The Dinosaur museum was awesome. We had so
much fun! We could dig for fossils and make imprint fossils. We also saw a real
meteorite (a small one). It was amazing to see the huge Iguanodon Skeletons in the glass cages.During Dino Activity Day we had to get the chocolate chips out of the cookies like a real paleontologist and we could eat them.

The bridge project was a lot of fun, because we were working with our friends and the teachers were helping us.
The sleepover was amazing, because we watched a very good movie before going to bed. And Mrs Kovach read us a bedtime story: Worst Babies Belly Button.
We built bridges with popsicle sticks and glue. The glue sticking to your hands was not so nice.
Everytime we see a bridge now, we realise it is more than just a plank with a support and we think about the type of bridge it is? Is it an arch bridge, a pigtail or a suspended bridge?

Shail&Bhavik&Aadesh: WASSSUP CHODU’s!!! Y’all three are my main Indians. You have taught me the ways of your people. Russell Peters, Kevin Hart, basketball, eating, all nighters watching NBA at Big B’s house, movies etc… it has all been absolutely fantabulous and the tepla…THE TEPLA (btw recipe please). Some of the jokes that have been told over the years have sparked some controversy for being borderline racist but s’all good. The intense arguing between the three of you has been the source of my splendid Indian accent and I thank you for that. I will cherish all of the other memories that we have had and I really hope that we keep in touch, because my Indian accent isn’t going to maintain itself.
Karolis: Honey…It’s been a great couple of years with all the parties and the basketball. We have grown as friends at an exponential rate. Your sometimes strange humor and funny accent both contribute to the funny guy you are. You better keep in touch when you go to university babe!

I think the only thing I can say about my family is that it is impossible to overestimate the amount of support and love I receive from them on a daily basis. I am so lucky to have Parents who care so much about me and about my ambitions. Kirsten you’re by far my favourite sister, no question. Not to mention you have a very nearly �awless musical taste and you watch all the right shows. Daniel, you are one of the coolest people I know. I’ve been in�uenced so heavily by your musical and cultural preferences, so I owe you more than I can express.
I’ll just start o� by saying that I am forever going to be grateful to the class of 2014 for being the most kind, amazing, friendly, lovely group of people I have had the fortune to meet. I’ve been a student at 6 schools over my life, and there’s no class I’d rather be �nishing this journey with than you guys. Not to mention the teachers, sta� members, as well as students above and below my year level who have all made my time at AIS so unforgettable.
William: You’ve been as good of a friend over the past 3 years as anyone could ask for. You have a gift for creativity in both art and music, and I hope you always are able to do what you deserve. Honestly, your friendship has meant so much to me, and I know it will last for a long time from now.

I just would like to thank all of my teachers. However, a massive thanks goes to Mrs. McKemy, my 3rd Grade teacher who is probably never going to read this, Mr. Neighbour, who has truly inspired me in history, and Mrs. Helness, who has always helped me and pushed me to my greatest potential. When I �rst heard that I was going to have to move in the middle of my IB, I was very reluctant to do so especially as this meant that I would have to live in another country than my parents and sister for a couple of months. But I am so happy that I came here! From the �rst day when I was shown around the school, it immediately felt like home and I could not have wished for a warmer welcome from all the people in my grade! I’ve only been at AIS for a short time, but it feels like I’ve been here longer and I know I will miss it dearly next year!
My mum and dad have always been there for me, no matter how far away they were. I have stressed them out a little bit by being so relaxed about deadlines and mock exams but they believed in me and knew that I would do well in the end. I want to thank you, mum and dad, for always being supportive, for motivating me whenever I was demotivated and for teaching me to always make the best out of everything. I love you and I could not have done this without you!

