Happy Holidays Al-Karim Court No. 219:
Al-Karim Court I would like to say “Thank You” again for a wonderful First
Ball! The entire weekend was so enjoyable. You are to be commended for
working hard and showing the Desert that Al-Karim is here to stay. Dt. Ar-
dra Caldwell, Chairperson for the First Ball did an outstanding job! Thanks
to you Dt. Caldwell and your committee for working together for Al-Karim
Court.
Al-Karim’s Mission for 2012 – “With a passionate pursuit of excellence,
Al-Karim Court No. 219 will provide support to the Oasis of Newnan
and the communities under its banner through charity, benevolence
and integrity while empowering each other through strength, unity
and love.” We have truly exemplified this through our community service.
Dt. Buchanan and Dt. Chatman, I say thank you for making my job so easy.
You have set the bar for those next year to continue the great job accom-
plished this year.
As we approach the holidays, remember to love and cherish your family
and friends. As we approach this 2012 Winter Season, remember those
that struggle to stay safe and warm. Most of all, may the joy of the Season
fill your Heart and your Home, now and in the year to come!

Community Service
Submitted by Dt. Kelsey
Community Service Team #1
For the Thanksgiving season, Al-Karim Court #219 Community Service Teams #1 and #2 are partnered
together to feed the senior citizens of Newnan, Georgia. We donated thanksgiving baskets with food items
to them. The turkey for the basket was donated by the court while the various side items were donated by the
membership.
Senior members of St. Smyrna Baptist Church of Newnan along with The Tommy Thompson Senior Center
were the organizations that benefitted from the generosity of the membership. For the St. Smyrna Baptist
Church seniors, a presentation was made to the church membership preceding our November 2012 court
meeting. For the seniors of The Tommy Thompson Center, both a presentation was made after of November
court meeting and home deliveries to John Callaway, Emma Daniel, and Betty Doler; all three are seniors in
the Newnan community. A big thank you goes out to all of the Daughters of Al-Karim who donated food
items and their time towards making this outreach project a success!

ing her Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership and Doctorate Degree in Adult Education.
Her love for serving the community and thirst for knowledge compelled her to join Al-Karim Isis
Club, currently known as Al-Karim Court No. 219. Some things she enjoys about being a member
of the court are the opportunities to positively impact the Newnan and surrounding communities,
the ritualistic teachings, and the fellowship with the other members.
In her spare time, she enjoys reading, line dancing, and as a true Sagittarian, learning new things.
Dt. Cynthia Anderson
Daughter Anderson was born and raised in Warren, Ohio. She relocated
to Atlanta in 2006 with her husband. Together they have 7 children and

has been growing each year and she Thanks GOD. She loves to travel, dance and have fun. She
really enjoys crafts and listening to inspirational audio. Her favorite pass time used to be roller
skating.
As a child she watched my brother, aunt & uncle do work in the order. They participated in toy
drives, food give-a-ways just to name a few. So she decided that she wanted to be a part of giv-
ing back and helping others. The one thing that she regrets is not joining as a child.
She has wanted to be a member of DOI for quite some time. She feels truly blessed to be a part
of this Sisterhood. She enjoys being a part of all the different committees and the things we do to
help others. Thanks Dt. Jimikea Chapman for sharing Al Karim Isis Club with me.

A smile ~
May brighten up a cloudy day
Can make you feel good
Welcomes what the eyes can see
Can change an attitude
Warms the inside from its glowing beam
Unlike the sun, won’t affect your sight
Nor will it harm your skin
Can instantly bring happiness
Starts out as a grin
Reflects a person’s grace
Less work with fewer muscles used
Makes an attractive face
Kind of contagious too
When it is seen, it’s true....
A smile can do all of this.
