School Board Nominations & Elections

Thank you to all of the parents who have nominated themselves or someone else for the School Board. As nominations closed Wednesday 6 March, I am pleased to share that we had 5 nominations for positions on the board. This means for a second year running we will be putting out a voting slip. Please stay tuned for the nominee information and voting slips.

Swimming Carnival

Good luck to everyone who is competing in the House Swimming Carnival tomorrow Friday 8 March. Being a part of the team and striving for Personal Excellence in all your events is what Inter-house Carnivals are all about!

Car Parks… again!

Parking…thank you to those who have made a conscious effort to park in the correct locations or find alternative parking to the footpath and kerbs. Please remember to abide by the City of Albany signage in relation to parking restrictions. Especially on Suffolk Street to NOT reverse over the footpath into on coming traffic, reverse in so you are driving out.

Playground & Courtyard – Before and After School

If you are allowing your child/ren to play in the courtyard or playground before and after school, it is your responsibility to provide appropriate supervision. Unfortunately, we have had a number of complaints and injuries during these times. Our school expectations, RISE, needs to be demonstrated by your child/ren during these times also. Thank you for your cooperation.

Regards

Mrs Jayde Hewson

Principal

P&C

We have received great feedback about the new school journals that the students have this year, and are proud to

have funded them, thanks to the fundraising efforts of our wonderful school community!

We can’t wait for Spare Parts Puppet Theatre’s incursion of Tim Winton’s Blueback in Week 6, also funded by the

P&C. We consider ourselves very lucky to have such a strong school community making things like these happen for

our students.

Our next meeting is in Week 7 – Monday 18 March 2019, 7.00 pm in the APS staff room. If you have any ideas, or

simply want to find out how projects like the journals and SPPT incursion unfold, please come along, and feel free to

bring a friend or three.

We are still looking for a Vice-President! Please talk to us if you are interested – catch us at school,

call Carly at 0403 756 816, or dob in a friend.

Uniform Shop

The Uniform Shop is currently looking for new volunteers, as some of our long-time volunteers are stepping down

following years of volunteering. If you can spare 45 minutes twice a term, please contact Rowena Metselaars at

[email protected] or 0409 927 459.

All training is provided, and no experience is necessary.

Our fabulous APS P&C reusable calico bags are for sale through the uniform shop.

They are $8 each or 3 for $20. Purchase with cash at the uniform shop, or online

via www.quickcliq.com.au under the Uniforms tab and look for Enviro Bag.

Walking School Bus

We are looking for new volunteer supervisors so that we can have more children on the Walking School Bus. Just

putting your name down as an emergency stand in for a regular volunteer would be a big help. Let us know what you

can do and when you can do it, and we’ll get you busy. Please contact Nico at [email protected].

Your Move News

Hands Up survey results

Our first Hands Up survey for the year produced some brilliant results – our best start to the year so far! 43% of students (Yr 1-6) arrived at school on a bike or scooter, on foot, or on the bus. Awesome work APS students and families – let’s see if we can get to 50% by the end of 2019.

Ride2School Day – Friday 22 March

Get your bike or scooter out, it’s Ride2School Day on Friday 22 March!

Turn up on your wheels to take part in our bicycle obstacle course, and be in the running for some great prizes. Look out for the Your Move team on the basketball courts – be there by 8.20am to be part of the fun!