I never really know what to say for these things so I’m just going to describe the moments throughout the year that are marked in my mind and that are now fond memories.
I remember listening to Geneva’s stories on the bus every morning, when normally I would have done anything to sleep at that moment.
I remember being new to the school with Thomas and the embarrassment I had because I had forgotten his name.
I remember going to the elderly home with Karolis and Cedric and us talking about girls we liked.
I remember trying to break the ice with Leonie G for the �rst time by telling her a bad joke and her walking away silently.
I remember our TOK class commenting on a cheesy comment I made “your mind is like a calculator, it’s only useful if you know how to use it”.
To conclude, these memories may not all sound very pleasant, but they are nice to me, and even though I left a lot of funny ones out, these still give me a pleasant feeling. It’s not about how you feel now, but how you’re going to feel later that counts.

To my family:
Mom and Dad: You have had all the struggles with me that you would expect from a teenager and believe it or not, but we have �nally reached this milestone: I’m done with high school! Both of you have struggled through arguments and �ghts with me, for this I am truly grateful, I do not know many other parents who would go to the same lengths as you did. All the talks whilst walking the dog really did help, dad, although I’m sure you believe that they went in one ear and out the other. I’m sure not everyone would agree with me, but having you work at school, mom, just made everything so much easier, because if anything were wrong at school, you would always jump in straight away. Without both of you at my side I am sure I would have never made it through the IB and I am truly grateful for everything you have done.
Caitlin, my little sis, you have been a total pain, but you were my pain and I would not have wanted it any other way. Although we got in a lot of �ghts these last few years, you did often brighten my spirits when needed and we often laughed together. No matter where we went we would �nd a way to laugh and I love you for it. You still have a lot of school years ahead of you, but if I could do it then I am more than sure that you will be able to conquer the IB.

Geneva, man what is there to say? When I am asked to describe the friendships I have, ours always makes me laugh, I mean, who wouldn’t when on the �rst day at a new school you walk into homeroom and you see this little brunette going: ‘NAAATAAALIEIEIE!’ Honestly, there is no better way of being introduced to everyone in a way such as that one. As we go further down the line of our friendship, we have had awkward moments (which I’m not going to name) and I think it is safe to say that the phone companies should be paying us instead of the other way around, because damn those phone bills in the beginning … Luckily we discovered this magni�cent program called Skype. Having all this said, I want to thank you for helping me around at AIS in the beginning and then sticking around and dealing with my weirdness. Our friendship is one that I cherish the most and honestly I do not know what I’m going to do without you in Uni.
Maureen, when you arrived at school everything just got so much funnier, I am extremely happy that I met someone just as weird and sarcastic as me with whom I can prance (yes I said prance) through the school and nobody really cares. These last two years have been a blast and all the laughs we had together were priceless. Maxim, omg what in the world am I supposed to say to you? I mean as soon as I show up one of us starts ranting about one thing, which leads to another, which eventually leads to us being loud and completely random. But guess what I love it so keep it up!
Phoebe & Esther, I was going to do you two separate, but then I realized that I would be typing exactly the same thing twice. You two are the funniest people and totally kept me going through our rehearsals in JCS, especially during the dance rehearsals. Surprisingly you two also did not question my ‘I lost my friends so I’m hanging out with you guys’ statement at numerous lunches and just went along with it! You two are still in for a hell of a ride, but I’m sure you’ll have fun!

