#UATMT CONCURRENT SESSIONS ROOM 1044 (IN-SERVICE WING) - FOCUS: GUEST PRESENTATIONS

Session One: Be the “Pilot” of Your Classroom! - Cynthia and Ed Lowery, Teachers ‘N Tools Join Teachers ‘N Tools, TNT, and become the center of attention!

Session Two: Alabama Council for Technology in Education (ACTE) Tech Fairs - Amy Fowler, Fayette Elementary, ACTE State Director; Natalyn Burkhalter, Fayette Middle, ACTE State Board; Carol Abernathy, ACTE State Board ACTE-Alabama Council for Technology in Education is an organization that sponsors technology competitions for students in grades 3-12 throughout the state of Alabama. We have seven regions, and looking to include more. Tuscaloosa is in Region 6 which host its annual technology fair at Bevill State Community College in Fayette, AL. We would love to share with you what students can do in technology to showcase their talents.

Session Three: Learning How to Drive a Mouse on the AVL - David Burrow, Burrow Library Services, Inc. Teaching a simplistic way to navigate a database for K-4 early learners can be difficult. PebbleGo is a top choice for young learners just starting down the road of research. It introduces early learners to databases (Animals, Science, Social Studies, and Biographies) and research concepts with easy-to-use search tools. Young researchers will have the ability to easily write about their findings and navigate a site generator. It requires that students not only show that they can analyze and synthesize sources but can also present careful analysis, well-defended claims, and clear information through their writing.

Session Four: Google Expeditions - Meggin Mayben, Demopolis HS, and Sam Mayben Bring your lessons to life with Google Expeditions! Google Expeditions is a virtual reality app that can be paired with a mobile device to allow your students to travel to locations around the world and even into outer space to make learning relevant and purposeful. During this presentation, you will learn about Google Expeditions, discover available resources and locations, and participate in a hands-on experience with the VR kits.

ROOM 1040 (IN-SERVICE WING) - FOCUS: DIGITAL TOOLS

Session One: Quick and Easy Assessment Tools - Maria Wesson, MTT, Brookwood MS Looking for quick and easy tools to use for assessments? This session is for you! Come join us as we look at three tools that will not only allow you to easily see student progress and understanding, but also don't take a lot of time to make or grade!

Session Two: A world of possibility with Virtual Reality - Candace Young, MTT, Paul W. Bryant HS Do you hear people talk about using virtual reality in the classroom, but feel like the technology is out of reach? It's not! Using virtual reality is now easier than ever and can be done without extra tech. Students can see a world with many possibilities from your own classroom using the devices that you already have. Give your students ways to explore the world around them and "walk around" in someone else's shoes.
