How to get to the larp First head towards Skillingaryd south of Jönköping. In Skillingaryd take road 640 to Nyholm. In Nyholm drive towards Bondstorp and after 1,5 km turn right.

https://goo.gl/maps/T3PSgxNnCXR2 or use the information at http://main.berghemsvanner.se/vagbeskrivning/

Arriving The road to the larp village is narrow and has a turning point at the end. In order to avoid meeting another car we will limit how many cars are at the turning point at the same time. On the road there will be a sign with a phone number on it that you will have to call before you drive further. If the turning point is full you will get a cue number and have to park and wait. In order for this to work smoothly you need to tell the person responsible for parking that you are leaving after unpacking so you wont meet anyone arriving.

If you arrive by buss or train and need to be picked up in Skillingaryd, call Quest Leite +46735330510

Parking The road up to the larp village have some possible parking places but please talk to Quest Leite about where to park the car as we will need the closest parking places for emergency transports.

Off-game office We will have an off-game office on site. It will be open and manned 24/7. Here you can come to rest, talk, find help with intrigues or help with a new character if you decided your first character has died. It will mainly be organiser Lina Petersdotter Johansson who will be found here during the larp (see the map on page 6). If someone needs to contact you during the game she can be reached on phone number +46738441467

Medics Both in game and off-game medical care will be handled by the imperial medics. And the Hands will have and extra off medic with them.

Living arrangements The hands - will be sleeping in military tents in the forest at their camp.

The villagers and the empire - will be sleeping in the houses in the village. See the map for more information.

The empire soldiers can leave their sleeping gear in their houses before game start.

Mattresses - Their will be some mattresses in the houses but we recommend that you bring your own mattresses if you can.

Toilet facilities There will be an outside privy at the parking lot closest to the larp village. The privy is number 24 at the map.

Game mechanics and Rules

Sexual violence As the larp is focused around oppression, sexual violence is one area that we don't want to explore. Sexual violence is something left to other larps. To be totally clear, RAPE as an oppression tool is totally unacceptable to play on.

Breakfast meetings for group leaders: During every breakfast (09:30-10:00 in the morning) we hold a off meeting in the off camp to check in how the game is going and what you need and want. Every village family and group (officerare and kompani are different groups) should have a representative on every meeting. Anyone interested are welcome to the meeting.

Hands in disguise If the hands walk in to the village with their family shawl they are in disguise so that the empire soldiers can’t recognise them properly until (if) they reveal themselves through saying that they are hands, putting on their black shawl or drawing weapons etc. Before this they can be suspected but not caught. (Think like a video game when your character can go in to stealth mode so that their enemies can’t see them and then decides to rise up from stealth mode and thereby be spotted)

Hidden Hands camp The empire are not allowed to find the hands camp. If villagers or Hands leaves the village to go to the Hands camp the soldiers can follow them for a while but has to loose track of them before they arrive. If a soldier gets caught or similar they can be lead to the Hands camp and if they manage to escape, wont be able to find their way back to the camp.

Graceful bow out Used to shift yourself out of focus of everyone. It can be used to enter a scene without a fuss or to leave. One can also use it to shift the focus of an intense scene away from oneself.

By shielding and averting one’s eyes and taking a shrinking posture One signals a GBO, The players around you will then shift their focus to other players. If you, for example, are the focus of an intense scolding and it is getting too much you do a GBO and the aggressor will promptly start yelling at someone else.

Calibration of levels of play All players will receive a red, yellow and green piece of cloth/fabric to put around their arm.

This is every players way of showing how much physical play they are comfortable with but also to show if you can handle tough physical work. All players will have all three cloths with them and can therefore change grading at any time.

Green = don’t hold backYellow = take it a little easyRed = none

If you put the cloth around your right arm it means that you can not be involved in any physical labor. If you put it around your left arm it means that you are up for tough physical labor.

Game start The first hand: starts in the forest at their camp at approximately 16:00.

