E. ) Tree Plantation at AISAT Kurisuparambil, Associate Manager, AISAT inaugurated the event by planting the first sapling with the motto “Plant and preserve trees”. Nearly 25 saplings were planted by the students and arrangements were made for nurturing them. AISAT Newsletter Inauguration of the First Batch of B. Tech.....Schola Brevis 2012 The inaugural function to welcome the first Batch of B. Tech Students was held on July 16 2012, the chief guest for the function was Dr. D. Babu Paul, a former member of Indian Administrative Service. The function was presided over by His Grace Rev. Dr. Francis Kallarackal, the Metropolitan Archbishop of Verapoly and the Patron of the Institute. In his speech Dr. D. Babu Paul said that to be successful in life, students should give importance to the skills like Time Management, Time Audit and Time Budget, they should always keep a balance between academic activities and extracurricular activities, they should be God-fearing and should cultivate the habit of starting their day by praying to God Almighty. Rev. Dr. Clement Valluvassery, the Manager, Rev. Fr. Alex Kurisuparambil, the Asssociate Manager, Dr. Babu. T. Jose, the Director, Dr. T. K. Mani, the Principal, Prof. Lovely Cherian, the Vice Principal, Prof. M. R. Joseph, H. O. D, Dept of Basic Sciences and Prof. K. P. Mukundankutty, H. O. D., Mechanical also addressed the students and their parents on the occasion. Yoga Classes for Students have commenced in AISAT from July 21, 2012. Dr. Varma of ‘Varma Medical Clinic' delivered the inaugural speech, emphasising the need of Yoga in the present life Ms. Susheela Gopinath, teacher with more than ten years of experience in the field would be instructing the students. E. attended I Praphullakumar Lecture on Case Studies in Geotechnical Construction, organized by Indian Geotechnical Society, Kochi Chapter and Association of Piling Specialist's, Kochi, at Hotel Reni, Kochi on Sept. 22, 2012. Mr. Naibin George, faculty in the Dept. of E. C. attended a short term training on Basic Counseling Technique organised by D. T. E. at Govt. Engg. College, Thrissur from Aug. 20-24, 2012. Mr. Paul Ansel V., faculty in the Dept. of E. C. presented a paper on Performance Analysis of Sigma Delta Modulators at the Second International Conference on Advances in Computing and Communications(ICACC- 2012) at Rajagiri School of Engg. and Tech., Ernakulam, the conference was held from Aug 9- 11, 2012. -Dr.D. thThe 45 Engineers Day was celebrated on September nd14, 2012., the day also commemorates the 152 birth

anniversary of the legendry Engineer- Statesman Bharat Ratna Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya, the celebrations were held in the in Seminar Hall of AISAT. The Chief Guest of this function was Shri. Shibu Baby John, Honourable Minister for Labour and rehabilitation, Govt. of Kerala. The minister also inaugurated the Student chapter of Institution of Engineers at AISAT.

The program started at 9.15 AM with prayer by AISAT Choir. Welcome speech was delivered by Prof. Dr. Babu T. Jose, the Director, AISAT.

The meeting was presided over by Rt. Rev. Msgr. Dr. Alex Vadakkumathala, the Vicar General of Archdiocese of Varapoly, in speech he stressed the inspiring qualities of Sir. M. Visvesvaraya

Rev. Fr. Alex Kurisuparambil, Associate Manager,AISAT, honoured the minister by draping a “Poonada”. The invited guests were Prof. Kurien Mathew, Rtd. Chief Engineer, PWD, Kerala and Er. P.G.Gopalakrishnan, Chairman, Institution of Engineers, Kochi chapter. They talked on the relevance of Engineers Day and also remembered the great luminary Sir.Visvesvaraya. Dr. T. K. Mani, Principal AISAT, proposed the vote of thanks. The program concluded with the National Anthem.

Engineers' day Celebration

Elocution Competition

AISAT in association with SEEM and IGBC, Kerala Chapter organized an elocution competition for college students on September 19, 2012 at seminar hall of AISAT on the topic “My Dream Home – My Green Home”. The contest was an endeavour to appeal to the creative intelligence of the youth and to bring out exciting ideas in the field of sustainable construction. Ar. B. R. Ajit, Chairman, Indian Green Building Council, Cochin Chapter addressed the student community regarding the relevance of going green. Participants from various colleges presented their views on the topic. Mr. G. Sivakumar, Director, Kerala State Productivity Council and Mr. Paul Manjooran, Director, WFB Baird & Co. Were the judges for the event. Mr.

Glazin G, final year C. E. student at SOE, CUSAT was the winner. Ms. Minnu Shaji, first year E.E., AISAT and Ms. Sana Nazar, second year Civil Engineering, FISAT were the runners up.

AISAT Onam Celebrations were held on August 24,2012 amidst great cheer and the cultural extravaganza witnessed a mass participation . The event was attended by all the student, the teaching and non-teaching staff of the college.

Various programmes were held as a part of Onam Celebration which included “Onapookkalam Competition” which had participation from all the batches, competing for the most cherished prizes. The competition got underway at 10.45 am as planned the students decorated their respective classrooms with astonishing designs, bringing out the creative talent of AISAT.

The pookkalam competitions went on till 11:45am. Onapattu, which sings of the great history behind the festival being celebrated started at 2.00 pm, the results of all the events were declared at 3.30 pm.

The 'Tug of War' contest took place among the students and the event was a fine success, as the students fought to the cheer of the audience, and each shout tightening their grips on the rope and making it harder for the other team. It was a pure show of skill and muscle power.

The day concluded with a cup of “payasam” which was enjoyed by the students as well as the staff.
