ALEXANDER FLEMING’S RESEARCH
Made by Antonio Avramovic
The question origin
While Fleming was working in St. Mary’s hospital he was studying bacteria that were a reason for many diseases. Once before he went on his holiday he left some bacteria to reproduce so when he comes back he will have more to work on. After he left from the window some particles of moss flew in. When Fleming came back he noticed that the moss killed the bacteria.
How did this happenThe question
Research
Fleming made observations and concluded that the moss has made an anti-bacterial substance.
The moss was acting as a poison to the bacteria and because the moss was called Penicillium notatum he called the substance he discovered penicillin.
Hypothesis
Alexander Fleming wondered because the penicillin kills bacteria will it be harmful on sick patients.
Testing the hypothesis thru research He started experimenting on rabbits an
mice, and the penicillin did not harm them.
Conclusion
Bacteria Bacteria with penicillin
Fleming’s hypothesis was correct and saved a lot of lives. All because a single particle of moss that flew in from the window.
