Principal’s Welcome Bandon Grammar School is delighted and honoured to host the Irish School Boys’ Hockey Cham-pionships 2017. Having visited many previous host schools around the country during past championships, we are now pleased to return the hospitality. A new carpet and other improve-ments were made to our pitch over the past year so we hope all the players will enjoy the new sur-face. This pitch was the hockey cradle of Olympians, David and Conor Harte along with others who have followed and we trust many of you will go on to give much to the game and achieve the ultimate accolade too. Extra-curricular activities and especially hockey, play an important role in a broad education at Bandon Grammar School. We look forward to our boys and girls learning from the games to be played at the very highest standard over the next few days. I also wish to thank the organising committee for all their efforts, along with our ground staff and hockey fraternity for preparing for this exciting tournament. President of Munster Hockey Message from the Munster President A very warm welcome to the All-Ireland Schoolboy Championships, which is been hosted by Bandon Grammar School, the matches will be played in Ashton, Bandon, Garryduff & Midleton and I thank them for providing their excellent facilities. The All-Ireland Schoolboy’s is a great tournament and I would like to acknowledge the support and guidance that is received by the players, from their parents & their families. Also from the coaches, managers & teachers in their schools. It is a great accolade for the boys to represent their schools in this tournament and I hope that they will enjoy the experience. The recent Boy’s Interpros was an excellent tournament with top class hockey been played, in closely contested matches where the players showed great sports-manship. And I hope this will be a catalyst for this tournament. On behalf of Munster Hockey I would like to sincerely like to thank Bandon Grammar for organ-ising the tournament in Cork this year. Also can I thank all those who give their time and exper-tise to ensure the smooth running of the All-Ireland Schools. A very warm welcome to Cork for the School Boys Tournament. This is a very important event in the hockey calendar the number of schools participating is testament to this and it is a great hon-our to represent your school. Be proud of your achievement and enjoy playing.
