WelcomeWe are very glad to have you worshiping our gracious God with us today.

To Our Guests,We especially welcome you today! More information about our church is available in our Welcome Center, located through the doorways on either side of the high pulpit. You can also visit our website at firstpresaugusta.org.

Spiritual CareIf you would like to speak to someone about what it means to know Jesus Christ or you have any spiritual need or question, please use one of the prayer cards in the pew rack to contact one of our pastors. Our church elders are also available to speak with you. An elder will be standing next to the pastor following the service.

Children’s WorshipWe offer a specially designed program for children in pre-k through fourth grade during the morning services. A leader will escort children from the sanctuary to their classrooms during the hymn of prepara-tion. Parents are welcome to accompany them to observe where to pick them up after the service. Parents of children in pre-k through second grade are asked to pick up their children following Sunday School or the 11 a.m. worship service.

Nursery Nurseries are provided for infants and toddlers during the worship services and Sunday School. We also provide a Mother/Infant Room located beside Nursery 1 which is equipped with live video feed of the worship services. Ushers are available to direct you.

Additional Seating Additional seating for morning and evening worship services is available each week in St. Andrew’s Hall.

All Saints’ DayToday we observe All Saints’ Day. Scripture reveals that there is spiritual and everlasting oneness in the true Church of our Lord Jesus Christ, a oneness that transcends death. Thus, the Church is comprised of the elect of God—those already in heaven, those on earth who are redeemed by the blood of the Lamb, and those who are yet to come to saving faith. We remember those of First Presbyterian Church who have died since All Saints’ Day 2012:

†The Call to Worship ................................................................Hebrews 12:1-2; 28-29Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses,

Let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, And let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,

Looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, Let us be grateful for receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken,

Let us offer to God acceptable worship, with reverence and awe, For our God is a consuming fire.

The Lord be with you.

And with your spirit.Let us worship God!

Come sing to the Lord of his wonderful greatness. Sing to the Lord of the things he has done.Come sing to the Lord all ye people of Zion. This is the day that the Lord has made.Worship with jubilant praise. Joyful, joyful we adore thee, God of glory, Lord of love.Hearts unfold like flow’rs before thee, op’ning to the sun above.Melt the clouds of sin and sadness. Drive the dark of doubt away!Giver of immortal gladness, fill us with the light of day!

†The Invocation (Please lift hands)

†Gloria Patri .......................................................................................................... Greatorex

†The Confession of Faith ................................................ Westminster Shorter Catechism

Q. 37. What benefits do believers receive from Christ at death?

The souls of believers are at their death made perfect in holiness and immedi-ately pass into glory; and their bodies, being still united to Christ, rest in their graves until the resurrection.

Q. 38. What benefits do believers receive from Christ at the resurrection?

At the resurrection Christ will immediately raise up in glory all believers; he will openly acknowledge and acquit them in the day of judgement, graciously rewarding them according to their works of faith, and they will enter into the full enjoyment of God for all eternity.

†The Assurance of Pardoning Grace ..................................................Hebrews 8:10,12This is the covenant I will make with the house of Israel after that time, declares the Lord. I will put my laws in their minds and write them on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people. For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more.

The Personal Confession of Sin (Please kneel if able to do so)

The Confession of Sin

Heavenly Father, your Son promised blessing to all whose hearts arepure; he promised that the pure in heart will see you, O God.But we have defiled ourselves by having very little concern for being pure in heart and even more by constructing idols in ourown hearts; we continue to reject your Word and your promisesas we seek to find meaning and security in our jobs, our families, our friends, our pleasures, and our projects—but not in our God. Lord, please show us your mercy. Indeed, gracious Father, have mercy upon us, and forgive us in Christ Jesus, our Lord.

based on Matthew 5:8

†The Response—O For a Thousand Tongues to Sing .............................................AzmonO for a thousand tongues to singMy great Redeemer’s praise,The glories of my God and King,The triumphs of his grace!

He breaks the power of canceled sin,He sets the prisoner free; His blood can make the foulest clean,His blood availed for me.

Glory to God, and praise and loveBe ever, ever given,By saints below and saints above,The church in earth and heaven.

†The Pastoral Prayer and The Lord’s PrayerOur Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen.

The Offertory—We See the Mountains Lifted High Before Us .. Londonderry Air

*The Offering (Please take a moment to sign the attendance register.)

*†The PeaceThe peace of the Lord be with you always.

And also with you.

*Online giving is available at firstpresaugusta.org and at the giving kiosk

We see the mountains lifted high before us, and some may ask, “From where does our help come?”I tell you this, our help comes from the Lord; the God who made all heavens, all the earth. God calls us back when on the road we lose our way; the Lord who keeps us never, never sleeps. The God of all, the very God of Israel will hold us fast and bring us home again. The Lord, by night, will be a light to guide us; The Lord, by day, will be a constant shade. Our going out, our coming in are guarded from this time forth, and yet forevermore.

The Shorter Catechism, Question 94:

Q. What is baptism?

A. The sacrament of baptism is a washing with water in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, which is a sign and seal that we are joined to Christ, that we receive the benefits of the covenant of grace, and that we are engaged to be the Lord’s.

I believe in the love of GodIt is an orphan’s wildest dreamIt is a narrow little roadIt is an ever-widening desert stream

Oh and I, I will leave this roadFor the narrowOh and I, I will leave this roadFor the narrow

It is portrayed in the bread and wineOh let it fortify my bones‘Cause it is more than just a signIt is the fountain from that desert stone

The love of God is the hymn of hopeLet the needy join the throngLet the widow hear and copeLet the crippled rise to sing this song
