Essex-based tackle giants Guru are the new sponsors of one of White Acres' three Spring festivals – replacing Dynamite Baits, who have supported the second of the three events for over a decade. The venue hosts three five-day events during March and April each year, they come high on the list of unmissable meets for many of the country’s top match anglers, who can travel hundreds of miles to compete here from around the UK. These are the first big events of the year, seen by many as the prequel to the new commercial match season after the winter break.

Guru lends its support to White Acres’ Spring festivals

The Guru Festival will be held over the week beginning Saturday 23rd April 2016, and entries are open now. So don't delay if you fancy fishing against some of the top commercial anglers in the country!

Along with the Bait-Tech and Milo events, the Guru Festival is open to up to 180 anglers, and each attracts entries from some of the sport's top names including Guru-backed Steve Ringer, Adam Rooney and Paul Holland, plus the cream of England's matchmen crop – Alan Scotthorne, Darren Cox, Tommy Pickering and Des Shipp to name a few.

However, the events are open to all anglers who want to pitch their skills against the best, and with a bit of luck and a good draw, claim some amazing tackle prizes as well as a slice of the substantial prize money. The top-placed anglers also get an invitation to fish one of the biggest events in the UK match calendar – the Parkdean Masters/Preston

Innovations Festival in October, where the top 24 anglers qualify for the chance to fish for £25,000 in the Parkdean Masters Final.

NelsonsLake focus:

White Acres

Nelsons is one of our specimen lakes, approximately two acres in size with 24 pegs. You’ll find Carp up to 28lb and Catfish up to 50lb. There’s also several Ghost Carp over 20lb – the best recorded is 27lb!Chances of success increase in the late evening, night and early morning. You’ll find the best baits to use are boilies and 21mm pellets.

Heavy feed tends to put the fish off, so a gentle approach is needed to outwit them. The trick is to feed lightly and fish the margins when quiet.
