Mental illnesses are highly prevalent among college students, and most go untreated

Knowledge and stigma are key barriers

Gatekeeper trainings have become popular, but supported by sparse evidence

Mental Health First Aid

MHFA is a 12-hour training to give laypersons skills to help people developing a MH problem or experiencing a MH crisis.

MHFA shown to have positive effects on trainees (higher knowledge, lower stigma, higher confidence in helping behaviors)

No evidence to date on effects on community members (much harder to test)
