Akshaya - 2010 2010 was a year of significant progress, empowering Akshaya to face the years ahead with more confidence. Destitute Feeding With public support, around 400 people were served freshly cooked food everyday 3 times without disruption. Close to 4.4 Lakh meals served at a cost of around Rs.55 Lakhs. Akshaya Home First two blocks are practically complete ( 5000 sq.ft ). Good progress made in 3rd 4th and 5th blocks. So far Rs 160 lakhs spent in Home construction.

Statutory compliance Accounts as required are maintained, balance sheet prepared, audited and Income Tax returns filed. 80G exemption as per I.T act 1961 renewed on 7th October,2010 in perpetuity. Akshaya USA Akshaya USA registered as NPO. Tax exemption status from IRS as a public charity obtained. Akshaya approved for matching grant by many organizations.
CNN Award Krishnan, Managing Trustee, Akshaya is selected as “TOP10 Heroes 2010” by CNN USAafter several levels of scrutiny, from over 10,000 nominations received from 100 countries. http://www.cnn.com/SPECIALS/cnn.heroes/archive10/naryanan.krishnan.html The award function was widely telecast Globally during Thanks Giving/Christmas weeks. Encouraging response for CNN programme infuses more enthusiasm in our work. We received very good encouragement in various events organized during our U.S visit between November 17th and December 7th 2010 in Los Angeles, Bay Area San Francisco, Sacramento, Seattle, Atlanta, New York, New Jersey. Special thanks to our hosts/sponsors of these events. Recognition and exposure from CNN programme is a turning point for Akshaya . On this New year Akshaya rededicates itself to the chosen cause to perform to our potential in the years to come.
