• 8-10 Million pounds out of our manufacturing plant in Mead, WA
• We estimate 6-7000 acres are needed to cover our needs in Mead, WA(Based on Yields of 1500# per Acre)
• Last year 2600 acres were planted.

• Confections – For in-shell market
• Oils- for Bird food, Crush and De-hulling markets.
• Markets
• Blackoil Sunflowers typically go into three different markets
• De-hullers• Process and remove the meats for many types of edible products. • De-hullers have standards for size and test weight.
• Oil Crush• Crushes the sunflowers for oil.
• Very few standards for quality.
• Bird Food• Less stringent on specifications• Moisture content most critical.• We can work around Test Weight and Dockage.
• Planting / Harvest
• Planting takes place Mid April thru Mid May. • Use a pre-emergent before planting
• BroadAxe or Glyphosate
• Sunflowers are best planted after grass crops or fallow.
• Sunflowers like well drained soils.
