The catalo- gue documenting the various phases of the project will be presented on this occasion. In addition, as a result of the contribution made by the Eduardo Secci Contemporary and Il Ponte galleries, it will also be possible to visit in Florence the large installation entitled Passi Museo Novecento 2015 (Steps Museo 900) created by the artist in collaboration with the musician Alvin Curran specifically for the courtyard of the Museo Novecento to coincide with the “Firenze suona contemporanea” Festival. In the Florence gallery of Eduardo Secci, Alfredo Pirri presents works of different chronology and dimensions which nevertheless share the artist’s constant interest in the borderland between art and architecture, the focus on materials and colour and the attention to light and its refraction. These aspects combine to “reconfigure” the gallery as an oneiric place of constant driftage. The show opens with the installation that gives the project its title, On the Horizon: seven large showcases encasing stratifications of torn “museum cardboard” illuminated by reflecting circular forms. The composition, further highlighted by the light refraction of the acrylic paints behind, evokes suspended landscapes, “lunar samples” veined with transient colour. In the following room two Arie hint at an elusive narration. These are created on a plexiglas support coloured with body to which feathers dusted with powder pigments are fixed, sub- sequently painted on the rear with acrylics. This painstaking process of execution generates “a blurred chromatic and material flow, as if borne on the wind”.

The Gallery Eduardo Secci Contemporary is delighted to announce the new one-man show of Alfredo Pirri, second part of the progect All’Orizzonte,

The exhibition, which will open on 24 September in the premises in Via Maggio 51R, follows the show held in our Pietrasanta venue and precedes the one-man show opening at the Galleria Il Ponte on 15 January 2016, which will complete this exhibition cycle. The catalo-gue documenting the various phases of the project will be presented on this occasion.

These are created on a plexiglas support coloured with body to which feathers dusted with powder pigments are fixed, sub-sequently painted on the rear with acrylics. This painstaking process of execution generates “a blurred chromatic and material flow, as if borne on the wind”.

In the same room is a work from the recent Kindertotenlieder series. Set upon a small table the plate of crystal with its chromatic and germinative holes cre-ates an ulterior, abstract surface populated by biomorphic forms, possible bir-ths counterpoised to the death evoked by the title borrowed from Mahler.

While Pirri assiduously treats the surface as a strictly spatial element, the three-di-mensional works always have a strong pictorial matrix, even when, as happens in Canto n.1. Progetto per un film (Song no. 1. Project for a film) – the installation displayed on the lower floor of the gallery – the initial element is a reel of film. The conical cast of the original film is enclosed within a transparent case, with the tip turned downwards. Illuminated from below, the shape is irradiated and doubled, becoming “the image of a luminous projection in space and also an expansion to infinity of its original matrix”.

The artist’s pictorial sensitivity is frequently developed in the creation of architecture – real or imaginary – generating spaces that that have in common a continual dialectic between physicality and intangibility, vision and experience, seclusion and sharing.Indeed, for Pirri, architecture is to be understood “as space but also as a pla-ce of archetypal relation” which has always absolved a public function but also, at the same time, is conceived to foster moments of private medita-tion that contribute to nurture reflection and all forms of creative activity.
