Dear Nobles,

As most of you know I campaigned all year by asking

everyone to vote for me to be your Potentate in 2014. The re-

sponse was shown by the number of nobles that came to vote. I

want to thank every noble for placing confidence in me by elect-

ing me Potentate in 2014.

First Lady Joyce and I want this to be a fun year and every-

one taking part in all of the activities that the AL MENAH team

puts together for you, the Nobility. If you don’t take part you

don't need to complain. I hope you will be satisfied with pro-

grams we present and have no complaints. We all have to work

for children that need our efforts.

One of our goals in 2014 should be membership. We can all

try to recruit a new member to take our place. Johnny Dudley

and Jeff Head need every NOBLE's help in contacting possible

new members.

Congratulations to the elected Divan and the appointed

Divan for 2014.

The Public installation will be Jan. 5, 2014 at 2:00pm. at

AMT. The Ambassadors meeting will be held on Jan. 18, 2014

at AMT. All Unit Captains and Director's are invited to attend.

Many thanks to Past Potentate David Vaughn and Lady

Terry for a great year of service in 2013. Good luck in the future.

Lady Joyce and I hope everyone had a merry Christmas and

will have a Happy New YearYours in the faith

CLOWNS

A great time was had by all at the

Clowns A great time was had by

all at the Christmas party where

we celebrated the accomplishments

of the Unit during 2013 and ushered in the

new officers for 2014. Our leadership for

2014 are Captain Scott “Joker” Jones, Lieu-

tenant Troy “Paint Bucket” Huneycutt,

newly elected Secretary Geoff ”Sticks” King

and Treasurer Gene “Stutter” King.

Plans are getting under way for the

SESCA Mid-Winter Convention in March

under the leadership of our own Ronnie

“Useless” Brown, President.

As the new year starts, don’t forget the

sick and those unable to attend functions.

Give them a call or send a card.

We have lots of events planned for the

upcoming year so ‘CLOWN UP’.

Geoff ‘Sticks’ King

Secretary

DIRECTOR'S STAFF

If you missed the Christmas party,

you missed hearing Barry El-

dridge sing "Lay Your Head Upon

My Pillow." I've spent the last 10

days trying to get the image of

Barry laying his head on my pillow out of

my mind!

A new year is upon us and 2014 is going

to be a great year. I'd like to thank Captain

Don Young and his wife Janie for their good

work for 2013 and putting on a wonderful

Christmas party. I'd also like to thank the De

Moyle and the brothers from Beech Lodge

for setting up and serving during the party,

and most especially Ben Helms for cooking

the steaks.

As you well now, the new officers for

2014 are Captain Jim Bellar, Lt. Donnie

Drayton and Sec./Tres. Joe Stroud. Jim and

Joe are both fine men and I would encourage

you to give them your support.

The Director's Staff has an im-

portant role to play in 2014. Let's

be sure to remember that our purpose in ex-

isting is to raise money to help fund the hos-

pitals and treat our patients.

The Temple calendar will soon be avail-

able, but just in case you haven't received

yours yet, January's upcoming events in-

clude the Ambassadors meeting on the 18th

at 9:00 a.m. in the Dining room and the Hill-

billy Degree on the 26th. If you and your

lady aren't Hillbillies you are missing a lot of

fun. Our unit meeting and the Directorettes

meeting is the 28th. All wives are eligible to

be Directorettes. February Events: Valen-

tines Party - 15th. Congratulations to our

Divan and Potentate Carl Barnes. Remem-

ber our sick and especially Johnny Beasley.

Pray for our service men and women.

And while you're at it, pray for our patients.

Our prayer is for God to guide the doctors

and give them the skills to make them better.

Lt. Donnie Drayton II

GREETERS

Congratulations to our newly elected divan.

Especially our new Potentate Carl Barnes

and Oriental Guide Horace Perkins III. We

want to thank Horace for the outstanding

Hospitality.

It was great to see everyone at the

Greeters Christmas Party. The food was

We had a very productive 2013 with lots of

Shrine Activities and great speakers for our

meetings. Our club did our part on the #1

thing we do by bringing in over $27,000.00

finished off 2013 with our Christmas Party,

at the Elks Lodge in Franklin. A new slate

of Club Officers was elected at that meeting.

A big thank you goes out to Potentate

David Vaughn and the entire Divan for the

MEMBERSHIP COMMITTEEThe Divan and Membership Committee are making an advance ef-

fort for 2014. As we all know the way to growing our Temple is

through maintaining our membership, involving our current mem-

bers and enlisting new Shriners. An emphasis is going to be placed

on a closer relationship with the Blue Lodges. The Temple is form-

ing a “Fellow Craft” degree team to visit Lodges and assist with De-

gree work. If you are interested in being on the team please contact

Buddy Helms: 615-822-1517, [email protected]; Jeff

Head: 615-310-9009, [email protected]; or Frank Hester:

615-513-3432, [email protected]. We need Nobles to fill all posi-

tions and Worshipful Masters to let us come and visit your Lodges

and help.

News from CincinnatiSpecialty care beyond the burn

On January 12, 2004, the Administrator at Shriners Hospitals for Children® – Cincinnati, received a letter from the Zorah Shrine Di-van recommending the nomination of Noble Jerry Hardisty for associate membership to the hospital’s Board of Governors. At that time the Divan wrote, “Jerry represents our Shrine with dignity and dedication and he will endeavor to serve our hospital with the same zeal.” Fast forward ten years and Jerry Hardisty has done just that; now Chairman of the Board of Governors, Jerry is passing his leadership torch, along with his passion

for improving the lives of children, as he moves to Emeritus status at the end of this year.

Jerry’s personal qualities of integrity, credibility and dedication to Shriners Hos-pitals for Children are paramount. Over the years, he has partnered with the Ad-ministrator of the Cincinnati hospital as well as other board members and staff to provide governance leadership and strategic fundraising support to move the organization into a sustainable entity. “He was the right man, at the right time, to lead the board of Governors and the hospital forward during what I believe has been the most challenging time of our existence” states Chairman-elect Doug Sitzler.

Chairman Hardisty’s extensive professional experience and career accom-plishments have allowed him to attract and recruit other well-qualified, experi-enced and high-performing board members. He has been a trusted advisor and has developed and helped to implement strategic plans that will ensure Shriners Hospitals for Children’s mission and goals continue long into the future. Jerry’s work for the hospital will continue. As an emeritus board member, he will continue to play an active role with the board by chairing the newly formed Research Committee whose first meeting is scheduled in January of 2014.

It is easy to see that Jerry is passionate about the success of the organiza-tion and he treats Shriners Hospitals for Children as a top philanthropic prior-ity. As acting ambassador for the Cincinnati hospital, he has developed and maintained relationships with funders, partners and other stakeholders. Vice Chairman-elect Dave Aaronson shares “For four years Chairman Hardisty has led Shriners Hospital for Children - Cincinnati with leadership and foresight as only he could, leaving a proud history of accomplishments that will serve us all for years to come.”

To Chairman Hardisty; thank you for championing the cause, for being a steward of our mission, and for strengthening and securing the future of Shriners Hospitals for Children – Cincinnati.
