The Power Jaws HistoryThe market presented us with a challenge: Standard equipment was not designed for the new requirements. Alternative solutions were not optimized for new drillpipe standards and caused reduction in safety and efficiency.

We developed the Power Jaws as the first low-marking system to handle drillpipe in standard Iron Roughneck and DDM Torque wrench.

Our system is designed to handle all sizes of equipment, making trouble free and cost ef-fective operations for all our customers. This is made possible through features such as curved dies and the Key Hole system. This enables easy change out between our different jaws sizes without any loose parts. The Power Jaws will do the job right every time, creating value and improving safety. We have developed Power Jaws and dies for different manufacturers, making handling of new pipe design possible.

Standard solutionThe standard jaw is designed to handle all sizes of drillpipe. The compromise of “One size fits all”, does not meet the challenge of drillpipe with high torque and slim tool joints. The standard jaw requires high clamping force to achieve high torque, creating documented “Egging” effect/ovality, resulting in insufficient make-up and brake-out problems.

Power JawsThe Power Jaw fits of the tool joint. With curved dies 33 % shorter than the standard dies, the contact area is increased by 490%. The result is no “Egging” effect, guaranteeing a correct make-up and safe, effective, trouble-free operations.
