Welcome to Alfa2010 saw us acquire two more hotels: theSeabank Hotel in Porthcawl and the RoyalNorfolk Hotel in Bognor Regis. Both arelandmark buildings which help to define theresorts in which they are situated. In manyways they symbolise what Alfa is all about:spacious comfortable hotels of great characterin outstanding seaside locations, wellappointed rooms, generous public areas, goodfood and above all, a warm welcome.

There is nothing quite like a seaside break tolift the spirit and recharge the batteries. But itis not just about the seaside: if you are lookingfor beautiful scenery or cultural interest, bothPorthcawl and Bognor Regis have plenty tooffer with nearby National Parks, statelyhomes and lots of other attractions.

If you have never experienced a coach holidaybefore, you’re in for a treat. There is nothingwhich combines interest and relaxation quiteas successfully as a coach holiday. Sit back asour experienced drivers ensure your safety andwhisk you away to some of the best holidaysyou will ever experience. And you don’t haveto worry about harming the environment. Notonly are coaches the safest form of transportbut they are also one of the greenest!

Joining Your Alfa HolidayFeeder ServicesFor all holidays clients are conveyed by feederservices to Reading Motorway Services on the M4in Berkshire to join their tour coach.Approximate timings are as follows:Outward (Westbound Services): 11.30am - 12.15pmReturn (Eastbound Services): 3.00pm - 3.45pmPick up times are finalised two weeks beforedeparture and will be indicated on your travel ticket.

Choosing Your Joining PointPlease study the feeder route map carefully andconsider the relative locations of your startingpoint, the resort you would like to visit and ReadingServices. It is possible to go from any joining pointto any destination but some combinations are notadvisable. For example, we would recommend thatclients from Kent, Sussex, Suffolk and Essex do notconsider holidays in Eastbourne, Folkestone or EastAnglia since the feeder journey will take themWest before returning East again. On the otherhand, if clients from those areas are consideringtravelling West (for example to Devon or Cornwall),Reading is on direct line of route and makes aconvenient coffee stop.

Special Notes1. In the interest of clarity not all joining points are

shown on this map – see list.2. The map should be taken as a general guide only

and routes may be altered to suit operationalcircumstances.

3. Feeder routes are normally finalised 14 days priorto departure and clients booking after that timemay be offered a restricted choice of pick uppoints.

4. The feeder coach may not necessarily show thedestination to which you are travelling - pleasecheck with driver.

5. On some occasions taxis may be used to providea feeder service from some points.

6. Dover is available for Continental holidays only.

Great Times… Great Value! At Alfa, we have a dedicated Groups Team which specialises inplanning and providing great value group holidays. Every year hundredsof groups entrust their holiday to us because we understand thatorganising a group getaway can be time consuming unless you can count on the support of yourvery own experienced and knowledgeable Group Booking Advisor.

“Off the Peg” Group HolidaysMost group organisers opt to choose from one of the great value breaks advertised in our holiday brochures. With traditional seaside and loch side locations throughout the UK and a range of appealing destinations inWestern Europe, your group really will be spoilt for choice. All of the holidays in this brochure are available forbooking by groups and your group will always get the best value by booking one of our advertised toursbecause we bulk-buy the space and pass the savings on to you. We can tailor most itineraries to yourrequirements, for example by adding extra excursions or omitting entrance fees. Our generous discountsprovide the 21st, 31st, 41st and 51st passenger travelling absolutely free of charge on all advertised holidays. We also offer special joining arrangements for groups and, providing there is a minimum of 40 persons in theparty, groups are automatically given sole use of the coach which means that your party will travel direct to yourchosen destination without having to travel via an interchange point. For most organisers this is one of the keybenefits booking a group departure. If your group is not large enough to take a whole coach, we can easilyreserve part of a coach for your party and can usually make arrangements with local travel agencies to “top up”your group with individual bookings from your local area to avoid the need to travel via an interchange. Our DirectJoin holidays are especially suitable for part groups and the joining points can normally be adjusted to yourrequirements.

“Made to Measure” Group HolidaysOver the years our Groups Team has organised a huge range of tailor made holidays for groups. We are alwaysdelighted to discuss the possibilities with those of you looking for something a little bit different. We have particular expertise in organising special interest tours including Gardens & Stately Homes, Food &Wine, General History, Heritage Railways and other British Heritage Breaks. We can also offer packages toinclude dancing and various sports - with bowling being a particular favourite since most of our own hotels arein close proximity to an established bowling green.

These Boots Were Made for Walking…Many of the hotels we use are ideally placed as a base for walking holidays. Whetheryour party would like to walk the coastal paths of Devon and Cornwall, enjoy the delightsof the Lake District, the Dales or North York Moors or undertake something a little morestrenuous in Snowdonia, the Cairngorms or West of Scotland, our Groups Departmentwill be delighted to assist. Here are just a few hotel suggestions for you to consider:Snowdonia from Llandudno or Criccieth, Glamorgan from Porthcawl, Dales and NorthYork Moors from Scarborough, Exmoor and Devon Coastal Path from Ilfracombe, CornishCoastal Path: North from Newquay, South West from St Ives or South from Falmouth,

South Downs Way from Bognor Regis, Lake District from Coniston, Argyll from Dunoon and Nevis Range fromFort William. As a Group Organiser you have the benefit of having your own coach and driver on hand for mostof your stay which means you have the maximum flexibility in planning your walking itinerary.

In all, this brochure features a choice of almost 50different hotels. Most of our holidays are to our ownLeisureplex Hotels and we give brief details of them here. For further details about them as well as information onthe non-Leisureplex hotels we use, please refer to ourweb site www.alfatravel.co.uk. The web site provides farmore detail than is possible here including lots of resortinformation and links to local attractions and events .

GradesHotel grading is quite a subjective process and it can bedifficult to compare one hotel with another. We have triedto overcome the problem by ensuring that our own hotelsare part of the best known scheme - the AA scheme. We also show our own opinion of all the hotels featuredin our brochure using our symbol. The grade isdesigned to be more focussed on our customers’ needs. In awarding an grade, we bear in mind the frequencyof entertainment (which is not part of the AA scheme)and disregard such matters as the availability of roomservice. We also consider the comments we havereceived from clients during the past year.
