The BeginningThe Global Entrepreneurship Center (GEC) was
started in 2003 with an award of a Kauffman Collegiate Entrepreneurship Network
(KCEN) Grant for $50,000.
The Center designed from beginning as a cross-campus activity by the College of Business
Administration and the College of Engineering. Later the Colleges of Arts & Sciences and
Education join.

KCEN & Campuses Grants
• 125+ campuses in the 2003 KCEN• Candidate chosen from KCEN schools.• Research oriented universities only. • Mixture of public and private universities.• Majority and minority oriented institutions.• Campuses from around the country.• Looking for “out of the box” proposals.

• Grants of up to $3-5million each.• 30 Campuses invited in May to submit. • 15 received $50,000 Planning Grants in
