Research Problem• The problem of educational dualism-Islamic

education is compartmentalized• Attempts to “Islamize” modern education have

failed• The establishment of Islamic private schools-

offer the integration of both academic and religious education

implementing integrated curriculum in Islamic private schools with regard to realize the concept of Islamization of knowledge.

a secondary Islamic private school• Lot 1078, Batu 8 ¾ in Gombak• Observe phenomena occur within

this school-classrooms, teacher’s room, office and surroundings

Data Collection• Choose a case study: the process of implementing

the integrated curriculum • Strategies:i. Observations: gather field notes by spending

more time as participant than as an observer.ii. Interviews: conduct an unstructured, open-ended

interview, audiotape and transcribe the interviewiii. Documents and records: analyze public doc.

(official memos, minutes, records, archival materials)

* The information is recorded thru field notes, interviews and observational protocols

• Data is stored in field notes, transcriptions and computer files