Parents: I have never had as much support from anyone, but no matter how many tears, struggles or smiles I have had, you two always had the right thing to say. As your last child graduating, this must very di�cult. A di�cult journey it will be, new location, new people and hopefully all that investment will be worth it. You always said ‘education is the most important investment you can make’ and I realize now how fortunate I am to have had this opportunity. Because of you I was able to visit more than 10 countries in one year, not many people can say the same.
Siblings: From London, Paris, Washington, San Francisco… wherever you were, you managed to help me survive the I.B. Regardless of you three not being there to graduate with me, you have been the most supportive.
Caroline: Little did we know of each other, but so quickly we clicked. It even came to the point where I took you on vacation. De�nitely unforgettable, so many memories (not all to be shared), but it can still make me laugh, even in the most serious of times. Emily: As of 9th grade, your little dimples and humor made us get along. Parents: What is there to say about you? As time passes by, answering this question becomes trickier than it ever used to. One of the reasons why is probably because my vocabulary does not grow as fast as your signi�cance in my heart. However, you know how my planning goes – leaving everything aside until the last minute – and you know how much harder it becomes for me to achieve my tasks. Well, here I am answering that question, which you long deserved the answer to.Never would I ever dare imagine a life without your presence. You are the reason I have a life. You are the reason I am able to overcome the challenges of life. You are the reason I enjoy my life. You are the reason why I want and will succeed through life. I have been at AIS almost my entire life; �rstly I would like to thank all of my teachers throughout the years, without their help and guidance my school experience here at AIS would not have been as amazing as it was.
Dad and Mom: I can’t believe I’m graduating already. Dad, It seems like yesterday that our under 12-basketball team won NECIS. Having you as a basketball coach has made school that much more fun and also increased my basketball skill exponentially; you taught me the importance of defense and that “it is not the size of the dog in the �ght, but the size of the �ght in the dog”. I will never forget our ski trips to Austria, and I can’t wait until the next time we go. Mom, I know that I am not always the easiest kid, and I want to thank you for your guidance, encouragement and always o�ering your help when I needed it. Without it, I would not be the person I am today. I love you both.
Sander: I know we don’t always get along, but the truth is that you are the best brother in the world. I am really going to miss you and I will be sure to visit as often as I can. Make sure you keep practicing your Halo skills and maybe you will be able to beat me someday. I love you.

Jay: You are truly a unique person. So so many memories throughout the years with you from playing basketball together to skiing together to going on summer camps in the US. Mom & Dad: Without both of you, I don’t know what my life would have been like. You have supported me throughout my life, always being there for me, no matter what. I wouldn’t have made it through the IB without your advices and pushes, especially the ones by you Mom! Dad, I have always looked up to you and always will. Lucky for you, double trouble and worries will be leaving you, but not forgetting everything you have done to get us where we are. Good luck with the next in line, I’m sure Aarnav won’t be as di�cult as we were. Many times this year I rolled my eyes and complained about all the pressure you put on me for university application and grades. In hindsight, now I realize the importance of all that and thank you for your constant nagging. I love you and appreciate everything you have done for me.
Aadesh: You are the brother that I have always wanted, even though you are extremely annoying at all times. A word of advice from your more mature, responsible brother, life happens as you are busy with it…keep busy and leave your laziness in Belgium. Remember when we were little, we had to share everything, luckily next year sharing will not be a problem, however I will miss you.

I loved speeding down hills and feeling the cool breeze blow against my face; mountain biking was one of my favorite memories.
I mostly liked the game place and playground, it was so fun; best exercise was high rope.

It was good weather, so we had a lot of fun kayaking and we got to swim in the sea.
Staying on the boat was really nice. I learnt a lot of new things and the kayaking was a lot of fun.
It was really nice, because it was beautiful to sleep in a place surrounded by nature and be with your friends. I enjoyed all the fun activities.

It was an adventure. It got the class closer together as a group.
It was quite nice to socialize with the new students. It was a great experience, because we got to know the di� erent parts of a sailing boat.

Grade 10 - Belgian Coast
Despite staying in a public bus, it was an enjoyable � eldtrip with many great activities throughout the day, such as rafting, kayaking, sur� ng and many more.
Learning to surf was great, except for the fact that we spent more time falling in the water than on our surf-boards.
It was great with all the � eld activities; the weather was beautiful and the bike ride to Bruges was athletic. Hidden 10th grade talent: making smores!

When I � rst heard we were do-ing Jesus Christ Superstar I was surprised. It seemed impossible to successfully accomplish such a big production in such a short amount of time and with such a small cast, but through hard work, long rehearsal hours, and great dedication from every sin-gle one of the cast members, we managed to put on a great musi-cal, which I was extremely proud to be a part of. - Claudia V.

