the client needs in terms of priorities and risks are also important. This workshop will detail the principles of pavement asset management and highlights the benefits of using such system on

whole life cost optimisation of the pavements. Dr. Bachar Hakim, Head of Pavement Design and Asset Management, Civil and Infrastructure, AECOM, UK

1230hrs – 1500hrs: Workshop B

Improving the Efficiency of Airfield Asset Management Planning Deriving more out of airfield assets as with all asset management strategies, comes from the top and from sound lifecycle analysis. A complex matrix evolves when we consider the components of successful airfield asset management: the nature of engineering design, actual construction processes employed and the lifecycle costing of various assets. This workshop details how this complex matrix can be broken down to simpler components, assign due weightage and assemble back into your asset planning strategy. Key Learnings:

• How to plan ideal asset management strategies without increasing investment and operational expenditure?

• What are the new tools available for an asset manager to earmark assets for prioritized maintenance?

• Improving stakeholder coordination: the challenges and opportunities • Integrating asset management planning right from the design phase: enhancing compliance

N. Venkatachalapathy, Head-Safety & Environment Compliance, International Airport

1530hrs – 1800hrs: Workshop C

Identifying and selecting the appropriate materials for your airfield pavement construction Airports globally are facing the challenge of identifying and selecting the right materials for pavement construction. While sustainable and green materials are being sought after by all airfield managers, just how commercially viable is this option? What are the most effective concrete and asphalt mixes, for different climatic and topographic conditions. Key Learnings: Attending this workshop will enable you to effectively:

• Implement QA systems on pavement raw material and pavement mixture workmanship quality • Compare the usability and durability of different pavement materials • Compare short term and long term cost savings achieved using different materials • Eventually choose a material that suits your airport conditions
