Factors to consider:

1. Bait size

2. How deep the fish are

3. How well the bobber can be seen by both you andthe fish

A smaller one inch diameter plastic bobber will easilykeep a small minnow floating. A bobber that will beeasily pulled under and away by a large sucker is beingused as bait. Experienced fishermen prefer thesmallest bobber that will still hold the bait up.

Fixed –When fishes are in the range that is within thelength of the fishing rod a fixed style bobber is the besttool in this situation.

Sliding–Deeper the water longer the length of linerequired between the bait and the bobber leading tomore difficulty in casting. This is where the slidebobbers or fishing slip bobbers come to play. Beingable to slide on the line the bobber can be reeled to thetip of the fishing rod.

It is mandatory to be able to see your bobber. A highlyand clear visible bobber should be used while fishingchoppy or deep water. A fluorescent cylinder shapedfloat will stand taller and be much more visible than around, white clip-on bobber on a rippled surface.Lighted fishing slip bobbers must be preferred at night.Transparent bubble bobber is mostly used in clear andtransparent water.

First step is to choose the sinker type for your fixedsinker rig and it’s better to choose a good multipurposesinker for a large bass or bell sinker. Slide a number 1 allthe way up to a 6/0 hook onto your line about 12 to 18inches from the end of the line. The size of the catfishwill determine the size of the hook. Then tie the hook inplace. To change the weight sizes if needed a good snapswivel should be tied to the end of your line followed byclipping the sinker in place. Lastly bait your hook thenyour fixed sinker catfish fishing rig will be complete.
