Fossils from Sierra Atapuerca

in northern Spain's are from an

unknown species of early human,

according to the site's excavator

José Bermúdez de Castro of the

National Museum of Natural

Sciences, Madrid, and his

colleagues. They named the newly

i de nt i f i ed s pe c ie s H o mo

antecessor (from the Latin for

pioneer or explorer), and

claim that it is directly

ancestral to both modern

humans and Neandertals.

A year ago, they found this

human jaw in the

archaeological site and,

after their investigations,

archaeologists discovered

it is 1.2 million years old.

Can you believe the first Europeans lived in Spain 1.200.000

years ago?

New research has shown humans were able to talk 300,000

years ago. Pre-Neanderthals who lived in northern Spain

could utter basic vowel sounds, say researchers working at

the Atapuerca archaeological site in Burgos Province. They

had voice boxes at an evolutionary stage between

chimpanzees and modern humans. That

means that man could talk 300,000 years

ago, but not in the way we do now. They

could probably pronounce some basic

vowel sounds - "aa", "ee" and "oo" - but

not well enough to hold any kind of

conversation.

Fama is a reality TV programme.

In this programme, twenty persons dance in

different styles each week. These people

dance in pairs. Each week two persons leave

the school and a new pair of dancers enters

the school. Each

F r i d a y , t h e

teachers nominate

two people. On

Wednesday, all the

pairs fight in the

dance floor to get

the immunity and

then, the pair that

gets it can’t be

nominated on

Friday. At the end of the programme there is

a winner. Each week, the contestants also

make three choreographies in groups. And in

the choreography that they do on Sunday,

there is a winner. The teachers give them a

reward.

My favourite T.V. program is ‗Who wants to be a

millionaire?‘

It is so funny, because it‘s interesting and it‘s on a

public channel so is very easy to see.

It is very educational because you can learn a lot.

It is very popular because you can win money

and you can participate if you are an adult and play the game, and you can go

back to your house very happy because you can win money, and you are on

T.V.!!!!

You have 3 Lifelines: 50:50, Phone-a-friend and Ask the Audience. You can

win up to 1.000.000€ so all people go and try to win money.

Paco’s Men

It

is a drama and comedy program and is

very interesting. I laugh a lot with this

serial. It is about three policemen solving

cases about criminals and thieves. They

always do their job very well but in a very special way. They always do too

many silly things. If you see it you will know why this serial is very

popular and many people think the same way.

My town, Lietor, is very beautiful. It is 61

km. From Albacete. It has got alot of chur-ches and houses. There is a park in the

centre of the town. In August there is a big

celebration and a lot of people and tourists come to have a good time. In the morning

people run the bulls in the streets and at

night there is a dance in ‗Plaza Mayor‘. In summer, I like to go swimming with my

friends to the swimming-pool.

Around the town, there are ma-ny trees and a nice landscape. If you come to visit my town you can also eat

‗miel sobre hojuelas‘. By Emilio Selva 1A ESO

There are a lot of interesting food in the diet of Albacete.

For example, you can eat an omelette with potatoes or the typical food in Castilla – La Mancha: ―gazpachos manchegos‖. They are a special bread with

flour and water. They are delicious!. You can also try

‗atascaburras’ and ‗ajo mataero’ Other food is beans with spicy pork

sausages.

My favourite dish is meat with tomatoes and onions.

If you go to Albacete, you should go to

several restaurants, for example: la Mezquita, Trinos, el Callejón de los Gatos, el Colegial , el Teide,

etc… where you can eat a very special typical dish from Albacete.

Hello! My name is Anastasia and I am from Ukraine.

I have been living in Spain for two years. During this time I have visited many cities and towns. Each city has its beauty. Albacete is a very

beautiful city. It has many interesting places to visit. If you like nature, you can go and spend all day in the different parks of Albacete, such as Abelardo Sánchez, Lineal, La Pulgosa, Fiesta del Árbol. There are many places for the children, a lot of green

trees and nice flowers. You can enjoy the flowers and green trees all the year round. If you are a person who likes history, you can visit many museums and churches. One of the main and beautiful churches is the Cathedral of San Juan. It is in the centre of the

city. It was founded in the XVI century. Everyday a lot of people visit this cathedral. I like this cathedral very much, and my parents and I often visit it.

There are many schools of football in Albacete and they are very popular for children. Kids can train everyday and then on Saturday they play football games to be the champions of the league. It isn't whether you win or lose, but how you play the game! Here you have some Guidelines for Players: 1. Play for the "fun of it", not just to please your parents or coach. 2. Where rules apply, try to understand them and obey them. 3. Control your temper and accept the decisions of the referee. Let your

teacher ask any necessary questions. 4. Be a good sport. Be magnanimous in victory and accept defeat with dignity. 5. Remember that the aim of the game is to have fun, to improve your skills, and to enjoy competitive sport. 6. Work equally hard for yourself and your team your team's performance will benefit and so will your own. 7. Treat all players as you would like to be treated. Don't bully or take unfair advantage of any player. 8. Co operate with your referee, team mates and opponents without them you do not have a game. Remember to thank the referee and your opponents after the match.
