OUR HISTORY

1964 : All Saints’ College is founded by Rev. Mother MaryLoiuse,CCR with the approbation of the Rt. Rev. Dr.V.V.Dereere,OCD,BishopofTrivandrum.TheCollegebegins functioning in theHolyAngels’ premises on6July1964withMissMargaret P. PauloseasPrincipaland277studentsintheFirstYearPre-Degreeclass.

1965 : On 15 May His Excellency the Most Rev. James R.Knox,ApostolicInternunciotoIndialaysthefoundationstoneof the firstblockof theCollegeatChackai, thepermanentcampus.

1967 : TheCollege is shifted to the new campus atChackaion 10 January. It is upgraded on 24 July with theintroduction of Degree Courses in English, History,Economics,Mathematics,ChemistryandZoology.

1980 : B.Sc.BotanyandB.ComDegreeCoursesareofferedforthefirsttimeinJuly.

1982 : The College receives sanction to commence thepostgraduate course in English Language andLiterature.

1993 : The first batch of B.Sc. Physics students begins thecourse.

1995 : M. Com. is the second postgraduate course to beintroducedinCollege.

1999 : The B.A. (Restructured) Course in CommunicativeEnglishisintroduced.ThepostgraduatecourseinM.Sc.EnvironmentalSciencescommencesasamultidisciplinarycourse.

2001 : TheCollege isaccreditedby theNationalAssessmentandAccreditationCouncil(NAAC)inJuly.

2008 : The College is reaccredited by NAAC with grade B(2.81)inMarch.

2011 : TheCollegeisselectedasacentrefortheKeralaStateIT Mission (KSITM) programme, “Skill EnhancementComputer Training and Women’s Resource Centrein Colleges of Kerala” in January. The postgraduatecourse in M. Sc Environmental Sciences– which wasinitiallyaself-financingcourse–isregularizedwiththeapprovaloftheGovernmentofKerala.ThePostgraduateDepartmentofEnvironmentalSciencesisconstitutedasaseparatedepartmentfrom11October.

2012 : AllSaints’CollegeisoneofthethreecollegesinKeralaundertheStarCollegeScheme.Thisisaschemeinitiatedby the Department of Biotechnology (DBT) under theMinistry of Science and Technology, Government ofIndiatonurtureexcellenceinundergraduateScience.

1. Students should come to College on time, neatly andmodestlydressed.

2. Exemplarybehaviourisexpectedfromallthestudentsbothon and off campus. Studentsmust behave in amannerbefittingtheprinciplesandethicsofthecollege.

3. Collegenoticeboardsshouldbeconsulteddaily.

4. Thecollege identity tagsmustbeworn toCollegeeveryday.

5. Thebuscardsmustbebroughteveryday.Thecardsaretobereturnedonorbeforetheclosingdate.

6. Students are not permitted to leave the campus duringclasshours.

10.StudentsmustkeeptheCollegecleanandtidy.Theyhavetocompensateforanylosstocollegeproperty.

11.Ragging is a cognisable offence and is banned in theinstitution. Complaints regarding ragging should belodgedwith the Anti-Ragging Cell. Stern action will betaken against those found guilty of participating in orabettingragging.Actiontakenwilldependonthenatureandgravityoftheoffence:

i.Suspensionfromclasses ii.Debarringfromexamination iii.Expulsionfromthecollege

No leniencywill be shown in this regard. Those foundguiltyarealsoliabletobepunishedbytheCourtofLawandcanbesentencedtorigorousimprisonmentofupto3years.

Every student has to submit a duly filled and signedundertakingagainstraggingtotheanti-raggingcell.

12.Unauthorizedcollectionoffundsbystudentsisnotpermitted.Nomoneymaybecollectedwithout the sanctionof theclassteacherorthePrincipal.

13.Studentsmustnot(i)circulateanynoteorpasteitanywherein the College (ii) collect money or (iii) organise anymeeting,withoutthepermissionofthePrincipal.PoliticalactivityisstrictlyforbiddenintheCollege.

14.Students must not post derogatory or unfavourablecommentsagainstthecollege,teachersorotherstudentsononlineplatformssuchasFacebook.DoingsoispunishableaspertheIndianPenalCode.Strictactionwillbetakenbythecollegeagainststudentswhoarefoundguiltyofthisoffense.

ATTENDANCE

The percentage of attendance shall be calculated course-wise.Todetermine theeligibility for registration for theESE(EndSemesterExamination), theaverageof thecourse-wisepercentage of attendance shall be considered. Benefits ofattendancemaybegrantedtostudentswhoattendUniversityUnionActivities,meetingsofUniversityBodiesandparticipatein extra-curricular activities by treating them present for thedaysoftheirabsencefortheabovepurposeontheproductionof a participation/attendance certificate in such activitiesissued by the University authorities/Principals, subject to amaximumoftendaysinasemester.

1. Students should be on time. Five minutes before thecommencementoftheexamination,therewillbealongbellatwhichallshouldenterthehall.Atthesecondbell,thequestionpaperswillbedistributed.

2. Nobooksandnotesshouldbetakenintotheexaminationhallandstrictsilenceshallbeobserved.

3. No paper should be detached from the answer books. NopaperwiththeCollege/Universitysealshouldberemovedfromtheexaminationhall.