The villagers and the south east hand: starts in the village at approximately 16:00.

The empire soldiers: starts out side of the village (at the parking lot) at approximately 19.00 to marsh in. Between 16:00-19:00 we recommend that the empire takes the extra time to prepare and create relations and background story. You can hang out in the off camp or go to a pizzeria and get some warmth and energy before the game start.

Game ending The game will end between 12:00 and 16:00 at Saturday by Lina Petersdotter Joahnsson calling the game of.

We have thought quite a lot about how this game could end or how it will end. We don’t want to see a large end game battle because we think that will go against the feeling of the larp in general. What we feel is the most important thing is that your character decides how he or she wants the game to end on a personal level. This is a game about the choices you make during the larp and we want that to reflect in the personal ending. At the off-game meeting on Saturday we want to focus the talk about how we together want the game to end.

After the games ended we will have a short talk in groups and then you’ll have some time to land and take care of yourselves. Around 8 a clock in the evening we will serve dinner. You are more then welcome to stay until Sunday and will be served brunch during Sunday morning before returning home.

Interrogation The Empire will be bringing a “Profoss” – a sort of military police person who also conducts interrogations of Newmarkers. The Profoss will be played by Kaya Toft Thejls – feel free to contact her if you want to calibrate anything specific. The interrogations will have as fundament these baselines from the participant contract:“.. be okay with people pushing you, giving you a light slap in the face, grabbing you and shouting at you..”This said, it is of course always okay to opt out if needed. To facilitate the possibility of strong scenes, a couple of techniques aside from the overall ones (bow out, colour bands, off-game) will be used in interrogation scenes.- Off-game calibration prior to the interrogation is encouraged, especially if you want a certain outcome or level of roughness during an interrogation. Don’t be afraid to pull an interrogator off-game.- If no calibration has taken place, the level of intensity will increase slowly. The interrogator will verbally describe what they are going to do before doing it – that way you have the possibility to indicate if you are comfortable escalating or not. - If you at any point tire of the scene or for any reason wants to end it, without breaking game, let your character “pass out”. The interrogator will wrap up the scene and have you removed from it. If you are uncomfortable or want to break game, use off-game.

Death You are in this sense in control of your own story and decides your self if your character dies or not.

If you want to push a scene or a battle to the limit with out having to kill your character you either pass out a look dead and then come to your senses and crawl away to get help.

If you want your character to die you show this decision by ball up both of your fists.

If you choose to kill your character before Saturday there is a possibility to come in as a new character although this is not something that we recommend because this game is about every characters individual journey. We have extra group specific clothes but you have to bring your own change of clothes! If you choose to die on Saturday you are out of the game.

Playing hurt Healing without treatment from a doctor takes a day (24 hours). Will you receive medical help it will take approx. 2-4 hours with a poultice and tea.

Off Game If you need to communicate off-game information you say “off-game” and what you need to say. Remember is is NEVER a poor decision to break the scene if you need it. Take care of yourself first and foremost. YOU are the most important and you have to communicate if there is a need.

Alcohol IN game There will be no alcoholic beverages during the game and no drinking alcohol.

Alcohol OFF game After the larp it is okey to drink alcohol but we do not want anyone to become drunk. We are dealing with heavy themes during this larp and do want to make sure that you take care of each other and your selves.

Battle We have no points rules for battle. We want you to have a good game and play during every phase. So play the battle out as best you can.

Weapons We use foam weapons during this larp in case there will be fighting (even though this is not where we put the focus). Show your weapons when you check in and use them responsibly.

Language Because this larp became a bit smaller then planned we have decided to open up the game mechanics for the language. We keep the structure which we decided on before but have decided to open up for the possibility for you to in a meeting where you feel like you get stuck because of the language barrier change language. So with other words: we promote that you favour good play instead of holding on to a language that hinders your game!

Gear Do not forget to bring everyday things like candles and eating gear.
