AirShip Technologies Group, Inc. (www.AirShipTG.org), an American Pacific Northwest firm, is currently planning to serve agricultural customers with its unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) AirShipTG has been working since 2012 to develop a type of UAV that can dramatically save a farmer's time and resources during the growing season. This Agribusiness use case is served by our AirScape services, including video and visual imaging, plus multi-spectral imaging and crop spraying. Our long flight endurance AirShip Endurance UAVs serves agribusiness farms of all sizes.

This UAV agribusiness use case was developed after interviews and meetings with agronomists and farmers regarding their requirements for the use of UAVs and includes, but is not limited to the following:

Imaging Optical still and video imaging of farming fields or entire farms, showing

views from various altitudes at rates far less than manned aircraft or satellites, and immediately making data analysis available in real time with available communications access.

Multispectral imaging taken at a constant airspeed and altitude above crops, taken more frequently and at less cost than manned aircraft or satellites, providing immediate and historical feedback on the following: Soil moisture. Save water costs by allowing precision watering to be

performed via specific GPS coordinates-enable autonomous navigation.

Plant stress. Determine up to 4 days before plant tissue samples show problems from disease, pests and/or nutrients (too much or too little).

Crop Ripeness. Using imaging, allow high-value crops to be harvested at precisely the right time.

Crop Spraying Precision Crop Spraying. Allow for tests showing a very uniform spray

pattern on entire plants. Environment. Provide for zero impact on crops by eliminating wheeled

terrestrial vehicles or foot traffic.Other Uses

Wildlife Dispersion. Reduce the impact from migratory birds by programming and visually detecting movement and enabling the UAV to behave like a raptor to scare flocks from landing around crops.

Inspections. Enable farmers to inspect crops much faster. As the crop gets up and going, the UAVs can fly over crops and see if it can detect those areas of drought sooner than one could visually see it from the ground.

Fertilizing Applications. Detect areas where not enough nitrogen fertilizer was applied is equalize the effective.

Herbicide Applications. Scan farms for herbicide studies to see if UAV photography can help identify where crops are stressed by doing UAV post-emergence herbicide applications.

Bird’s-Eye View of Crops. With UAV aerial photography, offer a quick and easy way to check on the progress of crops and determine where farmers may need to replant or direct pesticide applications.

AirShipTG’s core competencies are a) vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL); UAV airframe and fuselage ducted fan design and development, b) Solar turbine clean tech integrated air accelerator propulsion, and c) persistent high endurance autonomous flight control. The UAVs are targeted for commercial/civil/and military use cases as they seek alternatives to using helicopters, fixed wing aircraft, or terrestrial vehicles. Now that there are numerous vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) aircraft in operation around the world, this market is in demand!

The AirShip V2 and AirShip V5 VTOL UAV with their AirScape service delivery system represents a disruptive entry into what will become a highly sought after commercial use of UAVs that expands far beyond military use. The UAV serves as a service delivery platform for agribusiness applications. The UAV’s “AirScape” service is a low cost, scalable service capable of serving multi-year contracts for multiple applications.

Two things have come together to make the AirShip Endurance UAV invention the next killer app and game changer. First, AirShip Technologies Group has developed a clean tech Solar Turbine to power the AirShip V2 and V5 UAV with an external solar film array and aerial regenerative drive that recharges internal

electric storage. This tandem ducted fan with integrated clean tech air accelerator power provides propulsion for the UAV’s long endurance flight of 30 to 90 days, depending on weather conditions. Secondly, the Defense Appropriation Act of 2012, mandates the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) House Bill to open up the U.S. national airspace (NAS) for lightweight UAVs. We plan to adhere to the FAA requirements of a total weight no more than 25 pounds and a 400 foot altitude ceiling.

The AirShip V2 and V5’s serve as an aerial service delivery platforms for:

a) AirScape Services – A 24x7 geographic video on-demand surveillance service that is low cost, is scalable, and delivers persistent flight endurance. AirScape can serve multiple clients simultaneously.

b) Solar Array Film – A breakthrough patented solar array film that delivers up to 28% first-generation solar cell efficiency to power the AirShip V2’s propulsion for long-flight endurance.

Together, the AirShip V2 and V5 VTOL UAVs and AirScape service represents a quantum leap over competitor solutions for geographic imaging services. As a UAV service delivery platform, the V2 and V5’s serve to host several applications that will be phased in over time. As a commercial aerial imaging and surveillance service for agribusiness, first responders, corporations with assets on the ground, and information service providers, this aerial platform represents a powerfully broad opportunity. There’s a familiar pattern in Reinvention: Rethinking answers to problems lead to a new technology coming along to fill a long-standing need. But as it becomes widely implemented, questions arise over how best to use it and how it may affect the rest of the World!
