Why do I have to wait for an Officer
Call Prioritization
When calls are entered, they are given a priority rating based on the type of call. (The ratings are Emergency, Immediate, Prompt, Delay)
Calls are dispatched based on the priority rating and officer availability. Only for an Emergency or significant Immediate call will officers be requested to break from their current status.
Emergency and Immediate calls have a higher priority , regardless of wait time on Prompt and/or Delay calls.
Text to 9-1-1❖ Allows contact to 9-1-1 through text messages ❖ Simply enter “911” as the recipient without dashes ❖ Keep message straightforward and tell the
Communications Officer: • Location• Name• What is the emergency• And answer any other questions asked
Use Only if:
- You are deaf, hard of hearing, or have a speech disability, (Not in place of relay service)
- It is not safe for you to call 9-1-1- Medical emergency renders you unable to speak- Unable to make an outgoing call due to lack of signal
