The natural beauty of stones set in durable concrete

Exposed aggregate is a hard wearing and decorative alternative to standard concrete, and is perfect for pathways, pool surrounds, driveways and outdoor entertainment areas. The exposed effect is created by removing the surface of the concrete to reveal the beautiful stones embedded within. A sealer is then applied to protect and enhance the finished product.

You can choose a heavier or lighter aggregate exposure depending on your desired look and feel. A lighter exposure creates a smoother more bare-foot friendly surface, while a heavier exposure provides maximum slip resistance.

Exposed Aggregate Colour Through allows you to choose from a wide variety of aggregates and concrete colours. The concrete is coloured all the way through for maximum consistency and integrity. We achieve this by adding the colour pigment to the concrete during the manufacturing process which provides a superior result to surface colouring techniques.

You can choose a heavier or lighter aggregate exposure depending on your desired look and feel. A lighter exposure creates a smoother more bare-foot friendly surface, while a heavier exposure provides maximum slip resistance.

Stencil provides you with the wide range of patterns, textures and colours of brick, stone or tile paving in a hard wearing slip resistant textured finish. Stencil is abrasion resistant to vehicle or pedestrian traffic. A perfect low maintenance solution for driveways, pathways, patios, terraces, courtyards and pool surrounds, especially sloping or hilly terrain.

Colours and patterns represented in this brochure are indicative only. Colour variations can also occur in the finished product resulting from different batched materials and composition of pre-mixed concrete from time to time since they are derived from natural sources and product placement and finishing practices used by independent concrete contractors.

Impression is a stamp imprint made on fresh concrete that replicates the textures, colour features and finish of slate or stone. It is ideal for driveways and pathways making a beautiful and affordable impression on the landscape and garden features of traditional and modern homes.

There are many benefits to using stamped concrete. Concrete is one of the most durable building materials available for paving, which comes in handy for high traffic areas such as driveways and walkways. With proper preparation, steel reinforcing and finishing techniques, stamped concrete is second to none in terms of its durability.

Choosing stamped concrete over other paving materials such as natural stone can be a more economical choice. When installed properly stamped concrete can offers the same looks as natural stone and slate but with durability to last a lifetime.

The biggest advantage to stamped concrete is the variety of appearances and colours combined with the durability of concrete. Concrete stamping provides unlimited design opportunities such as aged cobblestones, brickwork, flagstones, slate tile, marble, granite, wood, or just about any natural surface.

Colours and patterns are indicative only. Inspection of completed works by referred concrete contractors and actual manufactured colour samples is recommended to confirm choice of colour, pattern and finish for the completed works.

Colour Through

Coloured concrete is usually pigmented to suit specific customer requirements. Pigments are sourced from reputable quality suppliers that produce man-made, synthetic, inorganic, stable pigments which are highly resistant to UV radiation. Coloured concrete can then be treated by the concrete contractor in many different ways to achieve the final appearance, eg Exposed, Polished, Stencil or Impression.

NP. Any of these colours can be used as a base for any exposed, blasted or polished concrete finish.

Economix can make you a trial mix and you can have your concrete contractor provide you with an example of the finish.

How to get the most out of your Economix product.We want you to be 100% happy with your purchase, so please take some time to read through our Frequently Asked Questions.

How much lead-in time do I need to give?This depends on which product you are ordering. Give our friendly team a call to find out how many weeks lead-in time you need to allow.

Can I lay my Economix product myself?We strongly recommend the use of a licensed and reputable concreter to lay your concrete floor or complete your stencil, impression or colour-through finish. A good concreter will agree to a pre-lay test to ensure you will have the finish you’re after.

How can I make the most of my Economix product finish?Please note that the addition of water or other substances to the pre-set concrete is not advised as it may change its look and strength.

We highly recommend that your decorative concrete be properly set and sealed prior to use. By reapplying the sealant at regular intervals you will guarantee a superior appearance and finish to your Economix product. All sealant products should be patch tested prior to use to ensure a quality finish.

Will a consistent look be achieved?As our product ingredients are sourced from natural materials, some variation in the look, colour, shape and texture may occur. We recommend that you carefully examine our product brochure and showroom samples prior to purchasing, noting that all examples are indicative only.

How should colour-through, polished, stencil and impression work be completed?Economix strongly recommends the use of a licensed and reputable concreter for all your concrete works. In addition, the provision of an appropriately prepared surface on which to lay your Economix products is vital to the integrity and overall look of your concrete finish. Economix advises that ongoing maintenance and cleaning of your concrete surface is required. Some impressed and polished concrete finishes are not recommended for sloping or wet areas in accordance with Australian Standards.

Economix further advises against the laying of any decorative concrete products with a concrete pump, and cannot be held responsible for poor or unqualified workmanship or the use or addition of water or other products or the run-off of these products into any sewerage, drainage or natural waterway system.
