( )DEVELOPING LEADERS FOR ASIA

Asia is growing rapidly although development levels remain uneven across the

continent. Financial organisations have been central to driving the Asia growth

story. To remain relevant, and indeed be the engine of Asia’s growth, financial

organisations will have to constantly reinvent themselves. This requires leaders

who understand Asia in all its diversity, have the intellectual curiosity to move

up the learning curve, and possess the managerial talent to navigate the

many challenges Asia will face in the decades ahead.

Leadership that matters and works along the requirements of the 21st century is

established by providing an evidence-based learning experience where a sound

understanding of the principles of effective leadership are combined with exposure

to other leaders’ journeys. Through this programme, developed by a committed

group of academics and industry leaders devoted to Asia’s progress, participants

will be guided by the principles, experiences and wisdom of the trailblazers in

academia and finance.

Ideal candidates include members of top management identified as future leaders

of organisations – senior directors, executive vice presidents, and managing

directors from:• Financial institutions (banks, insurance companies, asset managers, asset owners)

• Financial regulatory agencies

• Sovereign wealth funds

• Other forms of financial industry organisations

PARTICIPANT PERSPECTIVES

I have been through many executive programmes throughout my 20-year career in the insurance industry, but what I found fascinating in ALFI is the seminar speakers it has been able to attract, in addition to NUS Business School’s faculty. We were very fortunate to have at least an hour and a half with leaders of some very big corporations, whom we have gained a lot from.

It was a programme rich in context, with great balance between the technical inputs from faculty as well as practical insights from captains of the industry.

ALFI by NUS Biz School is a unique and valuable course for senior bankers in Singapore and Asia The content, speakers and senior faculty engagement across key financial centres around APAC make this a special course. I personally gained the following from the course:

Deeper understanding of financial markets and economic development of the cities we visited, all of whom have great impact on banking in Asia.

A better introspection of my leadership style through the sharings from the faculty lectures and the external speakers

Inspiration to make a difference through banking from the luminaries of the banking world who you arranged to speak to us and engage us in dialogue.

A stronger network of Asian bankers across 8 countries who attended the course.

ALFI is a very unique programme with top-notch speakers both from business leaders or faculty. All keynotes during the programme were stimulating and not theories but real business examples which we can apply to our business. Nothing of this kind is written in any books.
