In order to design a new towncenter for Ecublens, the proposition projects itself in a vision that deals with the future of the city. Indeed, the recent global planifi cation for the west Lausanne focuses on what could satellite borough become. Th e proposition is more an advocacy that speaks about density. Th e urban perception talks about the narrowness between the buildings and the very human scale that exist in the plot.Th e surroundings are considered in order to provide view angles that express the urban sensation of the whole.Th e facades tend to provide depness to the building that play with transparency, wooden material and balconies, always considered as a fi lter, the facades moves and tend to be very unique and changeant depending of the time and the weather.

In a research of a diff erent way of housing and as an alternative to common living possibilities, this project is not just a spatial proposition; it’s an advocacy. A story which express density through its links between privacy and light, through what is shown and what is suggested. Th at’s why, working as a crystal, the project evolves underground, and, by its assemblage of simple forms, express itselfthrough the mass of the excavated. Every private space is based on a two block assemblage; a night and a day space which come together around the public voids created by the original assemblage. then, the recesses composed by the services required dig in a little more in the rock. A loggia, is provided to every appartment and get composed in the general assemblage.Every public space has its own identity and, in the complex, a cinema takes its place. Th e light guides the visitor playing with the volumes, snaking trough the concrete and sliding on the glass, it reaches the bottom of the void and appears as a particular atmosphere.

EVERY PUBLIC SPACE HAS ITS OWN IDENTITY AND, IN THE COMPLEX, A CINEMA TAKES ITS PLACE. THE LIGHT GUIDES THE VISITOR PLAYING WITH THE VOLUMES, SNAKING TROUGH THE CONCRETE AND SLIDING ON THE GLASS, IT REACHES THE BOTTOM OF THE VOID AND APPEARS AS A PARTICULAR ATMOSPHERE.

The project is situated in the historical part of Lausanne, the Saint-Pierre’s block. The buldding is seen as a monolith mass, and each oppening on the facade represent one apartment. The flats are organised around one loggia, which gives all the light needed. The loggia is completed with a window, which centers the landscape.
