Relations With The U.S.The United States and Italy began domestic

relations in 1861 after it became one state. The U.S. has strong relations with all of Europe, which includes Italy. They are NATO allies and the U.S.

has multiple military bases in Italy. U.S. additionally homes about13,000 of their soldiers

on these bases on Italian soil. Italy is a very active transatlantic partner to U.S. as both strive to meet

democratic ideals and want cooperation in civil conflict.
