Where a Jaguar Lives

• South America, Central America, Mexico, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Peru, Bolivia and Southern California

• Favorite habitat is a dark tropical forest with a river or a swamp

What a Jaguar Likes To Eat

• They eat sloths, fish, and other water creatures

• Tapirs, turkeys, armadillos and turtles

• Jaguars are carnivores

A Jaguar’sEarly Stages of Life

• Jaguars can have up to four cubs

• The follow their mother when they are six weeks old

• Months pass before hunting on their own

• They stay with their mother for two years

Why Jaguars Are Endangered

• Angry farmers are killing jaguars for attacking their cattle and sheep

• Big sections of jungles are being burned and bulldozed off for farms

• There are about 15,000 left in the world

How Jaguars Are Getting Help

• Belize opened a park to help protect the jaguars

• There is a law to protect them from hunters
