Alfa Laval PHE Oil Cooling series General information Alfa Laval´s PHE (Plate Heat Exchanger) Oil Cooler series is a range of gasketed plate heat exchangers suitable for most hydraulic systems. The high efficiency oil coolers have capaci- ties of up to 30 MW (40000 HP). They handle pressures up to 25 bar (360 psi) and a maximum temperature of 180°C (350°F). Alfa Laval PHE Oil Coolers are suitable in industrial, marine and offshore applications. With a wide variety of plate materials, there are always solutions for different duties and environments. Working principle The PHE Oil Cooler consists of a pack of corrugated metal plates with portholes (for the passage of two fluids - oil and cooling water) between which heat transfer takes place. Channels are formed between the plates and the corner ports are arranged so that oil and water flow through alternate channels. The heat is transferred through the plate between the channels, and complete counter current flow is created for the highest possible efficiency. The corrugation of the plates enables passage between the plates, supports each plate against the adjacent one and enhances turbulence, which results in efficient heat transfer. The modular design of the PHE Oil Cooler series enables flexi- bility in the mechanical configuration. The connections can be adapted to individual needs as pipe threads or flanges. The position of the connections can be altered between the front and back. It is also easy to configure the unit for cooling more than one oil circuit in the same unit. Competitive advantages of Alfa Laval PHE Oil Coolers: SIZE – High heat transfer efficiency combined with a compact design reduces size to a minimum. WATER CONSUMPTION – A true counter-current flow and high heat transfer efficiency minimize consumption of cooling water. FOULING – The well-distributed flow and high wall shear stress on the plate surface result in a self-cleaning effect to minimize fouling. FLEXIBILITY – A compact shape combined with a choice of connections and configurations makes it easier to design and build compact hydraulic systems that boost optimum per- formance. The plate technology also enables easy expansion of capacity if needed. AVAILABILITY – With Alfa Laval presence and manufacturing sites all over the world, there is always easy and cost-efficient availability of PHE Oil Coolers. CERTIFICATES – All Alfa Laval PHE Oil Coolers are available with a wide range of pressure vessel certificates such asoil & gas and marine certificates. Hydraulic Oil Cooling Applications

Alfa Laval PHE Oil Cooling series

General informationAlfa Laval´s PHE (Plate Heat Exchanger) Oil Cooler series is a range of gasketed plate heat exchangers suitable for most hydraulic systems. The high efficiency oil coolers have capaci-ties of up to 30 MW (40000 HP). They handle pressures up to 25 bar (360 psi) and a maximum temperature of 180°C (350°F). Alfa Laval PHE Oil Coolers are suitable in industrial, marine and offshore applications. With a wide variety of plate materials, there are always solutions for different duties and environments.

Working principleThe PHE Oil Cooler consists of a pack of corrugated metal plates with portholes (for the passage of two fluids - oil and cooling water) between which heat transfer takes place.

Competitive advantages of Alfa Laval PHE Oil Coolers:SIZE – High heat transfer efficiency combined with a compact design reduces size to a minimum.

WATER CONSUMPTION – A true counter-current flow and high heat transfer efficiency minimize consumption of cooling water.

FOULING – The well-distributed flow and high wall shear stress on the plate surface result in a self-cleaning effect to minimize fouling.

FLEXIBILITY – A compact shape combined with a choice of connections and configurations makes it easier to design and build compact hydraulic systems that boost optimum per-formance.
