The Management Academy is an interactive learning program that is relevant and practical in nature. Designed for Administrators with supervisory responsibility, it is an opportunity to explore, further develop, enhance and align management practices. Participants will be introduced to and expand upon contemporary concepts, skills, and tools specific to managing in post-secondary education such as: Managing People, Managing Budget, College Environment, Curriculum and Student Success. Participants will have access to their own expert internal resources in the areas of labour relations, employee engagement, and strategic business planning specific to budgeting. In addition, participants will have an opportunity to collaborate with colleagues from across the College to discover and share effective practice. Completion of the Management Academy is mandatory for all Administrators with supervisory responsibility (Academic and non-Academic). The program is offered across three semesters in the academic year (Fall, Winter and Spring). Each workshop is a half day and promotes a collaborative learning structure that includes independent work and small group discussion. Resources will be provided by facilitators to enhance the learning experience and to instigate further exploration of each topic. A Certificate of Completion will be provided upon successful completion of the Academy. Note: those who completed workshops offered by Human Resources in Winter 2014 (Managing in a Unionized Environment, Performance Management and Having Difficult Conversations), will receive a "credit" (one per workshop completed) toward completion of the Management Academy.
