During the 2017-2018 aca- demic year, the Alcorn State University Office of Global Pro- grams (OGP) was pleased to welcome Jie Yuan, a visiting Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistant (FLTA) for 2017-2018. Jie taught Chinese in the OGP during the fall 2017 and spring 2018 semesters to Alcorn students, staff and facul- ty. Both presentations were held in the Medgar W. Evers auditori- um in the J.D. Boyd Library. e first presentation, held on Wednesday, October 17, 2017 featured Robert Skinner, Direc- tor, United Nations Information Centre, Washington D.C. His topic was “e United Nations in a Time of Transition: Its Role and Challenges.” e second lecture was held on Tuesday, November 14, 2017. e speaker was Kali Jones, Diplomat in Residence, Tulane University, U.S. Depart- ment of State. She spoke about “Career Opportunities in the Foreign Service.” Left: Robert Skinner talks about the humanitarian efforts put forth by the United Na- tions. In September, The Natchez (MS) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated collaborated with Alcorn State University and entered a three-year Memorandum of Understand-ing with the University. Through this MOU, the Natchez (MS) Chapter will provide support to interna-tional students affiliated with the OGP and serve as their community mentor and host family. The Links, Inc. is an international, not-for-profit corporation established in 1946. The membership con-sists of more than 15,000 pro-fessional women of color in 287 chapters located in 41

be on campus during the Thanksgiving break, each stu-dent was given a laundry bas-ket filled with personal hy-giene items, water, juice, and healthy snacks.