Honour Choir is a select group of students who come together to form an incredible choir for a long weekend. � ey do a blind audition for a place in the choir. It is certainly an honour to be a participant at these festivals as it only takes the best music students from international schools all around the world. Only 20 from each voice category gain a place, so we are very proud of Esther Van Hoeve and Cameron Buckmaster from AIS! � e conductor for the festival, Dr. Edith Copely, and the Founder of the AMIS Festivals, Mr. Richard Bassett, awarded Cameron with the “Veteran AMIS Award” for being in so many of the festivals. This year AIS made the decision to focus on one all school charity. The Best of Both supports schools in North East Ghana in the areas of water, nutrition and education. The Best of Both is student led by a CAS group comprised of HS students. Funds have been raised through the sales of Best of Both bracelets, bake sales, the Student Council Fashion Show and most recently, the Donate a Desk Campaign. A total of 7,000 euros has been raised and will be used by Pelungu School to repair and lock their well, start a market garden and provide desks and chairs for 250 students and eight teachers. - Mrs. Fewtrell

In connection with our school charity, The Best of Both, the Grade 4 class and their teacher, Mrs. Howcroft, organized a campaign to raise the money to provide 125 double desks for our partner school, Pelungu Primary. At the school the 250 students in Grades 1-3 have no desks and do all their classes sitting on the � oor. Students in ES, MS and HS were asked to donate euros to build model desks. Each euro ‘bought’ one block and 18 blocks built a desk. The campaign ran for one week and raised 2,500 euros – more than enough for 125 desks. During the week, the ES students had an awareness raising day when they too worked on the � oor. Sore bottoms for all! 0:44 / 4:44

23 Cars Washed and 325 euros raised for Schools for Salone The Andersen and VandeBovenkamp families held a car wash to raise money for Schools for Salone. There was a steady stream of cars from 11- 3pm, which made it nice and easy to keep up, as well as stop to chat about Schools for Salone and about how small fundraisers make a big difference. The goal was to raise 300 euros and create awareness for Schools for Salone, which the event did in its own small way. Schools for Salone is a non-profit organization that helps rebuild schools, devastated in the 10 year civil war in Sierra Leone. In just 8 years, they have built 15 schools (most with wells) and 2 libraries. The cost to build a school is only 55,000 USD and once the money is raised for approved schools, it takes just 60 - 90 days to build. The Terry Fox Run for Cancer ResearchOn Sunday, Oct 6, AIS held the Terry Fox Run for Cancer Research. This used to be an annual event and the organizers were glad to do this again. Thanks to all who came out on a cool and drizzly Sunday to support the Terry Fox Run for Cancer Research at Hof de Bist. We raised 850 Euros for a great cause! In total 80 people of all ages with some of their four-legged friends came for some exercise, but a special thanks to the PTO for sending out the flyers, Stephenie Nagle and her cross-country team, the Trauger family for donating bananas, and all the CAS students for set-up, clean-up, and MC’ing. Each year, the entire 11th grade class devotes a great deal of time and eff ort to one of the major events on the AIS calendar, the International Gourmet Dinner (IGD). The dinner brings together the year group in a diff erent context than that in which they typically interact at school. Fur-thermore, the IGD enables the High School Counsellor, Dr. Cameron, to learn more about each student in the fi rst important step toward showing their well roundedness for university study. Three students were selected through a competitive process to lead the year group - Aadit Gandhi, Urmi Mody, Jay Sanghvi - in the various tasks that are required to enable the dinner to succeed, from marketing, personnel and fi nance through to the design of the hall and planning the live entertainment. The highlight of the event is always the international cuisines, generously prepared by 11th grade families. This year’s IGD was one of the most successful in the event’s history, with over €5000 being raised for this year’s chosen charity, Oxfam.- Rick Cameron
