Claude Monet
Claude Monet was an artist born in Paris in 1840. He grew up in France and he started to love drawing when he was very little.
Even though Monet lived over 150 years go his paintings are still admired by lots of people today.
Changing LightMonet often painted the same picture many times, to try and capture the changing light and seasons.
Look at the pictures of the haystack paintings. Can you see the differences and which do you like best?

Monet painted this picture many times when the light was different as well.

Monet painted this to remember of all the fallen soldiers in the First World War.
Water Lilies and Japanese BridgeMonet moved to Giverny in France, and he spent many hours painting the water lilies and the bridge. The paintings he created were huge and covered whole walls. Paintings of the water lilies are displayed in a curved room in Paris.

Claude MonetClaude Monet developed problems with his sight. This affected the colours used in his paintings. After an operation to help his eyes, he repainted some of his works of art, to add more blue.
Monet died at the age of 86 in 1926. He is still remembered today as a very popular and admired artist.
